  • when i open cmd the first that appears is 'C:\Documents and Settings\Home>' and not

    'C:\Documents and Settings\nfixit>' as here and i cannot do this process. can you give me some help.

  • You know after you use chkdsk if you HDD had corrupted file chkdsk saves them has file001.chk and so on you need to delete them in the root dir. type in del *.chk

  • @DisneyPlayHouseNL pardon the late reply but its seems that that external harddrive was partitioned with a different file system. what exactly are you trying to do with the drive. and which os are you using to troubleshoot the drive?

  • @nfixitonline I'm using windows 7 ultimate x64. I try to ensure that when I go to computer, I can get the hard drive. I do not know more, sorry

  • I have a problem, I do this with an external hard drive, but when I chksdk F: do, there will be 'Can not open volume for direct access' how do I fix it

    PS: When I chkdsk G: / do, it just works

  • My chkdsk doesnt even go up to the 2nd step it deletes like 1 thing then when it goes up to 99% of part 1 it automatically closes

  • The problems I have is that after stage 1 finishes it says "Cannot continue in read only mode" {and} then every time I start my computer up, the disk check cancels by itself.

  • didn't know you have local disk C like me.

  • At my school, we have a lap top the gets the bsod and has a " IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL code and tells me to check the chkdsk but i cant even log on to get that far help!!!!

  • The type of file system is NTFS? When I try to restart and use the tool to check the errors, it say's I don't have privileges to write and it is an NTFS drive.

  • Are you logged in as the administrator when you set chkdsk to run on the next startup?

  • hi, i had to do this crap stuff on my harddrive, but now every time i try to defrag, it says i have shedule to run CHKDSK on my freakin drive, how can i change it back to normal? i need to defrag and i dont know how to change it from CHKDSK back to defrag. any help would be nice

  • i get to the start check thing then it comes up as scheduled disk scan but it never does anything even after i restart and shutdown my comp

  • no i dont know how to do that, im just gonna take it in to the geeksquad guys cuz im still on warranty, dont get asus computers tho. ive had it 3 months and its gone corrupt twice

  • Well if your still under warranty then its cool. I know one of my tutorials shows how to start up in safemode. anyway if you have any other questions just ask
