  • thanks for the info i have been doing tons of research on this breed not to mention i had a friend from school whom had a big rott and i tell ya this dog was a great family pet not to mention once she had her baby u know that dog was very alert as to who was holding him i wouldn't have called him very protective but just on top of things i never heard him growl or be intimidating in anyway a very good companion plus i always loved this breed thanks again

  • with work is this possible to train ur dog without paying a high price company besides i would rather work with my own dog so the dog gets used to me and how i do things. i will be getting a rott puppy in a couple of months from a rottweiler breeder but i also want my kids to be hands on so they can be with the dog when i am at work

  • @tdubb505 yes you can train your own dog with some education. Just do some research on dog training techniques. My favorite trainer that you can watch here on Youtube is Michael Ellis, and there is countless other people you can watch to decide whats best for you and your dog. The most important thing is to choose the right energy level for your family. Low- medium energy is best for family setting, they dont need constant fast exercise... I use Cesar Millans techniques too, he is really good.

  • She is just beautiful! Great training! I'm thinking about getting one, I have experience with dog training from when I was about 16 I did it with my family dog (german shepherd) but I know have 2 kids of my own and am very devoted to training a male rotty, this was a great video and gave me some tips thank you :)

  • Great job on training her, Mine is so stubborn I just don't have enough time to get her like that, Was yours that stubborn ?

  • @philthy6979 Thanks! she was not stubborn at all, I started training her the day after I brought her home, so training is all she knows... and she has been entirely devoted to me. she tries so hard that I never worry about her disobeying. I take her on off-leash walks and she never leaves my side, even with other dogs or kids running around.

  • also i have women in my house were i am a little nervous about the dog alone witht them, and i have an italian greyhound (very small) thanks.

    frank

  • @fmarciante1 if you nervous at all it is a bad idea to even think about getting a powerful breed because all dogs can sense that and you wont be able to provide the right energy to make the dog trust and respect you as a family member.

  • how did you train her to bark? and also im getting either german or rotty but are the rotty's very smart and loyal, i have seen videos on here were owners try to pat them and they growl and are ready to kill them it seems like, very good looking dog. thanks

    -frank

  • @fmarciante1 Hi Frank,

she is a good dog, but Rotts are alot of work to raise properly. They r very powerful dogs. I trained her to bark when she started whining excitedly when I would run along the fence with her ball. When she whined, I would throw the ball, so eventually I waited until she got more frustrated and barked, then thre, and went from there. they will tell you how to teach them, but it takes alot of time. She now barks on a hand signal only. check out my recent videos of her!

  • I can't wait to teach my puppy how to do this! He's about 2-3 months old, my dad was thinking of giving him away because he was always biting and not listening. I told my dad that he's probably just teething and doesn't know better and that I would take him instead of giving him away to a shelter. Your Sophia is one beautiful dog. Way to go on the wonderful training!

  • @hudson2012 What kind of treats did u use?

  • @nehalpatel123987 If I was using treats, I used liver treats, really small morsels with a strong yummy smell. Big treats are no good, neither are crunchy ones because they take too long to chew. You want to use something they can swallow whole, that is soft and moist. With Sophia I usually used the ball for to train with because she likes that most, but if I was training something for the first time or training something like heel that requires the dog to be in a certain position, I used treats.

  • @013Luigi at 7 weeks old she is teething and should be biting all the time, but you just have to discourage it. She doesnt know anything, so you have to teach in SMALL baby steps. This type of training cannot be taught over the internet, or in a message. It is hundreds of hours of work all put together from the time the pup came to me. You start out just teaching sit. If you can teach a 7 week old puppy to sit positively then that is doing good. There are lots of videos on how to teach this.

  • @Hudson2012 use lots of treats and positive encouragement. If the pup doesnt have fun doing it then she will never like to work and will never be like my dog. A 5 minute session a day is enough, unless she is having fun and can do more. Also make your puppy sit before you give her her food. This is a good exercise and will eliminate food aggression. After you teach this, start putting the dish down, making the pup sit 5 feet away, and look at you, then tell her to eat. This teaches control.

  • oh wait i watched this video!!

the day it came out wonderfull rottie u got there u should make a video on how u lead her to do this :)
