The second tsunami was in 1957, not 1954, as the title of this video says.

The film at the start is of Lanikai on Oahu (not "O-ha-oo", as the narrator says.)

There was no monthly emergency siren test on April 1, 1946. There were no government sirens then, nor was there any tsunami warning system in existence yet. This disaster was the reason the tsunami warning system was invented. So nobody in Hawaii ignored the sirens that day, thinking it was the usual test, because none of that existed.

The second tsunami was actually in 1952 from a mega-thrust earthquake near the Kamatchka penninsula in Russia. That one reached 11ft in Hilo. Then there was the 1957 Tsunami, which was larger than the 1952 tsunami across most the state. Then the 1960 tsunami which was the largest ever recorded in Hilo. Then the 1964 tsunami from Alaska. God damn I wish I could have seen 5 tsunamis in 18 years. I have lived on the Big Island my whole life and never seen a good one. One was 5ft high in 2007.

Well it is an interesting question you pose PrinceOfDarkness111. The short answer is that there is insufficient water in the polar ice caps, mountains and glaciers collectively to enable the planet to be completely submerged. If in theory the earth's terrain was flat and totally submerged, the wave would travel around the world and then collide with itself (because it would be distributed circularly from the source) in the largest of all collisions.
