I see it like this: when consumerism and "material things" break down and decay, we are left with raw humanity that must continue to procreate. Or it could simply be a surrealistic take on digestion. Other than that, it is a very well done film.

The mechanical, the literary, and the natural facets of man consuming each other to form a human figure? I often wonder if Svankmajer studied anthropology or concepts related to those studies of human element in his spare time or otherwise. Anyways... his work is such a nice example of what surreal art can be a power narrative on the more concrete/less fictitious.
