Doesn't take sides says it like it is, one hell of a man
Thankyou Tom Waits.
Why hasn't this song gone world wide.....,world wide all over... it says it all like never anyone has said before.God help the world. Nothing to do with God or anyone or any other religion, Just think people, like Tom Waits.... Genius.
& r.i.p. adam james ray, good soldier. thanks tom waits for speaking up with this song. i love tom waits because he doesn't protest often, so when he does something like this it means a lot.
Viacom so damned evil! i heard your "You Fu#%ers!!" They did the same when my friend was on Letterman with Built To Spill. I dig Tom's delivery here, so different than the LP version. (i don't like the accompanying guitarist's harmonics and "licks' (Duke Robillard? Smokey Whatsisname?), but it's an good honest vocal permormance. This one is like an Irish drinking song version. Love it! Too bad Viacom and companies like it are so unprofessional and careless. I guess they just don't really care...
This is an amazing song by an amazing artist. I heard it for the first time when I was still in high school and Iraq had been going on for about a year... really hit home. It is done incredibly well and sends the message in an artistic way and you cant ask for more than that.
Seldom have I been so moved by a song or by a performer as I was by this. Thank you Jon Stewart for giving us the birthday present you gave to yourself: an interview with Tom Waits and this powerful music.
you gotta love tom

Tom Waits sounds like an old freight train. That's a compliment, sir. The bass player looks like an awesome person.

Tommy is so...
He's so. There's something about him that is just so -
Tommeister might be operating outside the normal 11 dimensions. Possibly.
