  • JACK WHITE IS A GOLDEN GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Blind Willie McTell's music is still alive..that's all that matters...Thanks to all those talented musicians who recognized his talent...This is more than Mr McTell expected after his death...All he ever asked was for some flowers to be laid on his grave.

  • this version is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better!

  • "Mr.Jack won't you be my man?" <3 <3 lol

  • you know if Meg can understand the idea of "not now, dear. just rest", this and alot of the covers they do would be amazing. but just my 2 cents

  • @RockaRollaZombie no thank you 2 cents. =/

  • youtube to mp3 converter....The n go to iTunes and select "add folder" Boom.

  • i wish this was on itunes.

  • It's so eerie how similar Jack's and Blind Willie McTell's voices are. Isn't it?

  • I love this.

  • Love this song. Saw them play it live and Jack added a bunch of verses.

  • man i love that lick

  • @aurlis2012 I know right? Everytime I play it it's just.... I can't even describe it.

  • i love this song! too bad it wasn't released on an album

  • Where did you find this? its great.

  • @turner33s it was released as a single along with a remix of "you're pretty good looking" in 2000

  • this is a really, really great version i just discovered.check out my page where i cover this and more. help a poor boy out.

  • covering blues classics is what blues artists do. John The Revelator (another track the stripes has covered) has been done over Tons of times. In the same way that bards used to tell their version of old stories, so too do musicians do their own renditions of the old songs of the culture. the songs (not just the artist) begin to develop a legacy of their own

  • Yeah well, the two versions are almost 70 years apart. I'm just amazed that McTell's music is still present today, and I'm sure glad The White Stripesare contributing to keep Blind Willie's music alive.

  • leeeaaaavvveee married women alone! seriously

  • married women leave me alone!

  • "McTell's version is wayy betterrr.." blah blah blah who gives a shit. They're both good, fuckers.

  • this is good

    poob sı sıɥʇ

  • love this track.did know it was a blind willie tune ,but hey do i give too hoots no not really

  • Well yeah blind willies version is better but it is bcuz its ORIGINAL duh but atleast jack is one of the few guitarists tht is playing those old blues tunes. Wait a min........ Hes the ONLY one tht does!

  • McTell's verson is WAY better

  • I thoroughly concur, but this is a fine homage anyways.

  • I like the 'Stripes version better... just my opinion.

  • Just an amazing song with a catchy tune!

  • the first few notes sound like You Don't Know What Love Is. Maybe he recycled it

  • It's the same chords used. A E D I believe

  • Run through the scale of G as well before getting back to A. Great song to play.... I cant say why but its almost always the first song I play when I pick up a guitar

  • A good cover of a great, great song. He doesn't play it as quick as Blind Willie McTell, or use the same chord changes - but still give the same great vibe.

  • Very cool.

  • This is awsome, thanks for posting

  • great song, a lot of the Stripes' early work is just great

  • thanks for posting this

  • I love this song soo much. " The one in my bosom she lives in Tennessee , but the one in my heart she dont give a darn for me." If this wasn't a cover , that line would be so haunting. Sorry, I'm one of the fool's who think's he still loves her.lol

  • This is a good song, maybe it will be on the next album

  • Jack has said in an interview that he's considering releasing an album of the early b-sides. If that sees light, it will probably end up on that.
