every year at the High School graduation ceremony they have the "passing of the pipe" which the seniors pass an actual pipestone pipe onto the next years senior class, this pipe is decorated with many previous years colored ribbons... these are white kids, not a native around!
Yankton Sioux are suppose to be the guardians of the Pipestone quarry, yet white people bought it & own it, they also sell the sacred stone of mother earth in several places. Pipestone is prejudice, they don't care about Indians or their heritage, they only care about profiting off them, lining their greedy pockets with cash.. ask the few natives who live here, they will tell you the truth of this town, the law etc., and how rugid they are treated & intimidated
