@Donaldcomic Well he is actually American born, the accent was done just for the movie. Also you gotta realize he is a bit older here, your voice tends to get a bit gruffer over time.
Say no for racism.Nobody is only european or american,i mean all your family from europe i´ve sure that a less 1 guy on your family are of another country, and what´s the trouble if somebody are of other country, why he can´t feel himself american? You think the reason why somebody get out of some country?they won´t want get out of their home just for be called american, they go for another country for a better life, better job, better health(hospitals and etc)I mean very people are people like you´re
@TheStrawberryLolicon No i don't think so. But as americans, it's our duty to think that he's fluent, and that he sucks at english. We already let black people feel american... we can't let other non-whites think they are "fully" american... we need to make sure they know they are always foreigners first.
Wow. I love biographies and I love interviews. I just discovered these Archive Interviews and they are wonderful. I look forward to watching all of them.
You can he was a very sincere and open hearted man. This always came across in his acting or even his comedy. I remmeber him as "Arnold" from Happy Days show. His roll as Mr. Miyagi will always shine and withstand the annels of time. The chemistry between him and Ralph Macchio was great. I'm sure they treasured that . It was too bad that "The Kararte Kid" did not win any Academy Awards! Can you phanthom tthat? PURPLE RAIN!$#** Rest peacefully Pat..
what brought me here was that i was watching a history video and it said the narrator was named noriyuke pat morita and i was thinking "no...it couldn't be" because he didn't have that accent (only knew basically from karate kid)
well now i know that he is just really good at accents.
Dude I'm with everybody that didn't know he had an American accent!! I knew he was born in Cali but I thought he would still have an Asian accent!!! Kinda disappointing. Shows he's an awesome actor though. I never wanna know if he doesn't actually know karate
@MultiRJ69 i find it disrespectful you using a deceased person to gratify your jollies of getting youtube thumbs up, like that's such an important thing..
I love that he can switch accents (of any kind) quite easily, thats vocal mimicry at its best. Most actors today, cant even fake an aussy accent let alone an irish one.
what the hell mr.miyagi is american ?! thats unbelievable and just weird , he's american his accent is too americanized , where's that cool Japanese accent from karate kid , damn it this is so uncool that he is american
man after hearing him speak,I'm beginning to dislike the Miyagi character abit, his character with his accent show makes asians look like their new to USA, and their still foreigners, when in asian have been in america as since the late1800s.Why should they be seen any different, their just like any other folk who came to America, like Italians, Scotts, and Greeks who came to the country. Their descendants are seen as americans, while asian's treated as foreign. But that aside. Pat is amazing RIP
Maybe it wasn't what Pat himself wished to do (fake Japanese accent although he could have spoken better English). Pat is an actor and there is another person as a director who controls these characters. You know.
Shit..... For the past 20 years, I thought he was a Japanese speaking Jap... I didn't know he was actually born, raised and lived as one.... RIP Pat.... He made millions of kids wanting to learn Karate... and those Karate Dojo's should pay him a royalty for that...
Omg??? Thank you for even posting this. You have ZERO idea how meaningful this is..to even watch this. And as far as I'm concerned..it's a freaking travesty they got to name that new movie "The Karate kid"..horrible..god bless you Noriyuki...

Hearing him speak with an American accent and even identify the difference between an Irish accent from his Japanese accent in The Karate Kid is really a trip
@greencloud100 he is rolling in his grave just ass Ralph is being payed lots of money to promote because he did not like the disrespect. You can see it on his interview with the today show.
Hahahaha, my father as geting older start to look more like Noriyuki Morita, he is bald, has facial hair and the hair on his head white and the same half opened eyes. lol I like Noriyuki Morita
i love this guy i grew up watching him from arnold on happy days to mr. miyagi in the karate kid movies i also wish i could find clips or a dvd of the show he did back in the 80's called (OHARA) where he played a cop i like that show does anyone know where to find it ? i will always love pat morita he was a great guy and a great actor he will be missed
His Japanese accent was NOT dubbed, just as his Irish accent was not dubbed during a segment of this interview when he spoke of the priest in the hospital. Its called acting.
