yesterday i saw one of these in curacao at night

it came down as a falling star then slowed down and started fading away.

a few second later it turned into a white light and started to move.

while it was moving it turned on and of. its the second time it has happend.

They were seen in Virginia, USA right before midnight then again a few minutes after and then again at about 1:00 a.m. These aren't chinese lanterns. They wouldn't move like that.

@mommaseal i saw them too in Fairfax County, Virginia about 12:30 am. I yelled for my mom to come and look. Our house sits at the highest point in our neighborhood. My father was an aviator I know what planes and flares look like. Unless there is some kinda new thing out I am pretty certain they aren't chinese lanterns.

Look, just because it's round and orange doesn't mean Chinese lanterns.. I saw something similar a few years back with two other people right next to me- except at any given time there were 1-4 of them and they traveled incredibly fast forward and backwards and in z shape patterns- miles in a matter of seconds. I would not have believed it myself if there hadn't been two other witnesses. I'd like to see a Chinese lantern do that.

they aren't chinese lanterns, they can fly in strange manouevers, sometimes extremely fast, and looked at close up they are actually 5 orbs , one central and 4 smaller ones, also , i have to say this, not only was i psychically prompted in my own voice to get a camera and go out and video them, but also they go through periods where they follow me around...they can vary enormously in size , from tennis ball to around 12 feet across, have a constant solid internal illumination. Yet me and my frined saw lights like these travelling above a dual carriage way and with three in front and two behind then all of a sudden the two behind in less than a second shot right in fron t of the three lights and then all five lights shot away very fast. that was some freaky shit

I was driving down the road and almost wrecked when I saw this exact thing in Mississippi on 01/01/11. I pulled over and recorded a video with my phone. There were 4 lights total two stayed close together and seemed to move in sync with each other the the other two flew in weird back and forth patterns always staying in a circular perimeter of each other. They were moving across the sky instead of showing descent or climbing altitude. It thought is was fireworks but they never exploded!

It seems many idiots don't know the difference between chinese lanterns and non-chinese lanterns (mainly undereducated noobs, or americans).

Chinese lanterns all tend to move in one direction as they follow the wind, not move into shapes and against the flow. Also they tend to catch fire or melt. Bits falling off are the melted, burning plastic.

If you say Chinese lantern when they are not. Suicide is an option.

iv been seeing these for months over selsey, the weirdest lot i see though there were a good 15-20 of them in a huge diamond formation moving across the sky in perfect allignment left then right and it lasted a good 30 mins before they seemed to move up rather rapidly in a erratic motion and just dissappear so before anyone says it no they were not chinese lanterns as iv seen them released before and know how they move through the sky

I had two orange balls of light hover towards me about 50 feet from me at terraced rooftop height they got to about 10 feet from me then one just disappeared and the other flew off towards the clouds and was in the clouds in about 3 seconds. I was watching them through my kitchen window which faces towards my back garden. Have just witnessed about 15 glowing lights in the sky, over a period of 30 minutes, the last 'light' seemed to 'split' and drop a glowing light which dropped and disappeared behind some trees in the horizon. I love how people say they are Chinese lanterns, but cannot explain it when they move around in such symmetrical patterns and then fly of at high speeds.

I guess some, maybe all are Chinese lanterns, but id love to know how they make them move so fast, in formation at speeds that are faster than most jet aircraft we currently have.

Hey, saw one tonight over Biggleswade England, about 22:00...... exactly like this!!! Bright bright orange, moving slowly around... about 5 mins before it just seemed to gain height and distance.... something fell from it, looked like it was on fire but it defo was not a lantern or firework or anything else.... no noise from it, and it moved around with a purpose. We have had thunderstorms here, ive checked ball lightining and by all accounts they leave trails, which this did not... spooked!
