Excellent! I had the chance to hear Agnes Baltsa in this role in 1983 in Munich. Unfortunately Carreras had to cancel that evening and Luis Lima filled in.

@allanrosendo Posa has been following Carlos to keep him out of trouble. He's also been the go between with Elizabeth. But tonight Elizabeth is not at the ball. Neither is the King. Nor is Carlos. Eboli's not at the ball either. That verbal fencing with Rodrigo earlier tells us that her idea of making love and buying trust is dishing intrigue and inuendo. He arrives that 5 minutes too late, and tries to diffuse the bomb by saying Carlos is talking off his head. Unmasked, Eboli plays her ace.

This production is incredible. Many people have tried to make the arguement that Baltsa sang these Verdi roles too early and some say that they were always too big for her. SHE IS AMAZING!!! The passion she exudes while singing this role in unparalleled and the singing itself is incredible!

McKnighty -you must have read my mind - I have been thinking of asking you if you had any clips from Don Carlos of Carreras & Baltsa together, and here they are! Thanks so much for posting this, I love these 2 together! Baltsa is a real "fire in the belly" singer, just like Carreras.
