He almost certainly did come from a captive family. But the fact that monkeys have been raised in captivity for the pet market for 40 or so years in the US does not make them domestic animals. Dogs and cats became domesticated over thousands of years. All the videos on YouTube are of baby monkeys for a reason. As adults, they become aggressive, attack people, and destroy things. They're wild animals, not pets. Polar bears and tiger cubs are also cute, but you shouldn't adopt them as pets.
