I don't understand why Sub-Zero is so overlooked. It's a really under-rated film that to me was almost as captivating as Mask of Phantasm. Great list minus no Under the Red Hood but this was made before so np.
@MetroidODST With all due respect, The Dark Knight was good, but I think the original 1989 film got everything right. The tone, the characters, the control, the production, EVERYthing. Michael Keaton is THE BATMAN. He's all about the eyes, which is not just an aesthetic observation. Batman's the detective.
IN BATMAN FOREVER...the batman comes and walks through the crowd like a simple man no grappling hooks no mysterious entry no theatrical abilities comes to the building chatting with cops like he use to hv coffee with them every evening at sunset wtf is that wat u call a batman movie ??? look at begins and dark knight batman comes and go and goons hardly knw wat is beating them now thats awesome batman is meant to be in dark covered with mystery not walking in flashlight and chatting around!!
i guess our frnd ENVELTHETRADER here likes to watch fake action and unreasonable stories well i wud prefer him to stay till the kid world of comics and cartoons and better not disgrace the serious feel of batman wat nolan and christian put together and cmon its really foolish to compare a cartoon and a movie..in cartoon u can show anything its animation but in movies the FEEL is wat necessary not the fake shouts and screwed up action whr batman is so much chatty and big mouthed like previously!!
My new top ten: 1.The Dark Knight 2.Batman Begins 3.Mask of the Phantasm 4.Under the Red Hood 5.Return of the Joker 6.Batman Forever 7.Batman '89 8.Batman: Year One 9.JL: Crisis on Two Earths 10.Gotham Knight
So,I take it you aren't a fan of Nolan's films, are you? Why don't you like them? They are fun,emotionally-involving,action-packed,intelligent,dark,and true to the character. What's not to like?
@NeoConnor1 their not batman. nolan himself said "forget about the batman comics", i dont dislike them i have both on bluray but i would never put nolans movies over any previous batman movies/cartoons.
Well,it is just my opinion. Even if he did said that(I never heard him say that), they are still true to the character, and they even had moments that are inspired by the comics and graphic novels, particulary frank miller's work. But I meant no disrespect. I respect your opinion.
@NeoConnor1 look it up, chris nolan said it himself. their good movies but they just dont have that batman feel. hopefully the reboot is more batmanish
I understand your viewpoints, but I happen to like all those things. I take the costumes and batmobile in Nolan's films over the Batman costume and Batmobile in B&R anyday.
@NeoConnor1 the costumes in the 90s movies werent really all that good the bat mobile was ok. nolans batmobile is just like a tank/car, it isnt the bat mobile. but as i said their good movies just not good batman movies.
@EnvelTheTrader begins and dark knight had the highest serious feel in the storyline the tricks and the strategies they shown by joker were marvellous that is wat called a batman movie wat nolan and christian made together before the batman was a fucking joke..best how nolan and christian bale felt the seriousness of a boy whose parents were murdered and how he choses to be wat made him batman..thats wat u call a story line..if u dnt understand begins and dark knight well..stop watching batman!
@TheRenzer9 i LIKE dark knight n begins, i got both on blu ray. BUT it doesnt have the batman feel. bale isnt a good batman. the suit and batmobile are horrible. batman was a joke? ur retarded...
10.Batman:The Movie-I like this movie, but it isn't in my top 10. A little too corny.
9.Forever-Love this movie. Personal favorite of the original four.
8.Subzero-Not a huge fan of this one.Was too short.
7.Returns-Hugely overrated.By far,the worst of the original four.I like what Burton was trying to do,but it was too ambitious and too bizzare at times.I think Burton is amazing, and is one of my favorite directors, but it was too flawed.
6.Gotham Knight-Really enjoy this one.The animation was great, and it was a dark and psychological look at the character.
5.Batman-Like I said,I love Burton's films, and this is one of his best.Nicholson and Keaton were amazing, and it is a intelligent and mature film. Best of the original four.
4.ROTJ-Love this movie. If you don't like Beyond, this will change your mind.
3.Begins-Terrific. Bought the character back to his roots.
1.The Dark Knight-Most people put this in the top spot, but I understand why.It is a masterpiece.Bale,Caine,Oldman,Freeman, and Eckhart were pheonomenal, action scenes rocked, story was terrific,it had a epic, and yet, emotional ending, and Ledger bought to the film to a whole new level. Bring on chapter 3,Nolan.
Hope I didn't offend your taste, but I don't care for Returns. I liked your list, though.Great list to the greatest superhero of all time.
The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie ever made. Batman Begins is second best. Then Under the Red Hood, Mask of the Phantasm and Gotham Knight. All the rest are better off forgotten. Tim Burton doesn't read comic books, and clearly had no idea what he was doing.
Mask of phantasm is my favorite batman movie, and one of my favorite movies period.it has such a great story and action that you forget it's a cartoon.personally I like that story better than even dark knight, but I also love dark knight as well.and ps...where is "batman and robin"?
Good list, but you put a Batman Beyond movie in front of Batman 1989? C'mon man. #5 should have been Batman: Under the Red Hood, and #4 should have been Batman 1989.
@Redbullgiveswings1 i really cant stand tdk because its a plain mainstream actionmovie and doesnt care about the comics and novels at all. Ledgers Joker is a frickin joke compared to Nicholsons.
this was well thought out and explained list, although i am a little unsure about Batman Beyond being ahead of Batman 1989. Then again even im sot sure which i like better.
@thee0zone He is the second robin, Jason Todd. The one that Batman recruited after Dick Grayson grew up and became Nightwing in the comics. Tim Drake was the third robin.
@biguy617 your absolutely right. i actually came to this video to remind me of what it was called but its not on here??????????? thanks for reminding of the name. great movie.
@johnwall2wizards Konroy voices Batman...so yes it is :P Yeah, it's an interesting concept of Batman, it also includes the famous 'Batman that nobody knows' theme which orginated in the 70s(?) in the comics. It's worth watching :)
i can tell youve spent alot of time on this and i like it, love that the batman beyond return of the joker was up there, very underrated movie and i love the Mask of the Phantasm, prolly my favorite batman movie of all time
Nice list. To me, Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman film, mainly due to it being a spin-off of Batman the Animated Series. My favorite live-action Batman film is Tim Burton's original classic. Don't get me wrong though, I agree that The Dark Knight is truly epic and well deserving of all its praise.
@TheGiantDouch I love The Dark Knight. All I'm saying is that it's full of flaws. Not to mention the fact that Harvey Two-Face's character was completely ruined. Batman Returns, on the other hand, has everything one could ever desire. A bad-ass Batman, a great villain, the perfect femme fatale, an extraordinary visual style, a memorable soundtrack etc.
@TheGiantDouch batman returns is better than the darknight. tim burton + danny elfman+batman=massterpiece. which is what batman returns is. the new films are still very good though, better than Bman forever and Bman and Rbin. and ps jack nicholson's joker was better than heath ledgers though heath ledger took the joker on a completely differnent route than in the comics which was pretty cool
in my opinion i prefer batman the animated series and movies over the live action versions because of the timeless feel to them and that everylive action movie had something just off with the casting, excluding heath leadger's joker, but mark hamill just had that quality to me that made him slightly better. and besides no stupid smoker voice
My ten favorites are: 1.The Dark Knight 2.Batman Begins 3.Batman:Mask of the Phantasm 4.Batman:Under the Red Hood 5.Batman Beyond:Return of the Joker 6.Batman Forever 7.Batman 8.Justice League:Crisis on Two Earths 9.Batman:Gotham Knight 10.Justice League:The New Frontier I added the two animated Justice League films because they are films that feature Batman, and in my mind, they are worthy interpretations of the character.
my list: 1.- Batman The Dark Knight 2.- Batman Begins 3.- Batman Returns 4.- Batman Mask Of The Phantasm 5.- Batman 1989 6.- Batman Beyond Return Of The Joker 7.- Batman Under The Hood 8.- Batman & Mr. Freeze Subzero 9.- Batman Gotham Knight 10.- Batman Forever 11.- Batman Mystery Of Batwoman 12.- Batman & Superman Public Enemies 13.- Batman Beyond The Movie 14.- Batman & Superman The Movie 15.- Batman 1966
1. The Dark Knight (2008) 2. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) 3. Batman Begins (2005) 4. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000) 5. Batman (1989) 6. Batman: Under the Red Hood 7. Batman: Gotham Knight (2008) 8. Batman Returns (1992) 9. Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub Zero (1998) 10. Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003) And Yes I saw Under the Red Hood. It was lecked on YouTube.
1.Mask Of the Phantasm. 2.Dark Knight. 3.Batman Begins. 4. Batman: Gotham Knight 5. Return of the Joker. 6.Batman And Superman;Public Enemies. 7.Batman 8. Batman Returns. 9.Batman Forever. 10.Batman and Robin. The reason Dark Knight isn't at the top isn't because it's not good,I just feel it's overhyped, with the thousands of people badly saying the line "why so serious" on halloween,in the way only Heath Ledger could pull off.Mask of the Phantasm was hardcore."Begins" rocks. "B&R" sucks balls
I don't completely agree with the list. But the fact that you have Mask of the Phantasm as second is more than enough for me to say bravo! I still love that movie, it gives me mad nostalgia and The dark knight is of course first because that's also awesome. Great Job!
IMO.... 1. The Dark Knight 2. Batman Begins 3. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 4. Batman: Gotham Knight 5. Batman Returns 6. Batman 7. Batman/Mr. Freeze: Subzero 8. World's Finest: The Batman/Superman Movie 9. Batman Forever 10. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
1. Batman - Still the greatest. I don't care what anyone says.
2. The Dark Knight - It's overly long and bloated. It has its fair share of plot holes. The ending sucked. However, it's still absolutely amazing and a must-watch.
3. Batman - Mask of the Phantasm - Great.
4. Batman Returns - Overrated, but still good. Danny DeVito's performance sucked ass, but Keaton and Pfeiffer make up for it.
5. Batman Forever - Stupid as hell, but the ridiculousness is very entertaining.
@Corneliustheamoeba 6. Batman Begins - God, this thing is overrated. It spends way too long explaining Batman's origins and not enough time showing us Scarecrow or Ra's Al Ghul. It's incredibly pretentious. Christian Bale sucks as Bruce Wayne. There's too much shaking during the fight scenes. The Batmobile looks fucking retarded. It has some awesome parts, but the rest of the movie is so weak it's not even worth it.
Am I really the only one in this world that thinks Batman Returns is the greatest Batman movie? Come on, it's got the hottest femme fatale of all time! Not to mention: Danny DeVito's Penguin!
i would list it like this 1.the dark knight 2.batman beyond return of the joker 3.batman and robin 4.batman 1966 5.batman and mr.freeze subzero 6.batman begins 7.batman forever 8.batman 1989 9.batman mystery of the batwoman 10.batman gotham knight
@MrPspking90 why is batman and robin in the third place instead of batman begins or subzero? batman and robin is bad as hell, and where´s batman returns and batman mask of the phantasm?
@unipal390x Have you seen Batman the Mask of Phantasm. In my opinion that was the greatest batman cartoon. My top 3 batman movies though are Batman begins, Batman(1989), and the Dark Knight.
Yesterday i "re-watched " Dark Knight, and, i thought that it was batter than at the first view. But the Nollan's first one, Begins, is very very very boring and characters are charicaturals (as in Dark Knight, but in Dakr Knight you have Ledger who saves the movie) .
what pissed me off about batman forever is that harvey dent was played by Billy Dee Williams then they got 2 face to be played by Tommy Lee Jones they should have kept Billy Dee Williams to play Two Face because only one side of his face is supposed to change not both
my list: 1. Batman (1989) 2. Batman Begins 3. Batman Returns 4. The Dark Knight 5. Batman Forever 6. Batman-Mask of the Phantasm 7. Batman Beyond-Return of The Joker 8. Batman- Gotham Knight 9. Batman-Sub Zero 10. Batman-The Movie (1966)
That crappy oldie batman movie can kiss my ass you too batman forever

Have you seen "under the red hood"?
Messistale 1 year ago
@Messistale no, I have not.
RManRik 1 year ago
@RManRik
Well, I recommend it!
This animated movie is awesome.
I hated Robin too, but it (he) didn't bother me in that movie.
Maybe because he is dying in pain...?
Messistale 1 year ago
@Messistale It does seem like a good movie but I just can't find it.

You should've say this earlier!
LOL
I will send you a link per PM where you can watch it then.

#1 is Dark Knight and return of the Joker tied
JimTimBro6 1 year ago
those were good choices but i would of put batman begins 2nd and mask of the phantasm 3rd, but thats my opininon
pownz888 1 year ago
in my opinion i prefer batman the animated series and movies over the live action versions because of the timeless feel to them and that everylive action movie had something just off with the casting, excluding heath leadger's joker, but mark hamill just had that quality to me that made him slightly better. and besides no stupid smoker voice

balidoria 1 year ago
I don't completely agree with the list. But the fact that you have Mask of the Phantasm as second is more than enough for me to say bravo! I still love that movie, it gives me mad nostalgia and The dark knight is of course first because that's also awesome. Great Job!

Batman Forever was OK
pigeonhammer 1 year ago
Corneliustheamoeba 1 year ago
@Corneliustheamoeba 6. Batman Begins - God, this thing is overrated. It spends way too long explaining Batman's origins and not enough time showing us Scarecrow or Ra's Al Ghul. It's incredibly pretentious. Christian Bale sucks as Bruce Wayne. There's too much shaking during the fight scenes. The Batmobile looks fucking retarded. It has some awesome parts, but the rest of the movie is so weak it's not even worth it.
7. Batman & Robin - Ew.
Haven't seen any of the others, but I need to...
Corneliustheamoeba 1 year ago
@Corneliustheamoeba gotta disagree with you on that one.
TheDarkKnight67 1 year ago
@Corneliustheamoeba batman begins should be second on the list it great
DARIOSH2010 1 year ago
@DARIOSH2010 I watched it again. I'd put it above Batman Forever and maybe equal to Returns. It's still way too convoluted, though.
Corneliustheamoeba 1 year ago
Am I really the only one in this world that thinks Batman Returns is the greatest Batman movie? Come on, it's got the hottest femme fatale of all time! Not to mention: Danny DeVito's Penguin!

@unipal390x Have you seen Batman the Mask of Phantasm. In my opinion that was the greatest batman cartoon. My top 3 batman movies though are Batman begins, Batman(1989), and the Dark Knight.

@09tranm hmmm maybe i should watch it :P

@unipal390x
"1) Batman Begins/The Dark Knight
2) ^^^ I couldnt decide :P"
strange
The firsts are obviously Batman (1989) and Batman Returns. Thank you Mr. Burton.
Batman Begins is a big joke, and Btman The Dakr Knight is ok but not more.
samcarredas 2 years ago 2
I love both burtons and nolans movies :D
tbh i take back putting batman at number 3 though, i cant decide which is best out of the top 3
unipal390x 2 years ago
Yesterday i "re-watched " Dark Knight, and, i thought that it was batter than at the first view. But the Nollan's first one, Begins, is very very very boring and characters are charicaturals (as in Dark Knight, but in Dakr Knight you have Ledger who saves the movie) .
samcarredas 2 years ago
@samcarredas What makes Batman Begins a joke in your opinion? I thought it was an excellent movie.

what pissed me off about batman forever is that harvey dent was played by Billy Dee Williams then they got 2 face to be played by Tommy Lee Jones they should have kept Billy Dee Williams to play Two Face because only one side of his face is supposed to change not both
Moosejaw07 2 years ago
I agree. Billy Dee Williams would have been MUCH better.
TheDarkKnight67 2 years ago
Exactly what i think to billy dee deserved that part but it was stolen from him

the dark knight is the best.
