  • Beautiful horse, great performance!

Does anybody know what's the song that's played at the beginning? PLEASE. THANK YOU! :D

  • Oh and I ride western, starting English so I'm not a hater, just making a point :P

  • Nothing we do to the horses are "natural". Horses weren't made to jump--at all! But they also weren't made to gallop around barrels and weave through poles. So quit acting like your sport is perfectly fine for the horse. And those dressage moves--horses are definitely not made for that but not for sudden stops either. I think most would agree with this.

  • @SpenceAndAria729

i totally disagree with you. veteranarians and scientists have proven that the sports such as: reining, barrel racing, pole bending, cutting, roping, straight-away barrels, dressage, polo games, western pleasure, jumping, etc. are just fine. now dressage is another story. my mom used to work with dressage horses and she stopped because she found out they put some sort of hot sauce on the bottom the horses hooves to make them raise their hooves higher sometimes.

  • @iluvhorses7898 Oh...well I guess iI should have looked at all the possibilities...and should've made sure I knew what I was talking about completly. Thanks for informing me! :) And yeah, they are I didin't think of that. That they're just taking the things from in the wild and putting a "twist" to it. And that's cool that you are a horse trainer!!! I've always wanted to train horses...:/ Have a good day! :)

  • @SpenceAndAria729 God created these animals to do these kinds of things out in the wild, humans are just taking their ability and turning them into a passion, need, and sport. I personally do not like dressage, its beautiful, but like i said...hot sauce. My mom and i are experienced horse trainers so dont tell me im wrong. being only 13.....i know alot. I love my horses with all

  • @SpenceAndAria729 of my heart and would do anything to protect them, but God created them for man. JUMPING over rocks, SIDE STEPPING over logs, PRANCING over fallen soldiers, SLIDING STOPS before running over a cliff or into barbwire, ROLL BACKS to run from predators, etc.***start at the bottom and read up****

  • Wow that is one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen! Great ride! :)

  • Yeah the horses ears are back it's loping really fast and always listening u dumb fucks

  • Will people just shut up and realize that every type of riding puts pressure and damage on joints.

  • p2: capable of doing full blown sliding stops and performing spins. the only reason why they wear some wear so many boots it to prevent injuries, not because they already have some. ive done a high level of dressage, western and show jumping and i know for a fact that reining horses are less likely to get injured than show jumpers, everything is smooth and steady not jerky or uncomfortable. reining isn't learnt over night and its not easy, but its deffinatly better for riders with arthritis.

  • p1: you lot are so fucking retarded when it comes to knowing anything about western! someone was complaining because the horses ears are back! wtf? that's pretty average for reining horses are they're constantly listening to their riders waiting for the next command, id like to see some show jumpers be that obedient, calm and relaxed for the whole time. also someone said that reiners suffer from arthritis hence why they wear loads of boots??? yeah ok, because arthritic horses are obviously p2

  • That is one beautiful horse. I want one! Haha Shawn did a beautiful job as did Little Chic!

  • AWESOME!!!! pattern 10 I believe?

  • I love how folks on here are talking about all this bull about joints and what horses naturally do in the wild. Human contact with horses isn't natural so you have no argument. Joints wear down weather you ride competitively or for fun just like humans.

  • You can tell how much this horse loves its job!!!!

  • @rhythmofmyheart1113 i really hope thats sarcastic coz its ears are back :/

  • @TheBessierocks no, actually it wasnt... its ears are back, not pinned for one. and they are back because they are listening for voice commands from their rider. also, i dont think you would want wind in your ears when you are running.

  • @rhythmofmyheart1113 Sorry but i've seen horses running with there ears forward so thats bullshit

  • @TheBessierocks whatever take your negative comments somewhere else, because obviously you have not the love of the sport.

  • @rhythmofmyheart1113 lol ok then. and yes i have no love for this sport. (reining i mean) and other western apart from western pleause because thats all ill ever use it for

  • Can I use this clip for a video?

  • mind if i use this clip in a video ?

  • Actually, Wimpys Little Chic isn't small. She's actually a nicey built mare. Quarter Horses are considered 'stock breeds', because they do western and because they tend to be stocky themselves. Trust me, I'm sure she has no problem at all carrying Shawn around.

  • I love Shawn! My Trainers horse, the horse i ride alot was trained with him :)

She is now an amazing reining horse! Great Ride shawn!

  • Dicker Mann auf kleinem, dünnen Pferd verlangt von diesem höchst belastende Aktionen. Was kann man daran gut finden?

Fat man on a small, thin horse requires most stressful actions. How you can find it good?

  • i have her half sister, and two half brothers and they're the most talented reiners I've ever had. super pretty too:)

  • Can you do reining to music too?

  • phenomenal horse and phenomenal rider!

i love reining. my horse isn't even a tenth of the horse that is. he's a little "pleasure" reiner :P

  • If I were that horse, after the turnabouts and spins,Id be so dizzy I'd be running into walls

  • Wimpys Little Chic showing the world how its done.

  • This is sooo coooL!

  • So I used to really like reining and then I started to look at the way the horses move, hear me out and have a look; the horses ears are always back? minor detail, i don't think so, the tail has been fixed it has no movement what so ever, not even a nice swing that denotes a relaxed back, at the end the horse is shaking just before he backs up to reagain his balance, that is why he gets off so no one can see it, if he was a woman and weighed this much you would all be disgusted.

  • @nipper1065 im srry to inform you but if you look at eny horse in eny event they all do that. im a big reiner and i hate whne people start saying things that are not true he got off in the arena bc he was geting interviewed. he is a big time reiner and no matter wat you are trying to say about him but he is way better then you will ever be.so shut your mouth and quit talking crap. if you look at then horse you will c that it is a young horse and he probley worked it in the bck.

  • @nipper1065 There is a differance between the ears being back and them being pinned. Pinned is aggression. Horse put their ears BACK to listen. And getting the shots to the tail is BANNED in EVERY reining event.. The horse doesn't shake to regain balance. If she was stumbling all over the place that would be trying to regain balance. And he's not ONLY getting off to be interviewed but there IS an EQUIPMENT CHECK they go through at the end. Shut up if you don't know what you're talking about.

  • wow.........

  • Shawn ist der beste...<333

    Er reitet soo geil !:)

  • Cool

  • He never dissapoints us! Wimpys little step, wimpys little chic, gunnatrashya.... He just keeps it comin'! Great horses with heart and flash. Big stops, fast spins, smooth changes.... It doesn't get any better than that.

  • What are they cheering about during the contest?

  • after each move they were probably cheeing cause he did really good

  • In reining thats how they say good job or that looked cool. It isn't a silent sport like dressage.

  • I thought it was illegal to deaden a horses tail?

  • Beautiful! the mare get super low in the fast circles..simply beautiful on all levels. hes amazing.

  • i wanna find out what his stud price is.

  • @AQHorseFaN16 - you know Wimpy's Little Chic is a mare, right? Wimpy's Little Step is $7500 in 2010, plus chute fee, plus shipping. Good luck - don't breed a dull mare to him. Find a touchy mare...that's what I've heard.

  • WOW!!! Very, very impressive. As a matter of fact, EXPECTACULAR!!! I've always seen him

on one of the commercials on RFD-TV, but never saw a video on him or anything, and now that I did, I am completely amazed!!

  • chizzy, those stops are very, very good. :) They are trained to put their heads down when they stop and her legs just look strange because they are moving while her hind legs are in the dirt to get the sliding effect. Its judged on how well the horse performs the task and how little cues the rider gives. The more perfection the horse does by itself, the better. Basically, its a western form of dressage.

  • Also, how and on what are they judged/marked? Cheers

  • Can someone please explain to me what reining is about? Is it the agility of the horse? Its obedience? It's heartstopping to see a horse to slide to a stop like that...Chic's front feet had a considerable wobble on there as it came to a halt and with it's head bowed as if it hurt. PLease don;t answer with sarcasm, I'm not critising, I know nothing about the sport... I'm curious..and a bit concerned about those stops :)

  • OH MY GOD!! THAT IS CRAZY!!!

  • hes riding a stallion for clinton naderson this year at the futurity, he has already won big on him. They are thinking he is going ot win the 09 futurity.

  • awesome ride!

  • nice hard stopper :) i like the horse

  • thought it was interesting he came out of each stop on the wrong lead...not illegal, i know, but why? great run

  • because that horse had very nice rollbacks with very quick reaction, so in the fast turn around the horse can't think about his legs, 'cos it's to much quickly.

  • My reining trainer said that it was because he traines his horse to rollback and get out of there. So they go out of therefast come out on what ever lead then if it is wrong they change leads:)

  • ok, so that makes sense but we think that when he is training his horses to roll back, he backs them up a few steps to get them on their haunches, then instead of doing a 180, he will turn them all the way around another time and lopes off, to keep the horse from jumping out of it three quarters of the way around. So therefore, the horse is thinking about a full turnaround instead of a rollback, and so the opposite foot usualy lands and they come out on that lead. Please tell me what you think

  • Yes he does do that. That is kinda what I meant he spins them fast so they come out of there fast. You are 100% correct!

  • because you only have to be in the right lead coming around the corners not along the sides.

  • I'll tell you, I don't know much about horses, and I didn't even know what "futurity" was until I saw this video, but I got GOOSE BUMPS watching this horse. Greatness doesn't need to be explained! Wow!

  • I love reiners! Great horse! One of my top five favorite equine sports:) what alot of people dont see is that they NATURALLY stop on there hind in. my filly has been doing stops like that sinse she was born.

  • Mine too, she did reining spins in the pasture before they were taught to her. Even a yearling reining filly at the barn I work at does sliding stops and rollbacks in the pasture.

  • poor horse? Look at the show-jumpers - they are poor horses! Reining is the best!

  • It isn't mean! These horses love their job and get the best care possible! And what do you do with your horse that is so perfect?!

  • I have a 9 yo who is still competing. I guarantee he will vet clean except for a very old OCD on his left ankle. All of mine are on joint supplements, massage, and chiropractic for maintenance. Their work outs aren't strenuous and the only place they are asked to "give it" is in the arena which is about twice a month. They love their jobs and live like kings and queens. All horses should be so fortunate.

  • anything and everything people do to horses will have an impact on them physically in the long run. however reiners, jumpers, dressage pros - they all take very good care of their horses meaning most horses are on joint and tendon supplements and treatments to help them with any problems they may have.

  • What stinks is your attitude!

  • YEAH!!!! GO REINERS!!!! beautiful run

  • Wow what a horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a beautiful horse! It never ceases to amaze me the skill and pure beauty that the American Quarter Horse exhibits. Wonderful mare!

  • Wimpy is such a beauty! Her full-stop is the most perfect I have ever seen. What a great horse!

  • Reining horses are so small

  • actually most reining horses stand anywhere from 14.3 hands to 16.1+ with large muscles and the most incredible talent.

  • That little filly has a LOT of heart... and even more talent x]

  • i agree. if you ever get to ride or even show a horse like her u´r the luckiest person in the world it´s an honour!!!!!!!

  • I love Wimpy, he is sucha great horse, I would give a pint of blood just to have a horse out of him! Sucha well put together horse, such a great foundation!

  • That horse rocks! Reining is definatlay the best sport in the world!

  • I love that horse and I would do anything to have a run like that

  • Wimpys Little Chic Rocks!!!

  • You know what else destroys horses joints? Dressage, barrel racing, jumping, endurance, trails, Cutting, Every discipline destroys their joints and causes arthritis. So, just get over it.

  • @horsecrazy11 Dressage doesnt really destroy their joints. I mean sure some of the olympic movements do but basic training level and lower levels dont really. Dressage means training go look it up if you dont believe me. And plus that would mean you said trainig hurts them. It depends what kind

  • @horsecrazy11 Dressage doesnt really destroy their joints. I mean sure some of the olympic movements do but basic training level and lower levels dont really. Dressage means training go look it up if you dont believe me. And plus that would mean you said training hurts them. It depends what kind of training

  • @JumpingPerfection121 I was trained in Dressage so I know what it is. But I hate it when people say that this destroys joints, when trained correctly, it won't destroy their joints. Same with Dressage and I know that. I just forgot to state that.

  • @horsecrazy11 Yes I agree. People just are ignorant about it and need to do some research before stating a false comment. Yeah and to add to what you were saying I mean theses horse's are in very good shape and have supplements for their joints. And that is also why the wear boots on the horses. The people who made those comments need to their research b4 they go and say something is wrong when they clearly know nothing about it. I mean jumping puts more stress on than reining.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 Yeah, reining is one of my favorite sports and I love it very much! I agree that jumping puts more stress on a horses joints than reining does, jumping puts more stress on a horses joints more than any discipline. I sometimes think people believe that these horses are not in good shape or something. They need to realize how much training goes into making those stops and spins perfect. Just like in Dressage to make the Pirouette perfect or a move of that sort. =)

  • @JumpingPerfection121 I'm sorry but horses jump naturally, they don't do all these tight turns etc or whatever naturally. And if they do its not as natural as jumping, as they jump in the WILD

  • @TheBessierocks Of course they CAN jump naturally. That still doesnt mean that is doesnt put stress and agony on their joints. When horses jump 4 and 5 feet you can't tell me that doesnt harm their joints, it DOES!!! That's why they have specially formulated joint supplements for jumping horses. So don't point the finger saying Im wrong when you clearly have some false facts. Everything I said is true. Reining can destroy their joints but that's why reining ppl have boots, supplements, (c)

  • @JumpingPerfection121 I dnt jump 4 - 5 foot yet. Oh so when jumping they have there ears forward coz its hurting ? yes that sounds just about right. you twat i live in england i know more about show jumping and english riding then you do.

  • @TheBessierocks Expensive vet appointments, wraps, etc. For their joints. Jumping horses have this to but in reining their joints aren't being smashed together as a horses would when landing a JUMP. In reining their joints will grind not so much as smash. The horses I have seen with really bad arthritis have been jumpers. Believe me I've seen a lot of horses with arthritis in my time

  • @JumpingPerfection121 well i havent seen any jumpers with arthritis. I've seen it as barrel racers.

  • @TheBessierocks Well barrels are hard on their joints as well, but jumping horses have some of the most toll on their joints.

  • Acutally.. you're in the wrong discipline. It's in the western pleasure/horsemanship world that they do the most nerve blocks on horses tails... And too much of ANYTHING can destroy a horses joints, especially at a young age. That's why these guys work so hard to take the best care of these animals. The longer they last, the more money they make!

  • hmmm i see jumpers destroying horses joints btw :P

  • Get over it. Most horses love their job like this one. Most of these horses have the best care. And please don't insult Shawn Flairda he is really nice! Me and my friend got him to autograph our t-shirts!

  • Shawn Flarida is amazing and really good horse trainer and rider!!! I very like his rides!!! He's really good! I think, that Rudi have very similar training metods!!!

  • It's fantastic!I love Shawn Flarida!!!!

  • She is a beautiful little mare. I loved it when she put her head down after each set of spins as if to say "Yes daddy. What should I do now?" She's beautiful and so willing. Very responsive to legs, and had breathtaking stops. Kudos to both.

  • I loved this performance, and the horse ofcourse.Shawn and his mare obviously worked hard for this, and it shows.I liked the way he got off,and hugged her. i never saw a guy do that before on a show, lol.A very sympathetic team.

  • What a beautiful run -- she's a gorgeous horse and I like the way he rides her. I really love the way he hugged her. Sometimes special horses/riders bring me to tears, this is certainly one of them. Great job, Shawn! I wonder who they will breed her to - mare power rules!

  • Marcy's was better,no offense. But the stops were huge and he should have been a zero because he got off before she was done backing up!

  • I will have to agree. That run should have been a 0. It would have been if she had taken 1 more step and the fact that he got off first. He never gets off at the end of a run. He usually rides to the end of the arena. Oh well. I have seen Shawn get extra points just b/c of who he is. Comes with that level of talent and respect. Great rider and trainer.

  • that was a beautiful ride i loved the left spins =) it was awesome well the whole ride was awesome

  • Beautiful horse and ride, it's just too bad that they tail blocked the horse. It's painfully obvious.

  • There is no reason to ask the question she MIGHT be the best reiner of all time, she IS the best reiner of all time. She is so athletic. When she came around for her final stop she brought it home. When she stopped she stood there with her head down as if saying " Here i am and this is what i bring." Awesome mare, absolutely outstanding. A wonderful job to Shawn & Wimpys Little Chic.

  • shes such a pretty mare...they are a good match together...i wish i ha 2.4 million dollars lol

  • this horse is talented as they come

  • For heaven's sake. A horse can NOT be OUT of a stallion! It can be BY a stallion.

  • Thats a real hell of a horse

  • HAHA That was freakin AWSOME!!! I love wimpy! I ride him ALL the time! He stands at my families ranch (GREEN VALLEY RANCH) in aubrey Tx!! I JUST LOVE HIM!!!

  • I love this type of horse. I own two of them. Sweet Ride!!!!

  • What a sweet ride! That was awesome!

  • .... im hungry

  • one of the best horses i´ve ever seen!!!

  • Ok .. I train reining horses. The reason for the collection and the head to the ground is to show the horse's willingness to stay calm. In the ideal situation, there would be pauses between stops, spins, and rollback, and backing to show the horse's willingness to stay calm under pressure. Also, we teach our horses extreme collection and to keep their nose to the ground so when the adrenaline airs them up at the show they look more natural.

  • I don't understand the nose to the ground in today's reining horses. It's not natural and in my opinion, it hampers the horse's ability. It certainly doesn't make the horse look good. But what do I know - I only trained and showed for 35 years. Didn't compete in reining but I seem to remember a more natural head carriage back in the dark ages.

  • okay, I'm an event rider and I'll tell ya, watching reining rides like that make me want to switch disciplines.

  • im also an eventer, nd my mom just bought a horse whose half brother to this horse. its so much fun to ride him he's amazing!

  • AWESOME RIDE!!!

  • i love how sensitive this horse is. the rider seemed to eat his movements a couple times because she picked up on his cues better than he intended. like on the rollbacks. gorgeous horse. it's head position is impeccable.

  • Great filly....I hope she got her reward after she did win all that money...seems like Shawn was getting all the cudos!!!!!

  • Shawn and Andrea Fappani are the best in the industry and usually are riding some of the best horses.

  • wait so are no points taken off cuz he rolled back into the wrong lead? i guess thats only if u come around the end in the wrong lead right? he still pwned it.

  • they can backup but aren't sapost to make more than 4 steps or it's a dq

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice run BUT the horse didn't stop backing up after the last stop. Shawn jumps off the horse before the horse stopped moving. Isn't that considered a DQ?

  • she is just kinda of fidgetting around..if you look at last years run, randy pauls mare did the exact same thing

  • This ride was reviewed at the event, and because the horse stops, and has to regain it's balance with a couple small steps, that is okay. At that point the ride is completed. Then the horse steps back as Shawn is removing his hat, but the ride is already over at that point. It would have had to take 8 steps back right-away to DQ.

  • @RexWager

I know and Love Shawn Flarida's riding. But there are numerous mistakes in this reining pattern that must have been over looked.

  • What a sweet ride! That was awesome! More awesome reining horses on the website called OnlyReiningHorses

  • the wimpy colts are turing out awesome..this filly looks just like her daddy, her stops are huge. Andrea's Wimpy colt is probably a bit more stylish than this one

  • Belissimo cavalo,excelente prova. FANTASTICO !

  • Shawn Flarida The BEST ever...

    No More... =D
