  • Anyone else imagine some of these executives living like Granny in one of the old Looney Toons cartoons where she has so much money that she burns it to keep warm?

  • Music isnt a product it is a word. Next thing you know the english language is copyrighted.

  • If this is what our nations coming to, I might just move back to Portia Rico! I was born in america, but my mom or grandma (RIP) is from Portia Rico

  • UNFAIR While other people were being sued the RIAA and FBI ignored the following conversation A NC police officer named the name Kazaa discussing how the songs are arranged in groups and you just click and get them He said its the thing to do everybody is doing it He bet his daughters had downloaded a thousand songs on his computer He had to buy a new computer his old one FILLED UP WITH MEMORY He laughed and said he hoped the federal government did not come and investigate him

  • 10 people that clicked the thumbs down button must work for the RIAA.

  • Does ANYONE outside of the music industry actually LIKE the RIAA?? The people who run that organization, esp. its lawyers who sue people, have got to be the BIGGEST ASSHOLES on the planet! How do they sleep at night after they've ruined some kid's life and sued him for hundreds of thousands or even millions just because of mp3s??

  • The music industry's biggest defenders were SOO APOCALYPTIC about mp3s and file-sharing... until they started doing it THEMSELVES and actually found out they could make money, too! Yet the RIAA STILL sues people for downloading mp3s every now and then. Why??? YOU'RE DOING IT YOURSELVES! Simply because they're downloading it FORE FREE rather than from one of your 'approved' services?

Oh, god... That just FURTHER reveals that you just care about the money, not the law or morality.

  • The RIAA is a joke! They sued the guy behind Napster... and then not long AFTER that, the music industry CREATED ITS OWN MP3-PROVIDING SERVICES FOR MONEY!! What fucking hypocrisy... But did they ever THANK Napster or any of those people who started the mp3-ripping trend for giving them ideas? Did they EVER tell the legal system, "Maybe we were a little hard on that Napster guy. Let him go"? I don't think so! wtf

  • Funny Orrin Hatch is for smaller govt & against reckless govt spending in Washington yet he wants more govt in our business when we "misuse" copyrights laws by (say) posting an obscure song on youtube. What a hypocrite?!! Republican or Democrat...both parties are as crooked as they come. This is exactly why I don't trust the govt.

  • thumbs up if you hate riaa becouse they shutdown LimeWire

  • I dont get how a multi million dollar company can sue people who can barely afford to put a roof over their heads for hundreds of thousands of dollars to listen to a piece of music for free, which you can do on the radio, they have their heads so far up their asses it is unbelievable, someone should sue the riaa for ruining countless amounts of peoples lives, they even sued a 12 year old, how sad is that.

  • This looks like a job for Anon.

  • how can peopl charge people to listen to a sound?

  • If libraries don't hinder book sales then Limewire won't hinder music sales :))

  • Though Marx was wrong about communism, he was indeed right that just like during the Industrial Revolution, the RELATIONS OF PRODUCTION LAG BEHIND THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION. Adapt or die, RIAA, MPAA, CRIA, etc!

But hey, what would happen to file sharing if Joel Tenenbaum and Jammie Thomas happened to be not guilty? Totally legal?

  • Great Video...

  • Btw

What is the movie used between 0:18 - 0:26 ?

    It is disturbingly familiar.

  • @zerospicon Smash Mouth's All Star from Shrek...as for the movie...i looked up Wikipedia for All Star...Inspector Gadget perhaps?

  • yup, totally agree!

musicians make 2-3 or 5,6,7 of your songs available for download, and then IF we like it, we will pay donate to you, why because we like your music and if we donate you can than produce more songs, and it will be incentive for fuck faces like soulja boi to actually put out good music

    -------------

Apple iPod retard representative: our newest ipod holds 120,00 songs

me: oh that's nice, expect I don't fucking have $118,800 to buy 120,000 songs fucking idiot (@ $0.99/song)

  • The comparison he makes that copying music is like copying a design of something, that is just bull-shit, you can only copy music because it is already created; It isn't like you created that song. The only thing you are doing is pressing the burn button on any copying program in a computer. When you do something with your own hands, hard work, then that is not copying. I do agree, however, on all the thIngs that are said about the music companies.

  • @calientote1 I think that was the joke. copying music ISN'T copying a design. so he's pointing out that it's idiotic to say it's the same thing, just as ur saying

  • Terrible video.

    Creator missed the point ENTIRELY.

  • @AnarchicxA Then what exactly is the point if the video's author missed it?

  • Without benefit of counsel, they would miss the fact that the expense of this dream would be deducted from all residuals until EVERYONE ELSE was reimbursed. If sales were slow the label moved on the the next big thing. Leaving loads of debt on the shoulders of these artists. No accountability for having dropped the distribution ball.

Ususally lagging sales were blamed on the poor marketability of the band rather than laid in the laps of the A/R people where it no doubt often belonged.

  • Many of them barely old enough to buy a drink at the clubs. All they would see is that they were scheduled in the recording studio with the likes of Brian Eno. The $100,000 advance was theirs. Many would tool themselves with new gear, spending every dime. Ready to embark on this journey.

  • he executives and A/R people all wanted to be sure they got their piece.

Those lucky enough to be signed were rarely told "before you do anything get a lawyer." So many stories of bands, not just on majors who had no advice when presented with the fine print offering them the world.

  • Yeah! FUCK the RIAA douche bags!

  • All i got to say is...Jamie Thomas-Rasset look it up!

  • That's nice...

Care to make a substantial argument about this video - rebutting it or whatnot - or are you here to piss around in hopes of pissing people off?

  • The artists get only a few cents from each CD while they earn dollars! Its not about paying the artist they should, its about buying copyrights for record company associations from the state. All these companies do nothing just collecting money .

  • @cityboy01 You must be from the RIAA...troll.

  • Brianna LaHara, thats how gay RIAA is, i mean the artists are already rich enough, dam greedy bastards

  • What it all boils down to:

The face of copyright is changing. The industry is attempting to apply outdated copyright ideas and laws to the modern world, and it simply does not apply any more. The industry either has to learn to adapt or die out.

Since we live in the days of inexpensive high-quality home recording equipemnt, and inexpensive (if not free) internet publishing, the music industry's greatest fear is that music no longer requires an industry.

    In the meantime, buy independent.

  • if they're making such a big deal about stealing music. why are there any lawsuits against the corporations who are stealing the gene codes from plants and animals. last time i checked, those things were here a long time before they were.

this is all about corporations getting greedier and tossing money into law-makers pockets to get more money from us.

THIS IS HIGHLY ILLEGAL AND AGAINST THE CONSITUTION!

  • ok, let's boycott the industry and download everything. hell, i'll burn the cd's and give them away myself!

as far as i'm concerned, the industry wouldn't exist if we didn't want them to.

I say all musicians should make their music available for download, and if we feel they deserve it, we'll donate to them. i think the artist would be happier and make more money that is non taxable, and destroy the corporate cock suckers at the same time.

    we need to organize people!

  • yes but their lawyers and the record companies won't let that happen. It will also keep them alive by stopping their drug habits. BTW Lamar Smith of Texas had a bill just like with Leahy and Hatch. I don't know how Lamar Smith gets the SA TX vote, I think it alls comes from Alamo Heights people, and the Rich Westlake Hills People none of color. This is the work of the Prison Industrial Complex, the Corporations, and laywers. No we are not in America anymore we are in CorpMerica.

  • Right on!

  • 6.000th view and monkey police :D

  • fuck the riaa!

  • My cousin rights songs. He does it because it is a form of art for all to enjoy. He does get paid, and it's just to cover the cost of making it, and he doesn't care who downloads it.

  • It could be that you just suck.

Bands like REM who take advantages of different paradigms are doing better than ever.

  • yeah, wormrancher sucks. real bad. he's just bitter about his lack of talent.

  • Thieves? This is a video about piracy (copyright infringement), not theft. If I steal something from you, you don't have it anymore. Copyright infringement is not theft.

  • "You don't have ANY idea what the hell you are talking about."

And you somehow know it was illegal downloading, and illegal downloading for sure somehow? Really?

Yeah, when I can piss grapefruits maybe.

  • AWW LOOK MOMMY, Look at the nice parrot, will you buy him for me, I'll take good care of him... hes so smart, he repeats what real people say!"

  • Leahy should be in jail anyway...he leaked military secrets to the Communists!

  • Real Player 11.0 is in big trouble

multi-million dollar copyright lawsuit against Real Player 11.0

Diamond Recording Studio Ltd vs. Real Player 11.0 why? they are killing all artist worldwide stop real player 11.0 now

They are with the a RIAA AND ALL ARTIST CALL THE RIAA ON REAL PLAYER

THE REAL PLAYER 11.0 ARE BREAKING ALL COPYRIGHT LAWS ALL ARTIST'S CALL YOUR LAWYERS NOW STOP REAL PLAYER 11.0 NOW

  • Yea like who gives a fuck about: Terrorism Rape Murder Grand Thef Hostage Problems Drugs ect. WE NEED TO AREST THOSE PEOPLE WHO STEAL SONGS (also.....if you think I am serious.....i'm not.....) FUCK THE RIAA!!!!!
  • Your forgetting:

    Global warming,

    famine,

    disease to name a few.

  • US senators are some of the most corrupt politicians I have ever seen. If they vote for OOXML, I would be far from surprised.

  • The RIAA representatives are the real criminals. They steal billions of dollars from hard working people to generate ridiculous profits. Seriously how much profit is enough? Once it was actually about entertainment not profit.

  • too badd the world and RIAA doesn't see it that way.All they want is money they don't care what color u r,what u look like,u steal music they'll chargin a bundles.I agree wit your view on it.

  • The RIAA representatives are the real criminals. They steal billions of dollars from hard working people to generate ridiculous profits. Seriously how much profit is enough? Once it was actually about entertainment not profit.

  • You forgot violate Sherman Anti Trust!

  • fuck RIAA

  • THE RIAA IS SO GAY! THEY LIKE TO *GET IT ON* ALL THE TIME OVER THERE IN THEIR BUILDING!

Those stupid idiots sueing innocent people all the time for downloading a few songs! THEY ARE SO GAY!

    (hehe)

  • Spoken like a true tool! The RIAA works for the corporate label fascists to keep artists oppressed and underpaid while grossly overcharging their fans. Paying artists 4% is thievery!!! Charging Fans $13 for some plastic and paper that cost less than 50 cents to mass produce is highway robbery. Destroying a working class citizen's life with hundred thousand dollar law suits over some crappy mp3's is stark raving corporate fascist terrorism!!

  • Blame Bill Clinton . He signed the law.

  • Not True! My cousin who is a musician and makes a ends meet day to day by doing odd jobs and is the lead singer of a band. He also composes music, and sells CD's. However he also puts his music on "illegal" downloading sites (eg. Limewire) and gives me CD's and ask me to distrusting them. He Owns it and he doesn't care much less sue. He loves the art of music, not the money!

  • So you believe that a songwriter or musician shouldn't be paid for music they sell? Why?

  • Yes they should get paid about what the average

Joe makes, they should mainly do it because they for the love of music. Look at Pasco, his paintings were regarded as trash during his lifetime but he kept doing although he was starving, he did it for the love of art, not fore the love of money.

  • Music shouldn't be a product. Stupid people always have to relate everything back to money. It shouldn't be about money. It should be about the love of music. They'll get money from concerts and merchandise and etc. If I make a song, I just want people to enjoy listening to it.

  • too badd the world and RIAA doesn't see it that way.All they want is money they don't care what color u r,what u look like,u steal music they'll chargin a bundles.I agree wit your view on it.

  • My cousin rights songs. They are free on the internet. He is saying this!

  • Fuck the RIAA. I want to fucking bite them to death.

  • lol, BITE them to death? that would be quite painful...

  • GigaTribe is probably the best app as far as file sharing goes. You can let friends download directly from your harddrive, and all exchanges are encrypted...great way to exchange entire folders of files with your friends and no size limits.

  • Found this comment on another RIAA video... loved it so posting it here: Illegal downloads should be called "undocumented downloads". Then President Bush and the Democrats can sign an amnesty bill for those "undocumented downloaders" that will allow them to download more undocumented files after they reboot their computer.

  • You do NOT have right to put a tollbooth on human cultural exchange. Believe me, if your labels actually put out something that wasn't pure SHIT, people would buy it to support it because they will want to fund more recordings from that artist. Think about it, if you even think at all. Idiots.

  • Want to go after the real pirates and bootleggers? Fine. But suing grandmothers without a computer, dead people, children and even deaf people just shows how ridiculously clueless the RIAA really is. WAKE UPRIAA: People will always trade and share music. They always have, they always will. It's called CULTURE, you idiots.

  • This is really simple... STOP buying RIAA music and they lose their power to pull this crap on ordinary people that are simply trying to exercise their free use rights!

  • I *don't* buy music anymore.

Incidentally, drum circles are teh win! :3

  • Yeah drum circles are awesome!

  • stupid hitting at music fans!!

  • lol clever

  • The points in the video are true, but some of the arguments are fallacies. The copying a porch-swing analogy would only hold true if someone heard a song and then went home and played it themselves. The riaa is a special interest group. They are not their to be fair and equal. They exist for their own purposes ONLY.The idea of using law enforcement for this is absolutely criminal in itself.

  • Now I dream of Buford T. Justice to raid my house while I'm torrenting. Sweet.

  • F the RIAA!

  • to fuck no u speak for yourself when u say that

  • oh so these or the niggas who have been takin off my videos..how the fuck they do that!!!

  • If anyone gets their life ruined by the RIAA, I will fight for them; I don't know how, but I will.

  • Does your offer apply to the MPAA ruining lives too?

    SCOBMAN

  • There should b more people like you.

  • wow, who edited this? Awesome job!!

But verry sadly its not so far from the truth... If you can, join the struggle for your rights! Allways question the authoritys, their motives are often far from noble!!

  • revolt

  • All you need to do now is add a teen dancer with some popular tune in the back ground.....

  • So true. They are coming after youtube now. Ridiculous.
