  • Does any one notice the tree on top of the water tower? 0.o

  • @BTCRAIL101FILMS - this was taken in December 2005 ... that is a Christmas tree!

  • His eye's are moving!

  • I'm a member of strasburg RR

  • I wish the Thomas's would get more respect and attention from railfans. These are real pieces of rail equipment, one is even a real steam locomotive, and they're all worth chasing as something you definitely don't see everyday.

  • I WENT THERE BEFORE!

  • Thanks for that video, it brings back special memories for me. I love Thomas the Tank Engine!

  • @schancey100 - you are welcome!

  • I was there too

  • WOW! Can you still go see this train? My son would love to go see it. Thats awesome.

  • lol ithe face is like bachmann

  • OMG! When I was 7, I always imagined riding on Thomas!! Now it's possible! Wait.... where's Anny and Clarabelle???

    TT_TT

  • Fascinating mod of a six-coupled yard steamer. I presume that larger water tanks than originally used with this locomotive had to be fabricated to realize the British scaling?

  • OHHHH lucky to see him Xp i saw him today and i was happy my mother almost passed out to actully see thomas was real yay Thomas!

  • I'm with Nathaniel -- this is cool

  • Great, he got the cowcatchers, but where are the sideplates? Har Har.

  • Very cool

  • We have a Thomas weekend here in Bo'ness Scotland.

Great video and a good copy.

  • I'm going to the train museum in Illinois with my family today, my nephew's gonna see Thomas. I'll post vids later today.

  • that is one of the best real steam thomas's ive ever seen great vid :D

  • great job replicating him,but they should have built the cylinders inbetween the wheels.

  • wow

  • oh man i remeber this place. i miss going there as a kid

  • does this loco belong to strasburg

  • @288jh It does. It used to be a New York Terminal switcher, but Strasburg sends it on tour to different railroads as Thomas. The only thing we DON'T own is the face, which belongs to HIT.

  • my son Nathan loved this video thanx

  • Wow, they even have his eyes moving. Cool!

  • The kids who love Thomas love this thing even if the parents may think it's annoying. After driving 4 hours to see him, the 17 minutes weren't long enough but my little boy had a great day and in the end, that's all that really matters.

  • Cool. I'll be working there this summer, so this'll be interesting if they hold it over the summer.

  • i was on that before

  • nice! best replica train in the world

  • i wish my little girl could see this she would be so excited :) but sweet video where is this filmed :) ???

  • I went on that years ago at christmas, it was AWESOME! Thanks for posting

  • I have been on that train

  • railroad workers call thomas the tank engine tomas the bank enigine because they get lots of money on day out with thomas. also, the strausburg railroad is one of my fave places to go!

  • thats pretty cool but where is the fat controller??

  • ah, i go here every summer, my brother goes to college in millersville near here and we live like 2 hours away.

  • thats awesome i wish when i was a kid i got to go on a Thomas the tank engine train that's the sweetest thing around

  • I didn't think Thomas The Tank Engine even escaped British television, especially to the states lol.

I used to watch it when I was a kid!

  • me too lol good times...

  • I mention it in my description, but I will say it here again ... ANY negative comments will be removed.

  • You must have had some real issue with comments.

  • I am just tired of people saying this Thomas isn't constructed exactly as it should be, etc. It was a very fun experience to take my kids to see a life-sized Thomas. I'm grateful for those who enjoy the video and have something positive to say. I simply don't want the negative stuff associated with my video! Thx for the comment.

  • I understand that. Some people are just plain ignorant especially when it comes to kids stuff.

  • @mkrobinson95 Might come across slightly negative but being a British railway man myself who works on steam engines I am not a huge fan of American railways ruining historic engines to look like children programes. Apart from that its nice that its not only Britain you can ride a "real" thomas the tank engine I hope your children loved it. I certainly found it intresting :)

  • @1position69 Do they still use steam locos in Britain?

  • My son loves to watch Thomas videos on here. Nathaniel has become a household celebrity since we have all heard the video so many times in the background. This weekend we finally got to see Thomas and post a video of his own "like Nathaniel's"

  • You don't truly think that Rev. Awdry had designed every single Thomas character. I know for a fact that Gorden is modeled after the LNER's Flying Scotsman locomotive built by the Doncaster Co. in 1923. What you see here is a americanized Thomas. Notice the cylender on the outside and that it burns oil. British locomotives burned coal because it was it was the local burning sorce. I don't intened to insult but to inform of steam locomotive history. Thomas was my childhood pass-time

  • Well, Now a days operating steam locomotives use oil, because it's cheaper, but back when steam WAS the driving force until the 60's, they used coal.

  • The "Real" Thomas the Tank Engine was a Brithish Locomotive. It was built for the Southern Railway in England and did shunt coached and pull brnch line trains. Physical the two are exacly identicle but not in livery.

  • i live near strasbourg. the last time i went there for a day out with thomas is 2002. it was nice there and i know it, if u see the 10 years with thomas(or watever it is)it shows u interviews, the place itself and much more

  • That is too cool! My kids would like that!

  • I saw Thomas once at the Orange Empire train museum.

  • i waz there at the train musium

  • no effence or nutin to the americans but if u want to see a real thomaas day the uk is the best for that.

    good video tho

  • but the one at stardburg is a real operating steam locomotive from the 30's that they made looklike thomas. and no offense to u either but the thomases in the uk are small and out of proportion with the train so there!

  • that is so cool

  • your child looks nice

  • Cute. Ya'know that is actually former BEDT 0-6-0 #15

  • Strasburg? Is that where you live? I've been there, little town isn't it?

  • aww i remember i use to watch Thomas the Tank Engine!

  • omg when i waz little saw him in baltimore!

  • I been on that since I was 6 or 7.

  • Strasburg PA in amish country

  • weres this at my little boy would love to see that

  • at leaast this one isnt a tow

  • wow

  • theres a thomas in the UK on the bluebell railway and it has anny and clarbell the coachs he pulled aswell :)

  • lol i bet they must pay alot of royalties for that loco.

  • its loads and loads

  • Awesome! I wish I could see this!

  • I Love Strasburg PA

  • Ditto. But the side rods aren't quite accurate. You should see the Thomas's they have on other railways, they all look just like the original Thomas.

  • so what. as long as the kiddies enjoy.

  • Hmm... yeah, that's true. And he IS in the railroad near my town.

  • "Hometown," that is.

  • The reason why the rods aren't accurate is because this is a steam powered thomas. These rods need to go into a piston to be moved by steam to move the wheels. The other Thomas is a dummy engine with the looks and an air powerd wistle and a disel pushes it. If you hear a "chuff" and smoke comes out of the smoke stack you have an oil powered thomas.

  • Oh, well that makes a lot of sense.

  • Thank you.

  • Or you just go to the UK and see a proper Thomas!

  • I would if I could.

  • We go to Strasburg every year. Two years ago, Thomas was in the restoration area and last year he was gone. We never got to see him run. :(

  • I went to a place like this in England when I was about 3 (which would've been in 1993). The faces were painted, though, and the trains looked a lot cheaper. I don't remember seeing Thomas, but there was Donald and Douglas, Duck and Henry. I think that's all I remember seeing. I didn't know there were other places like this.

  • Cool! Moving Eyes!
