I believe I got it at cost at the computer store I worked at for about 80-90$ or so. They retailed for 110$ I think, but that was in December 2006. Still works, so does the G9 mouse. Typing on it now.
i have a compaq presario with an amd athlon 64 3500+ 2.19 ghz 960 mb of ram windows xp 2002 media center edition 2005 200gb hardrive and integrated ati express 200 with a pci express slot? is this ok for playing just one fps game
it depends of it's system requirement. my mother has the same videocard and she can play games like "far Cry", "splinter cell 1", and Half-life 2, Portal, etc. It's fair for playing games made in '04 and older.
I just got myself a playstation 3. You might want to consider one if you really want to do gaming! It's about 400$ and the graphics are amazing.
Socket AM2's screws for the retention bracket can't be moved the way I needed them to. Plus the mounting clip on the Freezer 64 only faced a certain way. my Freezer64 Pro was an older version (got it mid-2006, pre-AM2) so they may have changed that since. My new Zalman 9500 doesn't have that problem. I don't have that motherboard anymore either.
It was an odd motherboard and Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro could only mount 2 ways, up or down. Theres a sequel video to this that has it facing down. I've long since moved to a Zalman CNPS9500AM2, check out the video response with the 3D Blade Fanguard pic, thats a more up to date video.
upgrade? if u buy the 2900 ur actually downgrading, the 2900 r one of those older cards, if u wanna upgrade go for an 8800gtx or 8800 ultra. or if you'r switching to ATI, 4870.
There's little to no performance improvement on buying a 2900GT to replace an 8600GT. If cost is an issue, I'd try to track down an HD3850, which are getting really cheap now.
I didn't have my 2900GT for long, I had it for about a month (during which this video was made) before I got an HD 3870 Crossfire setup. 2900GT wasn't a bad card but only about as good as the X1900XT I had before. Now I'm running a pair of HD4850's.
I am getting some new parts to my comp concluding first of all: AMD athlon64 X2 5200+ 2,7ghz 2x1 mb cache , Chieftec CFT 560w PSU , OCZ ATi Crossfire XTC PC2-6400 DDR2 2gb.
Now here´s the question : should i get your motherboard the 580X full crossfire speed X16 or the new 790X (not FX) with support for 1066mhz memory and new Phenom processor, but this motherboard has Crossfire X16/X8 meaning one in full 16X mode and one in 8X .. what would you choose?
If you have the money, I'd get a 790FX board for Crossfire. I think both MSI and Gigabyte have one that's not much more expensive than the 790X and 580X boards. Asus's 790FX boards still a bit pricey.
Still, 790X might have a 16x/8x setup but they support PCIe 2.0, which doubles the connection bandwidth if used with a Video card supporting PCIe 2.0, which HD3850/HD3870/HD3870X2 do.
Yes the Asus M3A32-MVP is pricey, but you can overclock just about everything on it even the north and southbridges. I have the 6400+ Black CPU because I read reviews about how the Phenoms aren't that overclockable. I haven't read anything on the Phenom Black edition CPUs, but I hope they are considerably more overclockable that 200MHz.
Oh i see thanks.. XD, Just curious thats all i was going to purchase one today off ebuyer but i could only find it in orange.. But i wasen't sure to wether you could get it in blue. =O [thanks for replying]
That's true. Both of the Light kits have PCI slot brackets (hidden between cards) that allow be to toggle between On-Off-Beat mode.
Check out the Video response I posted on this Video (the one with the Fan Grill). I have a new Case now, and I'm now running a Phenom 9600 with Dual 3870's.
hmm, i thought that the arctic cooling freezer pro 64, was mounted so the fan blows air from one side to the other side, not from up to down :S well, im gonn a buy one anyway ;) hehe
Yeah, it does, but my motherboard (Asus M2R32-MVP) has the socket mounted at a 90 degree angle from standard, so the fan points up and down. It was actually overheating because the fan was too close to the rear fans and blowing in the wrong direction. It pained me to get rid of it, but I just got a Zalman CNPS9500 that can mount in any direction. The AC Freezer 64 Pro works awesome in normal situations though, I highly recommend them!
I gladly got rid of my MX1000 once I got the G9. I like it better than the G5 and I don't miss it being cordless at all. I got a good price on it too, so for me it was well worth it.
I want this video on my U9 unit.

seems like an ok setup for fps games. only i would recommend to at least complete the 1 gb ram or go higher. Plus the videocard is important
chrt222 2 years ago
get 2 more gb ram and a new GPU, i reccomend the Radeon HD 4770, just came out, and its the best card out for $100, beats 9800 GT

i didnt have money for 8800GTX/U.
the 2900GT is old but fast, it faster than the 8600GTS, i hear that the 8.7 CATALYST make all ATI cards more FASTER than card with a 8.6 CATALYST.
somone have a link for a review of this card?
**sorry for my bad english**

You say your keyboard is the G15 but it looks more like the G11, you sure your correct? -_-"
[Can only find the G15 in orange] xD
vikingndesert 4 years ago
They've come out with a second revision of the G15, which is orange backlit and has an Orange LED screen.
Mine's the older one, which is larger and is Blue Backlit with a Blueish LCD screen. The G11 looks almost the same except it doesn't have the screen.
