Wow, this just really inspired me. I think tomorrow i'm going to find a McLaren F1, and turn it into a dune buggy, because i really like how the seat is in the middle.

I tend to agree with 'francebros' below, lock this Sands character up in a psychiatric hospital as very sadly there are now only 499 of these motogp replicas on planet earth...if you're going to create something so called 'unique' then do so from scratch but to butcher a Desmosedici is just plain crass...the guy is from the design studio of 'we did it because we could'... but pleeeeeese, stick with ripping apart your ten-a-penny Harley cart horses in future !!
This is a Undoubtedly cool bike but it was a Weird choice. This guy took a limited edition 100,000 dollar Desmosedici and kinda ruined it. I know some people say that its creative (which it is) but taking a perfectly wind tunnel tested aerodynamic body and throwing on random panels and leaving some parts exposed is crazy. I really like the bike but I think a 1198s could have done almost exactly the same for 1/4th of the price.
@tameemz90 An excellent point, but ask yourself if either of us would even be talking about it if it was an 1198...there just may be a method to his madness. This is also pretty similar to the quintessential element of the original chopper/outlaw culture, which was sometimes "just to piss people off."
I like trackers, I really love Roland Sands' work and I absolutely love the desmo....... but frankly, I don't like the both combined (tracker+Desmo). As it is, the Desmo is a super-rare, super-expensive and super-exotic machine..... and to see one getting disassembled and being redone as a Tracker just broke my heart........... no offence Roland Sands, I have immense respect for u.... bt this is one experiment u shouldnt have done. U lost a fan here.
It may be "..still pretty cool..." as one poor idiot has commented. I would like to know how it feels, after having dismantled a perfect high speed bike and putting together a flat tracker which turns out to be totally useless . Didn't you confess yourself that you did on of the greatest shit in your life? You can buy a D16 but no intelligence.
@xjonny99 Go buy one and rip it apart. Find out. Cant afford it? Don't bitch how someone chooses to use it's components. Most desmo's never see a road, or a track, or even something resembling dirt. Creativity is seriously lacking in the motorcycle world, and it's people like you who hold fast to the "old" ways of thinking a desmo is for "tracks only" who are holding it back. Do I have a use for it? No. is it neat? yup. Get off your soap box, and trying looking at things from a different angle.
when they must have a V4 engine, ok, take a RSV4 (for my ist this still an shit idea) and i didnt have a problem with it but a limited ducati? for me is this disrespectful for the desmosedici....
Interesting idea. Not sure I would have ripped apart a desmo for it, maybe an RSV4 would have served the purpose better or an 1198. Either way, still pretty cool, and something different. Nevermind all the smacktards running around saying you've destroyed something. They have no idea what a desmo is or what it's capable of, so this street tracker is of no difference to them. If you want art go to a fucking museum.
@DaShnipa 2 words : Brain dead. But you must really believe the shit you are talking, as you are the one who will never have the opportunity to ride such bikes nor understand what's behind the idea of a high speed bike concept.
@xjonny99 It's only a bike!! omg its a desmo... WOW big deal. You hard core ducati guys are almost laughable in your approach to motorcycles and their "specific" applications. I have a very solid understanding of a high speed bike, don't presume anything because I will gladly make you look like a tool. No I wont have a chance to ride a desmo, nor do I want one. It's a motor, frame, carbon fibre and fibreglass. Nothing more, and how someone chooses to use it is well none of your god damn concern.

@VeltroVentiTre And you think the people that buy desmo's actually use them? Give me a break kid. Go to a museum if you want art. Motorcycles are for riding not for staring at. RSD has created something unique, and by the looks of it a ton of fun to ride. You'll never sit on a desmo let alone open it up, so this tracker is of no difference or consequence to you. Bashing it shows single minded thought with no spark or passion for our sport. Please go back to waxing your vespa.
@DaShnipa first: You think motorcycles are for riding? Congratulations! Its the right answer. BUT a Desmosedici is for streettracks and not for this fuckin Dirtshit. You would streetracebike on the dirt then buy a fuckin japanese bike we have millions of R1,ZX10.... and nowbody would cares when one of these get raped by a couple of idiots for such a shit. Oh and you think the people didn't ride the desmosedici? sorry but look how much videos on youtube are.
@VeltroVentiTre It's an V4... WHOOPTY SHIT!!! Aprilia Makes one for far less money, and with a few mods is complete capable of destroying an Desmo on the track. It's carbon fibre and fibreglass... nothing fancy or exciting about it, all bikes these days are running it. The reason you don't want in I4 for dirt track is because of TORQUE or lack there of. Most people treat them as trailer queens and collection items. If you can find a way to race it or ride it, dirt track or other... DO IT.
Rednecks with money!?!? wtf destroyed a perfectly good running Desmosedici for this crap? get a 1198 engine and add a frame and you have same result without killing one of the best bikes around idiots!
That is one bad ass burly dirt tracker! Right on! I think its great. I wish I had a $ for all the haters on youtube. Then I could build one just to piss em off!
Some of you guys are narrow minded jack asses. Amazing project. Bike looks way to hectic for the rider, but that kind of power is pretty much to much for everyone. Wonder what that thing would do at the Indy mile!!
@mcernicky1 How does this bike compare to the custom R1 street tracker? Both look like more fun than should be legal! Maybe a comparison in the future?
Sands made a badass bike even more badass for certain bikers. Don't crucify creatvity because it's not your style. Roland does what we could if we could, appreciate it!
and for our next project we're turning Michelangelo's David into a swing set and slippery dip at McDonalds playground. He's going to be painted up to look like the hamburgurler.
First, please pick up a copy of the December issue of Cycle World for the full feature story ; bike build, riding impression and history of Ducati dirt track racing. It’s all in there. Or at least read the web-story; Yes 19-inch wheels front and rear/again not wrong if you could afford such a thing/Yes, 4 hand made FMF exhausts. And yes Gregg's R1 is super rad/easier to ride and I had more time on it just not in the dirt. Springfield was all arranged/ windstorm/concert killed people...cancelled.
Holy fuck i wanna see nicky on that at the springfeild mile! Its a shame the ama only allows twing now after the tz750 way to ruin it for everyone kenny! Lmao that this is super cool!

You’re right…just never had any traction. And backing-in a $200,000 bike aimed at our photographer face, nope, not a big deal at all...
Hey producer, youtube lets you post ten minutes of video. How about some b roll without a music bed and flashing zooming and hot cutting. Just say no to overdoing it.
Por favor habéis destrozado una de la mejores motos del mundo para hacer una cosa horrible que me daría vergüenza conducir, parece una motocroos de 50cc...
I'd been waiting to see a video featuring this bike... just a shame that most of the sounds seem to be muted - I really wanted to hear that bike scream...
@markadorjan Read the article. This is his 3rd Desmo. One he rides, one is brand new, not out of the crate. This bike he bought as a salvage title. Besides, the way it sounds, if he wanted, since none of the parts were cut, you could re-assemble it to stock. Pull off the RSD parts and put the stock ones back on. But this bike is so sick I wouldn't. A Desmo that looks sick and can slide like that! Awesome.
It's a brave project, but I can't help but think they could have done it with a 1098 and still achieved a similar result. The end bit seems a bit too "humble" considering where it's come from...
I will admit that I do usually like Rolands creations but this just looks like a knock off of the R1 Tracker. With the Gregg's customs RFK bike radiator shrouds. Just with an Italian theme. The number plate, sure I like how he added the ram air duct and made it look like the desmos stock intake. Functional or not but it's straight from the R1 Tracker other than that intake snout. Oh the tail is original, that's nice!
Love it! Really nicely done with some nice touches, look at that exhaust routing. There are 1499 Desmo's being paddled around by people who can't ride, this one is leaving black lines on the way into corners :)
Why did you destroyed the state-of-art in motorcycle to make this crap!!!!! Perhaps because I am european I don't understand you speed-tracker-or-whatever... but now we have reasons to declare WW3, you insulted our culture!!
@ankhises Fucking pathetic mate... I'm EU too....and what fucking culture are you talking about... a GP replica of a private firm selling for a fortune... he has every right to do so... and what if he made a café racer of it? Sands been always on the revolutionary side of things – that's why we love his work. No one even dare to touch that bike... but why? No one could ride that thing except Casey... come on, declare a war on your boring life!
Cool. It seems way too much power for dirt. You need traction control. Very nice looking. I'm a Multistrada rider (which I won't even take off road....).
Sorry Sands........ there's ton's of bikes out there to do such a thing to. With only 1500 of these fabulous bikes on the planet, surely there are others to make a mockery of.
What's next........a Ferrari rock climber with full scale model of Christ on cross on trailer behind it ?

I will admit that I do usually like Rolands creations but this just looks like a knock off of the R1 Tracker. With the Gregg's customs RFK bike radiator shrouds. Just with an Italian theme. The number plate, sure I like how he added the ram air duct and made it look like the desmos stock intake. Functional or not but it's straight from the R1 Tracker other than that intake snout. Oh the tail is original, that's nice!

I would love to see a head to head comparison between this Duc Tracker and the Gregg's Customs R1 Tracker.
I watched both vids and from the looks of it Cernicky had to pussy foot that Duc around compared to the way he was able to rip that R1 Tracker.

Oh yea!!! Get your build on Boathas!!!

Really? This about as dumb as it can get.

Love it! Really nicely done with some nice touches, look at that exhaust routing. There are 1499 Desmo's being paddled around by people who can't ride, this one is leaving black lines on the way into corners :)

Burns sweeping? Wow.

Why did you destroyed the state-of-art in motorcycle to make this crap!!!!! Perhaps because I am european I don't understand you speed-tracker-or-whatever... but now we have reasons to declare WW3, you insulted our culture!!
ankhises 4 months ago
@ankhises Fucking pathetic mate... I'm EU too....and what fucking culture are you talking about... a GP replica of a private firm selling for a fortune... he has every right to do so... and what if he made a café racer of it? Sands been always on the revolutionary side of things – that's why we love his work. No one even dare to touch that bike... but why? No one could ride that thing except Casey... come on, declare a war on your boring life!

Like the paint scheme BUT why, why a desmo, really dumb in my opinion

Man, why not?! This project is great. Put this thing on a bigger, smoother track, say, the Indy Mile? :)
