To cvbusterznarra: Thats not true for everyone o.0 I've handled different macs before (General use and fixing them) and I'm not in the least bit interested to switch over. I like windows just fine Win3.11-vista and looking forward to win-7. Windows ME was O-K but wasn't very stable, it was a prop they put up while they were working on XP. I've tinkered with some linux distrobutions but I like ubuntu the best as far as Unix/Linux systems go. Windows is my main OS tho

nothing is idiot proof =) but it will take more work to get going than a windows or mac system. For the most part it will have all the drivers you'll need but the "newest" hardware might take time for them to be written. The biggest issue is usually on-board drivers.

Install it dual boot and see how it works. You can't break your computer with it :) if u have windows backup externally first. If you don't like to get ur hands dirty - don't do it but its good alt to buyin Win/Mac if u low on cash

it depends what kind of hp laptop you're looking at, and what you're going to use it for. go into the store and have a look and play with the one on display and check out the technical specifications. If you're not too good with that stuff, just ask one of the employees at the store and tell them exactly what you'll use your laptop for. i've been doing the same coz i need a new one for uni too! good luck!!
