True, some people come here with the intention of transferring, and true there are those who never transfer and just are miserable.
Though UCSD has a rep for being boring, it's boring for those who don't leave their dorms to join a club or get involved on campus. Oh, you don't have a car? Learn the bus system. UCSD is a great school, just get your nose out of your books and hell, let your gpa drop 0.1 and go out and find an org that you enjoy or something.
As a graduating student at UCSD, I would advise against. I'm not jaded. I had a good time with what was given me. But trust me...please trust me. This campus is not one that encourages fun. You are seeing an extremely limited cross-section. Your first two years here, most everyone you know is either transferring out, planning to transfer out, or talking about how they wish they could transfer out. Once you hit third and fourth years, it's just sad, debt-riddled students trying to make it end.
@jvzq88 Not the school's fault? With an administration that places undergraduates at the shit end of a stick when making decisions so that they can take care of their faculty, enforces freedom of speech restrictions that blatantly contradict the First Amendment (look up Free Speech Zones), and design a campus that does not contain noncommercial areas where students can be reasonably expected to relax, I can't say that I am happy.
Have a car, am highly involved...place still sucks.
@AttentionEconomy I intend to major in biomedical engineering though. Of what little I know about the college, their biomedical engineering program is ranked near the top of the country.

I applied here. Based solely on this video, my inclination to go here rather than my other choices has increased approximately 65%. This is awesome.
