Obviously it's not meant to be ostentatiously. Talk about good deeds--can be done with modesty and the intend is to get them to be contagious. As the Resident alludes, we need a zillion good deeds. Charity is good for the giver because it makes us feel like we are doing something good but it is rarely ever good for the recipient. Homeless people are a good example of that. We like to help because it makes us feel good but did the dollar we give to them really help them get off the streets? What if we gave them a home. That would have only helped for a few months and he is back on the streets.
I got a problem with tipping in those jars and that is; why should you tip someone for doing their job that they are already getting paid for? Its not like they are a waitress or pizza delivery guy but they are already getting paid and now they want more money.

The best small thing you can do is to write to members of Congress and the Bush administration about the problems of global warming and offer an attractive solution. I know a lot of people think our politicians don't care, but some of them do, even in the Bush admin.
I think the greatest thing is what MIT does for the world by way of their low technology awards they ask the students to do for third world countries. Like one student invented a washing machine for the women of this village that was hooked up to a bicycle. Or, the one where a student invented a bleach bottle water purification device for this small village in Africa. The village now has pure water to drink. Low tech stuff that most villages can make and parts that are easy to get.
Well, I go to Free Rice on the internet and play word games. Every time you get the word correct they donate grains of rice to the poor. Each time you play the grains add up to bowls, etc. A small donation that's free and all you have to do is play. There was another website similar to that, that did the same thing when you clicked it and the drug companies donated food to the poor and hungry.
I usually do try to make even a small difference everyday. It is so easy to be negative. And it's so unhealthy. Everyone should try something small daily... like paying someone a compliment.

Been keeping lights off when not absolutely necessary for decades now, also changed over to better light bulbs as soon as i could, always drove slowly or what i would call timing driving. ( get to know the red light timing of your most common routes to save gas)

The one annoying thing about not being rich is you can't spend the day giving all the money away like feeding the ducks to generate as many smiles as possible.
People who beg outside banks and supermarkets make me mad, especially when I see them blow all the money on alcohol. Boxes full of. If someone outside a supermarket begs me for money, I buy them a sandwich. One good deed is at closing time sandwiches are reduced - so go buy and distribute. One of those ducks is going to be the real deal.

Obviously it's not meant to be ostentatiously. Talk about good deeds--can be done with modesty and the intend is to get them to be contagious. As the Resident alludes, we need a zillion good deeds. Not a bumper sticker about random acts of kindness. Do them and let people know so they can be motivated and inspired to follow suit.

Charity is good for the giver because it makes us feel like we are doing something good but it is rarely ever good for the recipient. Homeless people are a good example of that. We like to help because it makes us feel good but did the dollar we give to them really help them get off the streets? What if we gave them a home. That would have only helped for a few months and he is back on the streets.

I wont completely disagree with you on that, but if you give to the right charities, the money given will indeed help people less fortunate than you.
Also, you don't have to give money. Giving items that you can spare like clothing or canned goods will almost definitely help.
I'm sure you don't give a rats ass about any of this though, so whatever.

I got a problem with tipping in those jars and that is; why should you tip someone for doing their job that they are already getting paid for? Its not like they are a waitress or pizza delivery guy but they are already getting paid and now they want more money.
I've also noticed that you have been losing weight since you last few videos from a few months ago. You should eat more. Anorexia is not good for anyone. Please get some help.

MANY people go to work because of the tips. If it wasn't for tipping, they would still be pretty much broke. Plus if someone is working harder than another person but still getting paid the same, dont you think they deserve a little extra?

tipping is a scam! The owner of a bar escapes paying wages by saying that someone only works for tips. That means he doesn't have to pay the cook, waitress, or anyone else. On top of that they charge you a lot for the meal.

This is a guest based wage, not a consumer base. Understand? Servers work for commission, because if restaurants had to pay servers then your food would be extremely expensive. It is cheaper for you to pay 15% more directly to the server rather than pay nearly 80% more to the restaurant.

It's a piece of contract work.
They pay me minimally to sell their food and take care of their guests. In return I get an opportunity to make money.
It's chance work, sometimes I make up $200 in a night, sometimes I make only $30. You can't work many hours, but you have the opportunity to make at least a living wage(kind of) while having enough time to go to school and volunteer at the shelter.

I like to think that /everything/ I do helps make the world a better place. ;)
But you gotta be careful. Say you bring a reusable bag to the grocery store. You're helping the planet. But then another plastic bag doesn't get used, so maybe a worker in a plastic bag plant loses his job.
Then again, something like a random compliment doesn't appear to have much of a negative impact and can really make someone's day.

I think the greatest thing is what MIT does for the world by way of their low technology awards they ask the students to do for third world countries. Like one student invented a washing machine for the women of this village that was hooked up to a bicycle. Or, the one where a student invented a bleach bottle water purification device for this small village in Africa. The village now has pure water to drink. Low tech stuff that most villages can make and parts that are easy to get.

Well, I go to Free Rice on the internet and play word games. Every time you get the word correct they donate grains of rice to the poor. Each time you play the grains add up to bowls, etc. A small donation that's free and all you have to do is play. There was another website similar to that, that did the same thing when you clicked it and the drug companies donated food to the poor and hungry.

Been keeping lights off when not absolutely necessary for decades now, also changed over to better light bulbs as soon as i could, always drove slowly or what i would call timing driving. ( get to know the red light timing of your most common routes to save gas)
Noble idea but this never works because unless something is forced on people in some form or another, people won't do it.
