That was an awesome fight scene. It was just so cool the way him and the mod souls worked together. They're extremely cool for filler characters.

renji has nice skills

but i (please don't hate me for saying this) think his bankai looks really weak

but yet it is strong

he can swing his shikai many times faster

i think it's the other way around. no interesting abilities, just blunt force. very slow. no defensive use initially.

However, this is all probably due to the fact that he's very new to using bankai. The other captains have all had centuries to train with theirs. This is sort of shown in how he's made some small improvements lately. when he fought byakuya it was half disabled by a single kidou. Now it's strong enough to block attacks when he wraps it around himself and he has the canon
