  • I drink beer, good for the employment.

  • whaddaya know.....altruistic meme strikes again

  • You're doing all these things to make YOU feel better. You wrap it up in a cloak of good deedery, but it's all a selfish motivation. Catholic guilt babe. Sticks with ya yer whole life.

  • aww I thought there'd be a cornvlog.

  • hahaha that made me laugh so hard even though it is so retarded :P

  • ohhhhh her voice drives me insane.

  • that why im voting for hillary clinton

  • hehehe well said Miss Lori Harfenist. I don't think I have anymore comments to post regarding your philosophy. It's 100% true. Great Vlog

  • It's true

  • I am going to negative for the hell of it. Lets say that on a scale of good deeds you small good deed was .00000000000000000000000001

no multipy that by 1,000,000 and what do you get in your deeds scale? the net good deed value is .00000000000000000001. That is how much your small good deeds did for the world.

  • well... actually with only 11,718 views so far, lets take that 1 x 10^-27 and multiply it by the 11,718 views which set the net deed value at .000000000000000000011718...

  • fuck that you don't control me!!

I WANT MY LIFE TO BE HAPPY,NOT SOME EMO MOTHERFUCKER!!

  • Today I helped my tenant with his car and approved an elderly lady to cut a bunch of lilac branches to brighten up her day!

  • we could help each other out, skip the clothing

  • if there were more people like the resident in the world, the world wouldn't suck so bad, but there's not. also, people would be much smarter (and hotter)

  • I work 12 hours a day + 1 hour for driving, even at a very young age, no future at all. Seeing your smile face make my life a little bit better. uh how old is this video clip? your boobs seem smaller than the recent vid. only 1 year, and your boob already have grown that much. WILL you PLEASE MAKE a/n VIDEO clip about HIGH CLASS prostitute.

  • I agree. In fact, it is written that in the near future, many many positive acts happening at the SAME TIME all around the world will be a true miraclel and BOOM! we're in Love for ever and ever and ever... a MUCH better way to all live together than the current model of darkness, pain, loneliness, fear and war. And so, each and every one of us brave enough to hold the light each and every day are the pioneers and the true believers, opening the way for a new world of real and lasting peace.

  • u suck

  • yeah, right..

translation: "what i do is so good. i set an example of positive everyday behaviour. This makes me an awsome person, which i try to convince everybody that i am with every possible way."

god i hate people like that! that's NOT positive! if she where to meet anyone, she'd first give them advice on how to live, instead of introducing herself. Positive people just look at the bright side of life, THEY DON'T FIND THE WHOLE WORLD SO SHITTY that they need to make a bunch of advice-vids

  • recognising that there is something wrong doesn't mean you cant be a positive person and try to change it.

she said its something small like leaving what she wants to do to help a friend.

you cant deny that if everyone had a positive attitude, which your response didn't show much of, the world would be a much better place.

people are so negative and selfish these days.

  • Its because of videos like this that I subscribe to you Res. We need more people making an effort to be positive.

I don't necessarily try to do 1 positive thing a day, but I think because of my personality I do it anyways without trying. Case in point, today I held the elevator open for someone rushing to get on. Really a small thing, but I could have just as well hit that close button and laughed on my ride up. Now add my little thing to your little thing and positivity just got bigger.

  • You are such a hippie, Resident. What sort of sandwich do you get at the sandwich shop? I only ask since you're pretty thin. So I'm wondering what you munch on come lunch time. I'm a Quizno's turkey sandwich person myself.

Anyways, keep up the interesting videos. This video isn't corny at all by the way...

  • It is good to go and just listen to someone that is down and hurting. This culture is too much into "what is good for me." It would be awesome if we all for one day (to try it, and not for selfish motives) lay down the things we are doing for ourselves and go help someone truly in need.

Great vlog post, Lori! Have a great day!

  • release gases in the atmosphere, decompose the food in the stomach....... a little bit better huh?

  • great, idealistic (why are people always treating this as some sort of swearword?!) vlog.

  • oh i know a big diffrence we all can do, just go and die, now imagine the planet with 6.5billions or so the stats says, if each of us will die then there's 1 less problem for the planet.

think about it.. we will all head there someday, why not sooner.

  • Oh Boy, we're in trouble now.

Not a good video this time around.

  • Weren't you in a Revlon commercial?

  • haha, hardly. :)

  • omg, I LOVE your hair!!!

And the way it's layered at that length, I don't think many people could pull that off :)

  • You know it all depends on where you're from. In a lot of places people only do things if they have something to gain from it, which makes them incredibly suspicious if someone comes along and does something nice for no reason. I try to do nice things when I have absolutely nothing to gain, but when they come back at me thinking I've got some scam going... I try to think of my happy place.

  • Nice is a relative term.

It would have been nice if Jeffrey Dhamer wasn't a serial killer/cannibal. But then if he wasn't that, you might have bumped into him on the subway or the trolly or the bus and he might have been in a bad mood. So you would have said, "that chap was rude to me, that's not nice."

Then I would have said, "Well at least he was nice enough not to be a cannibalistic murder."

  • The only fans the resident has are sexually repressed fugly bastards. That is why 99% of all video responses are from these types of people. They'll pretend to have something to say, because they think they can wedge their fat asses in the door a little more than before. Face the facts resident, if the world was not full of horny fat guys, you would have no fan base!

  • If it weren't for horny fat chicks, you would've never been born... son.

  • The only fans the resident has are sexually repressed fugly bastards. That is why 9% of all video responses are from these types of people. • 7777 views!!! You know what that means? eff all.

  • I made a diffrence today Res.

  • whoa 7,777 views..weird!

  • oddly enough, an hour later I still see 7777 views..

  • It means 911 was an inside job.

I cant believe this chick is proud of herself for tipping a food service worker, or supporting a friend in need.

For most people, thats called "normal"

  • 1. 911 IS an inside job, because those people answering the phones a 911 couldn't concentrate on their jobs very well if they were outside in the pissing wind and cold and snow, doncha think? 911 operators should be inside at their jobs, where air conditioning and protection from the elements keeps them comfortable and safe so they can concentrate, facilitate and expediate emergency government where needed.

As far the res being proud of helping, giving a sandwhich artist an "extra" tip? wah!

  • Right on!

  • Great idea! I've even stopped strangers (older ladies) on the street to tell them how pretty their blouse is or ask what that nice perfume is they are wearing. Seniors rarely get a compliment, so this is my way of taking care to show them sincere appreciation.

  • Pay it forward huh? Nice selfish reason for being good others.

  • hi i love you whats your friendster plss?

  • I'm in love every time I watch her on video.

  • Would you drop everything to help a homesick alien feel better, or only a personal friend?

  • I attempt doing good acts whenever i can, not just once a day

  • Yeah, you're right.. it is kind of corny!

  • You're very sweet. Keep on being as you are and doing what you do.

  • Just do this one good thing.. SHUT UP!!!!!

  • it's an everyday life.

  • double threat beautiful and intelligent :)

I hope as I get older I will have the moral compass that you have, your really encouraging me in fact you made me go out and get myself some Kurt Vonnegut, Loved it!

  • But remember there's a difference between being nice and being helpful, and people need adversity to grow stronger and make changes to their life.

For example, if everyone tipped the girl an extra $1 it might weaken her motivation to learn a new skill or find a better job.

Things aren't always what they seem.

  • she's so gorgeous i actually want to do what she says

  • you're right...compassion is a great quality to have and it doesn't take a lot of time or money.

  • And it ties in so well with your Buddhist beliefs.

  • wow I think I should do this too...I love you Lori!!!

  • Thanks for saying that, Lori. I think I've only been doing this unconsciously, maybe every third day or something. I'll try to do better.

  • Maybe do the same? Don't be so non-committal. Say your point in a quick and straightforward way, don't pat yourself on the back, and don't try to be so Deepak Chopra about it. Your point is fine, although cliche, just be more creative and act like you really believe it.

  • That was.... embarrasing for you?

    - trevor.

  • Exactly. Everybody knows it but few actually do it. Let's make a difference from now on.

  • This bitch is deleting my comments!

  • try not calling her a bitch, duh.

  • Wise and beautiful... 5*****

  • i wana corn you in the e

  • right on! quiet acts of grandness.

  • The biggest favour we can do other people is to mind our own business as well as possible.

  • Yep ... I hear you ... nice video

  • Oh and furthermore, your math can be fine tuned. You see if everyone in this country makes a little difference per day that would be 300 million little differences. I think a years worth of little differences can amount to a big difference as most projects including up to construction and or thesis, theory papers can be finished within a year. So thats 300 million little differences divided by 365 days giving 821918 big differences per day!

  • Yeah well... its not hard.. but then again.. its not REALLY helping.. I mean go hang out at a friends house? Even if thier Down? Your a friend.. thats your job..! But like picking up a piece of trash or something is easy to do.. just one right?

  • Naw, lady. The corniest blog ever was Le Vlog. Don't worry you haven't outdone yourself. :P

  • well said, not corny at ALL. it also gets me to thinkin' about it as well

  • I give a buck to the cashier at some store for an adult program. I wish I can give her 5 bucks but no a little goes a long way.

  • This is fair. This is a completely reasonable request. Ok. This might be a foundation upon which further compromise can be built. You have lots of work to do though when you consider that you're so heavily perceived as irrational left winger that I kept reading "Corniest" as "Commiest."

  • ok..will do..thx

  • The one annoying thing about not being rich is you can't spend the day giving all the money away like feeding the ducks to generate as many smiles as possible.

People who beg outside banks and supermarkets make me mad, especially when I see them blow all the money on alcohol. Boxes full of. If someone outside a supermarket begs me for money, I buy them a sandwich. One good deed is at closing time sandwiches are reduced - so go buy and distribute. One of those ducks is going to be the real deal.

  • you'll never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator

  • that's some tasty corn

  • Mmmmm...."do good deeds and talk about them"...you are such a boy scout...

without even being a boy...that is so corny

actually though i think tippin an extra buck to a (maybe even undeserving) stranger is the grander deed than goin over to provide aid and comfort to my close friend. THAT is ordinary.

as cult leader jesus, prophet of the flying spaghetti moster said..."love your enemy..for if you love your friend..what different are you...for even EVIL people love their friends" .dig that!!!

  • Obviously it's not meant to be ostentatiously. Talk about good deeds--can be done with modesty and the intend is to get them to be contagious. As the Resident alludes, we need a zillion good deeds. Not a bumper sticker about random acts of kindness. Do them and let people know so they can be motivated and inspired to follow suit.

  • You aren't working *just* to stay alive. You're spending all of your time so you can stay alive in New York City. There's a big difference.

  • There's more you can add to that sentence, like, alive in New York City while owning a dog and having sushi once a month, too. haha. I was generalizing. I admit it. :)

  • Well put. Just about everyone talks about how the world should be better, and what YOU(not them) should do, and what should be done, and that's all it is, TALK. Who cares what it is, as long as it's positive, and it's SOMETHING.

  • it's good to see a beautiful woman not be completely superficial.

  • Aw thanks man!

  • one person cant do everything but everyone can do something.. plane and simple! the problem is always choice along with timing.

  • Haj Flaps. You are real real real good.

I hope you feel real good about yourself.

You are so good you need a camera to show the world how real good you are.

I dont like those pol.correct people who tell in front of the camera how good they are. Its so arrogant, Flaps

  • Charity is good for the giver because it makes us feel like we are doing something good but it is rarely ever good for the recipient. Homeless people are a good example of that. We like to help because it makes us feel good but did the dollar we give to them really help them get off the streets? What if we gave them a home. That would have only helped for a few months and he is back on the streets.

  • I wont completely disagree with you on that, but if you give to the right charities, the money given will indeed help people less fortunate than you.

Also, you don't have to give money. Giving items that you can spare like clothing or canned goods will almost definitely help.

I'm sure you don't give a rats ass about any of this though, so whatever.

  • I got a problem with tipping in those jars and that is; why should you tip someone for doing their job that they are already getting paid for? Its not like they are a waitress or pizza delivery guy but they are already getting paid and now they want more money.

I've also noticed that you have been losing weight since you last few videos from a few months ago. You should eat more. Anorexia is not good for anyone. Please get some help.

pay $50000 and forward it to me.

    Thanks.

  • MANY people go to work because of the tips. If it wasn't for tipping, they would still be pretty much broke. Plus if someone is working harder than another person but still getting paid the same, dont you think they deserve a little extra?

  • tipping is a scam! The owner of a bar escapes paying wages by saying that someone only works for tips. That means he doesn't have to pay the cook, waitress, or anyone else. On top of that they charge you a lot for the meal.

  • He would have to pay the cook. On top of that, if you don't tip then the person who served you has to take money out of their own pockets to tip out.

  • whos fault is that? Not mine! Thats there fault for taking such a crappy job in the first place.

  • It's 'their'. And if someone does their job well they should be compensated. It's the nature of the job. If you like eating out then be willing to pay for it. We remember your face, and treat you and your food depending.

  • Good. Start sending in money to walmart, target, ford, and every other company because those people work hard too but the difference is is that their bosses actually pay them.

  • *sigh*

This is a guest based wage, not a consumer base. Understand? Servers work for commission, because if restaurants had to pay servers then your food would be extremely expensive. It is cheaper for you to pay 15% more directly to the server rather than pay nearly 80% more to the restaurant.

  • Do you understand your boss is getting free labor?

  • It's a piece of contract work.

They pay me minimally to sell their food and take care of their guests. In return I get an opportunity to make money.

It's chance work, sometimes I make up $200 in a night, sometimes I make only $30. You can't work many hours, but you have the opportunity to make at least a living wage(kind of) while having enough time to go to school and volunteer at the shelter.

  • Tengo ganas de llorar.

  • cliche

  • You just want the girl with the big tits to like you. Disingenuous fuck.

  • Since 99% of the people who are drawn to the residents videos are sexually repressed males (which is obvious from the sex-centric comments made), I would have to suggest doing something about that prior to doing something for someone else. How can miserable bastards who are unhappy with themselves both mentally and physically do a god damn thing for anyone else? If you're fat, lose some weight, if you're ugly, get plastic surgery! Do something for yourself first!

  • i'm inspired. i try to do this all the time, but maybe i'll try a little harder from now on.

  • You just want the girl with the big tits to like you. Disingenuous fuck.

  • Reminds me of what Mother Teresa said, "I can do no great things, only small things with great love."

  • Nice, Jovan!

  • Budist are conmen just like mother Teresa.

  • You just want the girl with the big tits to like you. Disingenuous fuck.

  • I'm going to chose to not try and make a difference today, because that's my choice, not yours.

  • This is such a positive video my dimples hurt from smiling. Don't hurt me res. haha.

  • hahaha

  • Yea I agree, I went vegetarian 3 yrs ago. An avarage vegetarian "saves" 86 animals each year. So I have saved... hmmm 258 animals!! YEA!!

  • uhh, gag.

  • I love your vlog. Your outward attractiveness and intellectual insight, as well as your amazing skill of articulating your thoughts in a positive, non judgmental and concise manner, makes you absolutely, the sexiest woman on YouTube. Would you consider marrying me?

  • Dufus.

  • You're already living by the sword so your own perfection makes your sword greater.

  • *thumbs up* You go, girl! :D Truer words were never spoken.

  • She is such a hottie!

  • That is great advice! Its so easy to do something small to put a smile on someones face. Say like if TheResident were to feature one of my videos on the front page over there! Things like that! I totally relate to ya sister!

  • I read Iliad, does this make the planet better?

  • Right on sister. On the opposite side of what she is saying: Donctorsesatives post a few down actually makes me want to bitchslap him.

  • Live by the sword die by the sword, asshole.

  • Smash the cunt and do the earth a favour.

  • NO you are wong. You sit in the midst of a loopy president who does nothing but impose hate onto many and doing good deeds is only going to express that hate more.

  • How about you take 5 minutes out of each day to do some research on the alien/ufo phenomenon, thus eventually adding up to the difference of not making ignorant videos that aim to invalidate those who have had the experience of UFO sighting/alien abduction.

  • let's all go hug a tree and sit around the campfire singing "Kumbaya"!

  • She is one of the most beautifull females I have ever seen. : ) Love her videos as well.

  • Yep

cuz she actually gives a ****

    keep it up, sis

  • She obviously gives a shit or she wouldn't waste time making videos that attempt to invalidate UFO sightings and alien abduction.

  • Good advice,I will try :)and advice my friends around me.thanks

  • will you make my day by doing one of these in a string bikini?

    i keed, i keed...(not really).

ok, how about a better backdrop then? that plain brick wall annoys the shit out of me.

  • I like to think that /everything/ I do helps make the world a better place. ;)

But you gotta be careful. Say you bring a reusable bag to the grocery store. You're helping the planet. But then another plastic bag doesn't get used, so maybe a worker in a plastic bag plant loses his job.

Then again, something like a random compliment doesn't appear to have much of a negative impact and can really make someone's day.

  • Thanks...your idea complements the "do a random act of kindness" theme. May I suggest, tell one person each day that they are appreciated...you are!

  • I've been watching you for some time now and I like the things you talk about and what you do. thank you for sharing this video with me and just to give you a little the think about "the day this project becaomes a reality, you being there?', I would like this.

    John

  • I'll try

  • wow i love you,,, haha I alwayse think like this. Today I was pissed because I bought a slice of pizza and the guys at the store gave me 9 napkins,,, like what the heck am i gonna do with that many napkins. I could wiped my ass and wipe my mouth and hands off and still have 6 more napkins left.. and to think they give out that many to every single customer thta commes in there,, its disgracefull,, sometimes this world just pisses me off,, but i guess once were extinct mothrnatur will rejuvint

  • I just wanted 2 apologize 4 all the terrible things I said back when u were asking 4 it (Bad Commenters). I know u said none of the things were gonna bother u but I'm not so sure that was 100% true.

  • haha, it was true tmason. But seeing you here commenting now means even more. :) Some good things lined up so I hope you keep watching.

  • The best small thing you can do is to write to members of Congress and the Bush administration about the problems of global warming and offer an attractive solution. I know a lot of people think our politicians don't care, but some of them do, even in the Bush admin.

  • awesome!! hey name some things you can't live without... just wondering what the resident needs to keep herself so amazing :P

  • haha! I'll go with my dog. I can't live without her right now, she's the best!

  • I think the greatest thing is what MIT does for the world by way of their low technology awards they ask the students to do for third world countries. Like one student invented a washing machine for the women of this village that was hooked up to a bicycle. Or, the one where a student invented a bleach bottle water purification device for this small village in Africa. The village now has pure water to drink. Low tech stuff that most villages can make and parts that are easy to get.

  • Nic, pongman!

  • Cheerleader.........

  • I'm ok with that, hha.

  • No I meant your a CHeerleader! I should have just used more words and a high five! Your "good to go" Lady!

  • haha, thanks exp!

  • Well, I go to Free Rice on the internet and play word games. Every time you get the word correct they donate grains of rice to the poor. Each time you play the grains add up to bowls, etc. A small donation that's free and all you have to do is play. There was another website similar to that, that did the same thing when you clicked it and the drug companies donated food to the poor and hungry.

  • i didnt understand

  • vERY NICE THOUGHT AND A GREAT IDEA!

  • My disability prevents me from getting out by myself, so I use a website called Care2 to help our planet.

  • I usually do try to make even a small difference everyday. It is so easy to be negative. And it's so unhealthy. Everyone should try something small daily... like paying someone a compliment.

  • I actually believed most people do TRY to make a difference when they can and when their not too distracted with pop culture, but looking at some of these comments, I guess some people truly are just selfish pigs. Thanx for TRY-ing to inspire.

  • Worlds hell you cant change that...Good luck tho it will be funny to watch from the sidelines =]

  • God bless you

  • idealist

  • change the world

  • This is such a beautiful message Res! I try to help out in little ways too. If I ever get randomly lucky I often credit some sort of 'good karma' that I've built up. If people thought more like you, this world would be so much lovelier! As technology advances and people get busier, it seems one has "no time" to reach out... (let alone desire)... I hope to meet someone like you one day.

  • Ur so full of shit I can't believe it.

Nobody in real life does good deeds, we leave that to Bono and Oprah or Al Gore. My good deed is to help our economy by buying all the frivilious things I can Afford. Or thats how I justify it

  • Nobody in real life does good deeds? Why do you think we're all still here??? Because of the sacrifices our ancestors made for their descendants.

If we ever stopped that ethic of self-sacrifice, someday the biosphere may reach the point where it no longer supports human life.

    Love your mother.

  • WoW first of all I can't believe U took that comment seriously. Second, WoW thanks ancestors for having children and taking care of them. That's Ur idea of a good deed??? Really set the bar high HuH....

  • I take everything you say seriously.

  • Happy Earth Day, everyone. Love your Mother.

    (i.e. Mother Earth)

  • thats not corny thats good advice.

  • The Resident looking hot as usual. Watch me draw her in the video response above. Great advice !

  • Been keeping lights off when not absolutely necessary for decades now, also changed over to better light bulbs as soon as i could, always drove slowly or what i would call timing driving. ( get to know the red light timing of your most common routes to save gas)

Noble idea but this never works because unless something is forced on people in some form or another, people won't do it.

Why hello there gas prices! forcing anyone to cut back yet?

    ^ that was corny.

  • i've volunteered at a homeless shelter for about 6 years. one thing i learned is never pass out cigarettes. they'll be on you like there's no t'mar...

  • Some may say that it is not effective, but if you touch just one person, and you make a difference in their day, than that person is going to make a difference in some one elces life. All because you took the time to show that you care.

  • "Work it harder, make it better!"

  • sorry. nope. can't do it.

  • Cool!

  • Your burgeoning career as a motivational speaker would be greatly improved if you would SHOW SOME CLEAVAGE.

  • Can you say "male chauvinist pig?" I knew you could. It's a shame this intelligent young woman has to put up with jerks like you. If cleavage is what you want, there are plenty of websites which offer that and more. I suspect they also welcome salivating little boys and their mindless comments. Your channel says you are 29. Your words make you mentally a lot younger!

  • what happened to your nose?

  • Haha, bad lighting. It happens. :)
