So this is what Satan sounds like, God provided enough evidence but he knew at the beginning most would reject it. Everyone .has a choice. Let;s pray that everyone make the right choice. I don't want you to die and find out that hell is real. 100% of born again Christians became save through Christ and no one else. I can't dislike you because you don't understand. It's just eerie how you sound like the devil. Stupid is how he would describe us. FUNNY.
@newbirth17 Stupid is how I would describe you! 'God provided enough evidence but he knew at the beginning most would reject it' --how could you possibly know this is true? You are just talking out your arse, show us the evidence if it is there then. Also, when exactly have you heard the devil? if you are just going to call things that you disagree with 'the devil' you are as retarded as the mother out of The Waterboy.
@newbirth17 What evidence? I'm sure the entire world would be interested to hear about it.
Oh, but its probably something like "only true believers have the truth revealed to them through Jesus!" That would be real convenient, people having to believe in something for no reason in order to be given a reason to believe it. What a great fucking religion, at least you don't have to pay money. Unless I'm wrong and you have some real evidence, in which case please provide it and excuse my language.
Jesus loves you Cult of Dusty! Rejoice that you can have everlasting life if you can just believe! It cannot be explained but at the same time cannot be questioned....I'm telling you brother, rescind what you say.
@71wakawaka ''it cannot be explained but at the same time cannot be questioned''
i REALLY hope that was sarcasm. if not, seek professional help. i mean, listen to yourself ffs, your basically saying ''i cannot prove god exists, but that doesnt matter! just dont use your head and blindly follow bullshit!''
where is your proof of god? until you show me (which will never happen) your arguement is invalid. peace
Let me tell you something a wise man once said: a little knowledge of science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a believer in God. Scientists today are eliminating models of
God, but they are not eliminating God.
Your assumption is based on poor observations the truth is Jesus is God and he exists, you can choose to not believe it but it does not make the truth into lie.
@motorstorm78 If you were so wise you would know that was Francis Bacon and if your knew anything about him you wouldn't be quoting the father of empiricism as a Christian. Once again its the truth because you say so no evidence or proof? How about you say something smart instead of just parroting what someone else said to you that didn't know shit either.
@motorstorm78 And yet you would be unable to offer up one shred of evidence (outside of biblical mythology) that Jesus even existed, let alone had divine power. For all his alleged power and awesomeness, he managed to leave not a trace of his physical existence upon the world. If he existed at all, he was at best a good man but a false prophet. "Truth" to you is whatever the little voice conjured up by your psyche tells you. And it's reinforced by others who are similarly deluded.
@88rat88 Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven my friend, you actually think what you are saying is smart but..its not I'm not here to force you have faith in him just to let you know and testify to the truth if Jesus was a false prophet he would not have the fame he has today and who are you to tell me I'm delusional if when you are condemning what you simply dare not to understand? I've seem the worst people being tamed by God and now worship him because they now know him.
@motorstorm78 And I've encountered plenty of devout Christians who woke up and renounced their faith. Maybe you don't realize this, but most atheists in this country were born and raised Christian. Been there, done that. They became atheists when they learned to think for themselves, and they understand their former faith way better than the flock they left. Enjoy your delusion, and your life of subservience to your non-existent god. And cling to that support group; you need it :)
@88rat88 Psalm 14:1-3 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good. The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God. They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one.
If you must know I was an atheist at one point so please don't bother trying being arrogant and sarcastic with me.
@motorstorm78 Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic. I was being completely serious. The fact that you took it as sarcasm is telling. And your reply is as predictable as the sun. Every Christian does this: whenever you can't come up with anything substantive to say, you start spouting scripture like a parrot. The irony of your Psalm 14 is that it's nothing more than a feeble attempt to immunize scripture to critique by labeling thinkers as fools. Better to be a drone or a sheep, huh?
@88rat88 But you want to know why? because it is the foundation of our faith just like a scientist gets their information from their foundation of their faith* which is a textbook of course but no one says anything and because that's exactly what it is and they do don't know many things for sure. The fact that I decided to ignore your rude blind thoughts shows how of a different person you may think I am I don't condemn you for not believing in God but you condemn me,
@motorstorm78 But you DIDN'T ignore it, did you? You responded. Let me explain something to you: If you think the foundation of a scientist's work is "faith", you truly haven't a clue what science is or how the scientific method works. This is just you projecting your own ignorance onto the rest of humanity because you don't know how to do any differently. Science is the antithesis of faith. Polar opposites laddie. Oh, and textbooks are written BECAUSE of the work scientists do.
@88rat88 Just today I read the new york times a small section about *two new earths discovered* it turns out that in that small section alone it is stated that "scientists are *hoping* to find life in those planets* what do you call that? and tell me what sounds more delusional scientists believing in aliens from outer space who can travel by the speed of life which possibly are the cause of all life or me believing in the almighty God?
@motorstorm78 Do you understand that there is a huge difference between hope and faith? Even atheists have hope. I hope next week will be warm and sunny. But I don't have FAITH that next week will be warm and sunny because I prayed to an invisible god to change the weather for me. Hope is optimism. Faith is believing in something for which there is no observable evidence, and you have nothing more than a "gut feeling" to go on. Scientists are human too so yes, they have hope.
@motorstorm78 (Part 2) Hope motivates people to better their world. But a scientist's work does NOT rely on hope or faith. It's controlled by a rigid process called the scientific method. And their findings are peer reviewed. This means that scientists are even more brutal and critical of their fellow scientists than a creationist could ever be. Compared to a scientific peer review, creationist dogma is child's play to deal with. Science works. Science gets results. Faith does not.
@motorstorm78 (Part 3) If you still don't understand this, you owe it to yourself to learn what the scientific method is and how it works. Because right now, you're revealing your ignorance to the world. Now, regarding your question as to which is more delusional, that's a no-brainer. Your belief in the almighty invisible sky god is WAY more delusional than the very real possibility that there could be life on other planets. I didn't even have to think for 3 seconds on that one.
@motorstorm78 (Part 4) The universe is immensely huge with literally trillions of star systems and yet we don't even have to look farther than our own back yard to see that life on other planets is at least POSSIBLE. Nevertheless, scientists won't BELIEVE there is life on other planets until they actually find evidence of it. Same with god. Unless or until compelling evidence is presented for the existence of a god, atheism is the only sane and intellectually honest way to go.
@motorstorm78 (Part 5) Statements like "I know god is real because the holy spirit opened my eyes" do not cut it. That may satisfy you. But until you can prove it, keep it to yourself. In closing, let's revisit the topic of arrogance. Christians believe this incredibly vast universe was created exclusively for a bunch of insignificant humans on a little blue planet whose star is only one of 200 billion in a single unremarkable galaxy. Who's the arrogant one now?
@88rat88 I never said the holy spirit opened my eyes and worst of all that would not cut it for me, I'm not here to prove God just to defend his existence. I know he is real because he has proven it to me and millions of others out there with solid clear evidence, and asides of our testimonies there are facts that you cannot ignore in history about the Bible and the most outstanding fact that the Bible does not ever contradict itself but of course you think the opposite of this.
@motorstorm78 Sorry for being unclear, I wasn't directing that statement at you personally but at Christians in general. Let's ignore the volatile topic of "proof" and talk about contradictions. There are in fact hundreds in the bible. Critical thinkers see them plain as day. Even when I was still a Christian, they were glaringly obvious to me when I undertook my own bible study. In my experience, there are two kinds of Christians who claim there are no contradictions in the bible:
@motorstorm78 (Pt 2) those that haven't actually read it (but say they have), and the apologists: Christians that are capable of extraordinary mental contortions to explain away the contradictions, even though it usually requires speculation that is simply not substantiated by the text of the bible. And they always think THEY ALONE are capable of knowing the correct context and interpretation of a passage, even though they can't even agree amongst themselves what it is.
@motorstorm78 (Pt 3) There are literally thousands of Christian sects, all stemming from different interpretations of scripture. Even within the SAME sect, Christian scholars don't always agree. Christians can't even agree on what the conditions are for salvation. Violence has flared between sects over interpretation of god's "perfect word". Now, you and I may never see eye to eye regarding the contradictions. But this much is abundantly clear: the bible is extremely ambiguous.
@motorstorm78 (Pt 4) It's pointless to deny it, the proof is in our own actions. Incalculable time and effort has been spent and countless books have been written to try to make sense of a book that is supposed to be perfect. And the question I would pose to you is simply, Why? We're told god wants people to know his will, as well as his expectations of us. You're seriously telling me this is the best he could do? If a god really did inspire the bible it would indeed be PERFECT.
@motorstorm78 (Pt 5) There would be no ambiguity whatsoever and not even a HINT of contradiction. A Frenchman and a Chinaman should be able to read the book, have an epiphany, and walk away with the exact same interpretation and understanding. The mere act of reading the book would fill us with indescribable awe. Instead what we find is a clusterfuck that was compiled under serious allegations of forgery and deceit, containing stories of extreme barbarism that
@motorstorm78 (Pt 6) positively smack of human invention. Stories that were very obviously conceived and written by the primitive, violent, ignorant, misogynistic, slave-owning barbarians of the time. Christians believe god created the entire cosmos in 6 days. But then he seems utterly impotent and incapable of writing a book without ambiguity. Doesn't that seem a little strange to you?
Fuck I dont know who Cameron(I just randomly cam across this vid, you know) is but he looks like the guy who said that Noah had dinosaurs on his ark and that there is not a single tiniest bit of evidence supportin evolution, and that people lived for 600 years and that kind ofshit. Is that him?
"Faith is something to be mocked and ridiculed at every chance."
I disagree. Faith is a huge concept, encompassing a lot. If you are only talking about religious faith, then you need to specify that you are not referring to other types of faith. And even then this is a big leap to say that it has to be ridiculed. Some people might believe in something that is scientifically impossible, but others might believe in something that makes sense, just doesn't have proof behind it yet.
I would rather be with people who believe the Easter Bunny is real, who are humble, kind, loving and compassionate, than with people who don't, who are arrogant and insult people who think differently than they do. Science can't prove, nor disprove, the existence of a spiritual realm. Science is limited to the study of the natural world. "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
My parents, mostly my aunts think they saw my grandfather "walk into the light" all this other shit. They use it as proof and just repeat themselves and say that when she dies I'm gonna sucker in and Gawd's gon' show me the way and a bunch of other shit.
Atheism merely requires a modest level of intellect and cognitive skill; as apposed to being a Theist, which only requires having an anus to stick ones head into. This correlation explains the overwhelming number of Theist.
@BT3701 Nice one. His first response destroyed your attempt of an argument. You and those who think like you DON'T understand logic. Not believing in God is logical. Believing in God is NOT logical. It's the same exact thing as me believing that 24/7 I have a team of invisible power rangers following me. I can't see or hear them. Thus, choosing to believe in them is NOT logical. If you can't comprehend that then I really don't know what to tell you. Have a nice day.
@BT3701, i can't tell if you're being serious... @YY4Me133 responded to your comment perfectly, and accurately... the burden of proof lies on the believer. i don't disbelief in santa claus because of faith. i disbelief in santa claus because there is no evidence supporting his existence, and i am wiser than a six year old's logic the same way atheists are wiser than a christian's logic. which is exactly what @YY4Me133 was saying.
@Skindoggiedog Nope. The evidence does not exist. But that does not stop Christians from believing that they "know" it exists. Which is my whole point.
@CultOfDusty I just don't like it when you make untrue statements. Of course it's clear what you meant.
I also think it's .. questionable .. to pioneer 'logic', when you don't seem that well-versed in the subject. I understand that you're mostly here for entertainment, and aim for a younger audience, but you invoke things like the Genetic Fallacy. How do you defend something like that?
Don't get me wrong - I love your work - it just irks me when you make mistakes.
You stated; "faith means to believe in something you don't have any proof for." and that; "people of faith are retarded" Now if I use your logic, then those who claim that God doesn't exist without any absolute proof must also be retarded.
@BT3701 It doesn't require evidence to *not* believe in gods, any more than it requires evidence to *not* believe in invisible garden faeries. Evidence is how we discern what's real from what's not. Since there's no evidence that any god(s) exist(s), there's no reason to believe it does/they do.
@YY4Me133 Your comment fails to address my comment. I suggest you postpone replying to my comment unless you first understand what I stated. It's quite obvious you either didn't understand what I said or didn't take time to actually read and grasp it's contents.
@BT3701 Since you won't tell me what you think I missed, I have no choice but to think I did understand what you meant, but you didn't like my response.
@YY4Me133 Not true, you missed my point. Re-read my initial comment and your initial response to it. If you still can't grasp what I stated, then why repeat it?
@BT3701 You're wasting both of our time. If you think I missed something, yet you're unwilling to rephrase it, I can only think it's because I did understand you, but you don't like my response.
Hey dusty your stuffs crazy. Did you curse like that when you were a Christian. I'm just curious. Any way check out wordoffakes when u have time. Piece out fuck ass punk bitch!
Theists hate me. They are always posting nonsensical ramblings, bible scripture or elementary level ridicule on my channel. I need some Atheists to post some common sense to balance out the doltish, indoctrinated, christian tripe.
@thor22289 im just tryin to share truth, if ur too big headed to think u can understand everything in all existance, im sorry, no ones perfect. except jesus, who loves u more than u can fathom. he loves u unconditionally and no matter what u do. u dont have to believe what i do, but when all the worldly pleasures u dwell in fall through once again, give me a call and know god still loves u.
Aww... Christians are fair game, in my opinion. But why make fun of people with Down Syndrome? They don't have a choice. I feel bad for them and don't think it is fair to compare them to people who are willfully ignorant, because that is MUCH worse...
It`s an irony Jesus din`t come with the internet to spread his ideas. He could`ve just had a webpage called jesus.com and everyone all around the world could access it. Unfortunately he couldn`t find a better way to communicate to his people than a primitive book. God needs a tech upgrade.
@roxas12590 It seems to me that your rather the child, cause all you did know is insult me and throw a few prejudices at me. Having proof that God exist means to look beyond what others have writen. Go into the world and find out for yourself..
I've read many books by prominent atheists, so I say to myself, "Am I being fair? Am I giving Christians the benefit of the doubt?" I do realize a lot of atheists read Christian apologists books to get their side of the argument but I feel like I've heard their arguments in debates and choose not to waste my time. So where do I get my unbiased research from? From ex-Evangelicals who very fervently believed, had their own congregation, and wrote books debunking the faith.
the three little pigs was written in the 1840's by one person. the bible was written over thousands of years by some 40 or 50 authors. and some of those people that wrote it lived hundreds of years apart. and every one of them right about the one same thing. gods love and everlasting grace. its very different from the three little pigs. three pigs was written to entertain small children. the bible was documented to save nations. jesus loves you unconditionally. have a nice life
@qwertas1243 You are a mindless idiot. The fact that the book was a "historical record" and was written hundreds of years after the fact should prove that it is utter BS. The people that wrote it were not even intelligent enough to sew sleeves on their clothes, but you believe their hypothesis on how the universe was created? LOL, and we are the dumb ones....
@bizzy401 actually it was all documented at the time of occurence, but guess what, they didnt have social networks, or printing presses to show everyone else. all the documents were made into the bible when it was possible to do so
@qwertas1243 Sounds like god picked the most perfect time in history to prove his love by sending his ONLY son to die for all of humanity, when the event could not be properly documented. He relied on primitive intellect and hearsay... "written over thousands of years by some 40 or 50 authors, and some of those people that wrote it lived hundreds of years apart". Gods plan was flawless, obviously.
It almost sounds like you're joking, but I know Christian logic, and you're being serious. So sad.
@internetwraith your right, he would pick a time that couldnt be documented. because he wants people to have faith in him, and if everyone knew for a fact he existed, then nobody would have faith.
@Thor22289 because he wants his people to know of the things hes done, he did through others, and his life through jesus. the bibles not about proving god, its a documentory.
*Bible: "was documented to save nations" It is REEL.
*Faith: For it is needed no proof, and in fact, the proof only weakens it. "he wants people to have faith in him, and if everyone knew for a fact he existed, then nobody would have faith"
*Bible: Documented "proof" of the existence of a god.
*Bible: Weakens the faith of those who read it because it "prooves" the existence of god, by being a "historically acurate" book made by superhumans.
@qwertas1243 gods love and everlasting grace was not the only things wrote about. You forgot the murders, rapes and all the other horrible acts that were wrote about. You missed the point of it by a mile. The three little pigs was a perfect example. He was trying to show how stupid it would be to believe in it and you just furthered his point even more.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart & lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out, man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows, he cannot really comprehend it.
Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.
@TheQuibert- Anyone can quote from a book, trying your own mind!
If that religion of yours hasn't already distoryed it.
When you can prove this god to be real instead of just believing really hard that he is someone might just take you seriously, untill then your not worth anyone's attention or even commenting here for that matter
If you're not able to write comments without pointlessly quoting the bible your comments are just like spam. Besides, believing blindly is a sign of a weak character who's just too afraid of the possibility that he could come to the conclusion that he believed in the wrong thing. If you'd ever start to be honest to yourself you would see that religion is a childish thing. There are many religions like yours and they all believe in it like you do. You should think about that.
@PSNChrree I see where you're coming from, but it's not about "believing blindly".... I have a true basis on why I believe, just as other Christians (and hopefully not the ones who "claim" to be Christian) do. Physical conclusiveness is man's deception because it is only what he perceives and understands as truth, but there is so much more spiritually. It can never be thoroughly explained by merely words, however, they are helpful -- it's a choice & the Holy Spirit within you that gives truth.
@TheQuibert How convenient "it can't be portrait by words". When you were a child some guy with a book told you a story and you believed it. You have no proof or evidence...you just did...that sounds pretty blindly to me
@TheQuibert Maybe you should take your own advice. "do not be quick to speak. "No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun"? What do you mean "under the sun"? Maybe you should learn what all that really means before you copy it.
I think you didn't understand a single word of what that guy in the video said.
By faith you just want to make yourself believe that there is such a thing as a god so you don't have to be afraid of death. To believe in such a thing means nothing since humans had the idea of a god in the first place. Just because there is a book, written by other people who believed in those things you have nothing that makes it become real. If you spend your time on that you just waste your life.
Christianity and Nazism. Not much difference there! Except maybe the Christians murdered more people during their reign. (not including the 2.4 million murder in the bible of course)
Good video except the Kirk Cameron analogy could be stronger. Superman is a better example of a character similar to the biblical Jesus. He can reverse time, has a constant enemy, can shoot lasers from his eyes, can fly, was resurrected, came from an "other-world" to save us.
Also, Goodwin's Law, on that Christian apologetics analogy. What CA's do is called confirmation bias, ie only reading sources that providence evidence that supports your beliefs. Comparing them to Nazis is a bit harsh.
@zero46t My mistake, I thought you wanted people to change their minds about religion and get their "heads out of the sand", hence the video. But going for a "we don't want you at the cool kids table" approach is good to I guess. Whatever floats your boat.
@zero46t Thing is my freind it should be mocked, anyone who believes the unvierse was magically created by a jewish space spaghetti zombie who it his own son deserves to me mocked mercilessly, no fucking remorse.
@zero46t Yeah and I see it's people like you who's opinion should'nt matter since you people support infinite punishment for finite mistakes, thats how much of a load of scumbag lowlifes you people are. You have no right to call anyone delusional. I have no respect for you people, none at all, so I suggets you stop talking to me unless you wan't to get pizzowned.
@NANOFORGE Oh shit I must have touched a nerve there. If this video is a representation of the way atheists think, than I hope to fucking god (no pun intended) that America stays predominately Christian because I'd rather have a bunch of delusional bible humpers than egotistical stuck up douches who say shit like "pizzowned". Why can't you just respect people's beliefs and leave them alone instead of ridiculing them? Make sure you work hard on your next comment because I'm sure to read it.
@zero46t "Why can't you just respect people's beliefs and leave them alone instead of ridiculing them" Yeah and why can't you religious stuck up monkeys respect our beliefs?, instead you people threaten everyone who doe'snt agree with you with hell. "Oh shit I must have touched a nerve there" You have'nt touched shit so don't even start with that dribble. "Make sure you work hard on your next comment because I'm sure to read it" You're a theist, I hardly have to work hard on this comment do I.
ok thats stupid all that can be destroyed iphones can break pc also cars too but heaven cant be destryed so why care about things that are temporary in this earth. imagine that tommarow thunder fire and other stuff come to earth all that are going to be useless
Perhaps someone will look at our technology in a few thousand years(provided we're still here) and say "why would anyone trust these people, their technology was 100% primitive
@sai10000 "Perhaps someone will look at our technology in a few thousand years(provided we're still here) and say "why would anyone trust these people, their technology was 100% primitive"
as much as I relate to this video, and I think it's brilliant, I still think those who mock faith like that are missing the point. Faith is everywhere, for instance you vote for a candidate at an election, how do you know what he says is the truth? how do you know for a fact that polls are fair? you trust in the system and leave it at that.
Faith is like hunches that there is meaning in life. It is dangerous only if you don't balance it with reason and logic, and keep your mind open, always.
@almagenes We know for a fact that virtually everyone who says they know something about a god or jesus is lying. Not ONCE has a theist ever followed through and provided evidence to support even one of their claims.
You're equating blind faith with differing levels of trust. There's no comparison. The fact that you can't tell the difference is, perhaps, an indicator that there might be more like you, enabling the theists to feel just that bit better about believing in unsubstantiated bullshit.
@Skindoggiedog Look it up: faith comes from the latin for trust/belief. However you call it, in the end trust pretty much permeates the way we work as a species. We need trust in our authorities, bosses, family, friends, love interests, and hope they want our well-being, etc.
All I say is, we don't know much of anything. I am fierce opponent of organized religion, or intelligent design, because it's all BS, but the hope/feeling that somehow there might be "more to 'it' all" stays with me.
@almagenes You're still conflating the two, when they're clearly separate concepts.
There's nobody making a claim that humans don't need/rely on trust in each other to work as a society, so there's no reason for you to keep repeating it - it's a given.
On the one hand is a trust predicated on the facts of past experiences. On the other is a hope or belief in that which does not manifest in any predictable or testable way, and is assumed, without requiring any prior or further justification.
@Skindoggiedog they're clearly separate concepts, says who? I really don't think I'm confusing one thing for another; my belief is that idea, archetypes and concepts evolve in the same way that living organisms do. My belief is that spiritual/religious belief/faith is either a byproduct or a factor of that social trust you speak of, that is necessary for all human entrerprises, the same way I believe that gods and goddesses were simply the evolution of imaginary mother/father figures...
@almagenes No, you're just not showing that you understand the difference between trust based on previous experience versus a wish to believe something regardless of the evidence (or lack of it)
@Skindoggiedog I'm very sorry to say but you make it seem like I'm being the devil's advocate, when I'm only trying to bridge differing comprehensions of the same thing. You are pushing me in a corner trying to make me feel like I'm a fundamentalist something but you're really being intolerant and merely saying that you don't care about what people think if they think differently from you. At least I am open to discussion, but you're only prone to shutting me down, so why are you even answering?
@Skindoggiedog ok I guess I got a bit carried away there, sorry.
On the matter of faith in politics: I insist. Religion and politics have actually very similar meaning, etymologically speaking; anyway, the way people still want to believe in "useful politics" today, even though we know it to be corrupted by corporate interests, show just as much "blind faith" as any other religious zealot. "Don't like X? Vote Y." Both are funded by the same interests, so yeah, that's giving up logic for faith...
@almagenes "the hope/feeling that somehow there might be "more to 'it' all" stays with me"
There's nothing wrong with that. I think everyone has that, to some degree, whether they admit it or not, but don't sell yourself short. Faith is people believing things that they want to believe regardless of the evidence (or lack of it)
You make no argument here. First of all belief pretty much = faith, and even if faith was only originated by the word trust, still there is no argument here. Trust is a completely different concept than faith, that's why we have 2 different words for trust, and faith.
You can trust your authorities to a degree, but you should never just... have faith in them without questioning because you'll turn into a mindless drone.
@WhereTheyAre I was merely contending that trust and faith are underlied by the same social principles. Faith is trust carried to an absolute (submit to the divine/invisible order of things). There's no rational explanation for faith on its own standards alone but if you take the sociological angle, it's really social cement, same as trust in any other relationship, so I stand my case.
What was your argument again? These are 2 different words so clearly you're wrong. Is there more coming, or...?
@almagenes ""My belief is that spiritual/religious belief/faith is ..... for all human entrerprises""
No argument there. I comment because of the statements you made here:
"Faith is everywhere, for instance you vote for a candidate at an election, how do you know what he says is the truth? how do you know for a fact that polls are fair? you trust in the system and leave it at that."
That's either an insanely bad example, and doesn't represent your position in any way, or you're conflating.
@almagenes I agree with you wholeheartedly on what you said on politics, but that doesn't come under the definition Dusty provides here of 'faith': - "believing in something that you have no evidence for".
People have plenty of evidence regarding politicians, voting systems, corruption & human nature.
What's being mocked is virtually non-existent standards of evidence.
Mmm. On reflection, I think, perhaps, I/we may just be using a much narrower definition of the word 'faith' than yourself.
I wish I believed that the world was ridding itself of the shackles of religion. But its not. The movie Idiocracy is turning from a comedy into a documentary. The religious nuts have 6 kids, and brainwash them worse than those who came before them.
I think I will be re posting this video on facebook and any other social site account I have. The fact you mention that everyone who believe in god means well, but the new age we live in can dis prove it should hopfully open up peoples eyes. Thank you!
u know whats funny atheist spend so much time mocking and trying too destroyed the bible throw there reason and logic

Also, when exactly have you heard the devil? if you are just going to call things that you disagree with 'the devil' you are as retarded as the mother out of The Waterboy.
mgigkgeg 1 month ago
@newbirth17 What evidence? I'm sure the entire world would be interested to hear about it.
Oh, but its probably something like "only true believers have the truth revealed to them through Jesus!" That would be real convenient, people having to believe in something for no reason in order to be given a reason to believe it. What a great fucking religion, at least you don't have to pay money. Unless I'm wrong and you have some real evidence, in which case please provide it and excuse my language.

Let me tell you something a wise man once said: a little knowledge of science makes man an atheist, but an in-depth study of science makes him a believer in God. Scientists today are eliminating models of
God, but they are not eliminating God.
Your assumption is based on poor observations the truth is Jesus is God and he exists, you can choose to not believe it but it does not make the truth into lie.
motorstorm78 2 months ago
@motorstorm78 If you were so wise you would know that was Francis Bacon and if your knew anything about him you wouldn't be quoting the father of empiricism as a Christian. Once again its the truth because you say so no evidence or proof? How about you say something smart instead of just parroting what someone else said to you that didn't know shit either.
necromx 2 months ago
@motorstorm78 And yet you would be unable to offer up one shred of evidence (outside of biblical mythology) that Jesus even existed, let alone had divine power. For all his alleged power and awesomeness, he managed to leave not a trace of his physical existence upon the world. If he existed at all, he was at best a good man but a false prophet. "Truth" to you is whatever the little voice conjured up by your psyche tells you. And it's reinforced by others who are similarly deluded.
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven my friend, you actually think what you are saying is smart but..its not I'm not here to force you have faith in him just to let you know and testify to the truth if Jesus was a false prophet he would not have the fame he has today and who are you to tell me I'm delusional if when you are condemning what you simply dare not to understand? I've seem the worst people being tamed by God and now worship him because they now know him.
motorstorm78 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 And I've encountered plenty of devout Christians who woke up and renounced their faith. Maybe you don't realize this, but most atheists in this country were born and raised Christian. Been there, done that. They became atheists when they learned to think for themselves, and they understand their former faith way better than the flock they left. Enjoy your delusion, and your life of subservience to your non-existent god. And cling to that support group; you need it :)
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 Psalm 14:1-3 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good. The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that act wisely, that seek after God. They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt; there is none that does good, no, not one.
If you must know I was an atheist at one point so please don't bother trying being arrogant and sarcastic with me.
motorstorm78 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic. I was being completely serious. The fact that you took it as sarcasm is telling. And your reply is as predictable as the sun. Every Christian does this: whenever you can't come up with anything substantive to say, you start spouting scripture like a parrot. The irony of your Psalm 14 is that it's nothing more than a feeble attempt to immunize scripture to critique by labeling thinkers as fools. Better to be a drone or a sheep, huh?
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 But you want to know why? because it is the foundation of our faith just like a scientist gets their information from their foundation of their faith* which is a textbook of course but no one says anything and because that's exactly what it is and they do don't know many things for sure. The fact that I decided to ignore your rude blind thoughts shows how of a different person you may think I am I don't condemn you for not believing in God but you condemn me,
motorstorm78 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 But you DIDN'T ignore it, did you? You responded. Let me explain something to you: If you think the foundation of a scientist's work is "faith", you truly haven't a clue what science is or how the scientific method works. This is just you projecting your own ignorance onto the rest of humanity because you don't know how to do any differently. Science is the antithesis of faith. Polar opposites laddie. Oh, and textbooks are written BECAUSE of the work scientists do.
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 Just today I read the new york times a small section about *two new earths discovered* it turns out that in that small section alone it is stated that "scientists are *hoping* to find life in those planets* what do you call that? and tell me what sounds more delusional scientists believing in aliens from outer space who can travel by the speed of life which possibly are the cause of all life or me believing in the almighty God?
motorstorm78 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 Do you understand that there is a huge difference between hope and faith? Even atheists have hope. I hope next week will be warm and sunny. But I don't have FAITH that next week will be warm and sunny because I prayed to an invisible god to change the weather for me. Hope is optimism. Faith is believing in something for which there is no observable evidence, and you have nothing more than a "gut feeling" to go on. Scientists are human too so yes, they have hope.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Part 2) Hope motivates people to better their world. But a scientist's work does NOT rely on hope or faith. It's controlled by a rigid process called the scientific method. And their findings are peer reviewed. This means that scientists are even more brutal and critical of their fellow scientists than a creationist could ever be. Compared to a scientific peer review, creationist dogma is child's play to deal with. Science works. Science gets results. Faith does not.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Part 3) If you still don't understand this, you owe it to yourself to learn what the scientific method is and how it works. Because right now, you're revealing your ignorance to the world. Now, regarding your question as to which is more delusional, that's a no-brainer. Your belief in the almighty invisible sky god is WAY more delusional than the very real possibility that there could be life on other planets. I didn't even have to think for 3 seconds on that one.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Part 4) The universe is immensely huge with literally trillions of star systems and yet we don't even have to look farther than our own back yard to see that life on other planets is at least POSSIBLE. Nevertheless, scientists won't BELIEVE there is life on other planets until they actually find evidence of it. Same with god. Unless or until compelling evidence is presented for the existence of a god, atheism is the only sane and intellectually honest way to go.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Part 5) Statements like "I know god is real because the holy spirit opened my eyes" do not cut it. That may satisfy you. But until you can prove it, keep it to yourself. In closing, let's revisit the topic of arrogance. Christians believe this incredibly vast universe was created exclusively for a bunch of insignificant humans on a little blue planet whose star is only one of 200 billion in a single unremarkable galaxy. Who's the arrogant one now?
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 I never said the holy spirit opened my eyes and worst of all that would not cut it for me, I'm not here to prove God just to defend his existence. I know he is real because he has proven it to me and millions of others out there with solid clear evidence, and asides of our testimonies there are facts that you cannot ignore in history about the Bible and the most outstanding fact that the Bible does not ever contradict itself but of course you think the opposite of this.
motorstorm78 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 Sorry for being unclear, I wasn't directing that statement at you personally but at Christians in general. Let's ignore the volatile topic of "proof" and talk about contradictions. There are in fact hundreds in the bible. Critical thinkers see them plain as day. Even when I was still a Christian, they were glaringly obvious to me when I undertook my own bible study. In my experience, there are two kinds of Christians who claim there are no contradictions in the bible:
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Pt 2) those that haven't actually read it (but say they have), and the apologists: Christians that are capable of extraordinary mental contortions to explain away the contradictions, even though it usually requires speculation that is simply not substantiated by the text of the bible. And they always think THEY ALONE are capable of knowing the correct context and interpretation of a passage, even though they can't even agree amongst themselves what it is.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Pt 3) There are literally thousands of Christian sects, all stemming from different interpretations of scripture. Even within the SAME sect, Christian scholars don't always agree. Christians can't even agree on what the conditions are for salvation. Violence has flared between sects over interpretation of god's "perfect word". Now, you and I may never see eye to eye regarding the contradictions. But this much is abundantly clear: the bible is extremely ambiguous.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Pt 4) It's pointless to deny it, the proof is in our own actions. Incalculable time and effort has been spent and countless books have been written to try to make sense of a book that is supposed to be perfect. And the question I would pose to you is simply, Why? We're told god wants people to know his will, as well as his expectations of us. You're seriously telling me this is the best he could do? If a god really did inspire the bible it would indeed be PERFECT.
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Pt 5) There would be no ambiguity whatsoever and not even a HINT of contradiction. A Frenchman and a Chinaman should be able to read the book, have an epiphany, and walk away with the exact same interpretation and understanding. The mere act of reading the book would fill us with indescribable awe. Instead what we find is a clusterfuck that was compiled under serious allegations of forgery and deceit, containing stories of extreme barbarism that
88rat88 1 month ago
@motorstorm78 (Pt 6) positively smack of human invention. Stories that were very obviously conceived and written by the primitive, violent, ignorant, misogynistic, slave-owning barbarians of the time. Christians believe god created the entire cosmos in 6 days. But then he seems utterly impotent and incapable of writing a book without ambiguity. Doesn't that seem a little strange to you?
88rat88 1 month ago
@88rat88 Don't forget that he's also supposed to be all-powerful even though it took him 6 WHOLE DAYS to create everything AND he needed TO REST!

ReThinkHeroic 4 months ago
@BT3701, i can't tell if you're being serious... @YY4Me133 responded to your comment perfectly, and accurately... the burden of proof lies on the believer. i don't disbelief in santa claus because of faith. i disbelief in santa claus because there is no evidence supporting his existence, and i am wiser than a six year old's logic the same way atheists are wiser than a christian's logic. which is exactly what @YY4Me133 was saying.

1:55 "Just knowing the evidence exists"
They don't "know" the evidence exists. Saying so is a claim about the actuality of said evidence.
Do you have 'evidence' supportive of christian faith, Dusty? If so, let's see/hear it.
Skindoggiedog 4 months ago
@Skindoggiedog Nope. The evidence does not exist. But that does not stop Christians from believing that they "know" it exists. Which is my whole point.

BT3701 4 months ago
@BT3701 It doesn't require evidence to *not* believe in gods, any more than it requires evidence to *not* believe in invisible garden faeries. Evidence is how we discern what's real from what's not. Since there's no evidence that any god(s) exist(s), there's no reason to believe it does/they do.

the three little pigs was written in the 1840's by one person. the bible was written over thousands of years by some 40 or 50 authors. and some of those people that wrote it lived hundreds of years apart. and every one of them right about the one same thing. gods love and everlasting grace. its very different from the three little pigs. three pigs was written to entertain small children. the bible was documented to save nations. jesus loves you unconditionally. have a nice life
qwertas1243 7 months ago
@qwertas1243 You are a mindless idiot. The fact that the book was a "historical record" and was written hundreds of years after the fact should prove that it is utter BS. The people that wrote it were not even intelligent enough to sew sleeves on their clothes, but you believe their hypothesis on how the universe was created? LOL, and we are the dumb ones....
bizzy401 7 months ago
@bizzy401 actually it was all documented at the time of occurence, but guess what, they didnt have social networks, or printing presses to show everyone else. all the documents were made into the bible when it was possible to do so
qwertas1243 7 months ago
@qwertas1243 Sounds like god picked the most perfect time in history to prove his love by sending his ONLY son to die for all of humanity, when the event could not be properly documented. He relied on primitive intellect and hearsay... "written over thousands of years by some 40 or 50 authors, and some of those people that wrote it lived hundreds of years apart". Gods plan was flawless, obviously.
It almost sounds like you're joking, but I know Christian logic, and you're being serious. So sad.
internetwraith 6 months ago
@internetwraith your right, he would pick a time that couldnt be documented. because he wants people to have faith in him, and if everyone knew for a fact he existed, then nobody would have faith.
qwertas1243 6 months ago
@qwertas1243 So, why did he documented it on the bible to begin with?
Thor22289 6 months ago
@Thor22289 because he wants his people to know of the things hes done, he did through others, and his life through jesus. the bibles not about proving god, its a documentory.
qwertas1243 6 months ago
@qwertas1243 NOPE.avi
Your "logic":
*Bible: "was documented to save nations" It is REEL.
*Faith: For it is needed no proof, and in fact, the proof only weakens it. "he wants people to have faith in him, and if everyone knew for a fact he existed, then nobody would have faith"
*Bible: Documented "proof" of the existence of a god.
*Bible: Weakens the faith of those who read it because it "prooves" the existence of god, by being a "historically acurate" book made by superhumans.
*Bible: BAD
Thor22289 6 months ago
@qwertas1243 But of course, it doesn't matter if you can't follow your own statements, because the statements themselves are wrong.
-The bible is not historically acurate.
-People don't live hundreds of years, not even with our tech.
-You're a natural troll.
-God is not real.
-The bible describes god as an asshole, not as a all-loving superbeing.
-"His people" is classist and hateful statement.
-You haven't read the fucking bible.

Hebrews 11:3
By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
James 2:18
Romans 1:17
2 Corinthians 1:24
James 2:14
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? ... Can that kind of faith save anyone?
Romans 14:23
But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

@TheQuibert

Great video Dusty!

I just don't want them to teach their bullshit in schools, and one day this whole religion joke is going to fade.

@zero46t My mistake, I thought you wanted people to change their minds about religion and get their "heads out of the sand", hence the video. But going for a "we don't want you at the cool kids table" approach is good to I guess. Whatever floats your boat.

"Make sure you work hard on your next comment because I'm sure to read it" You're a theist, I hardly have to work hard on this comment do I.

as much as I relate to this video, and I think it's brilliant, I still think those who mock faith like that are missing the point. Faith is everywhere, for instance you vote for a candidate at an election, how do you know what he says is the truth? how do you know for a fact that polls are fair? you trust in the system and leave it at that.
Faith is like hunches that there is meaning in life. It is dangerous only if you don't balance it with reason and logic, and keep your mind open, always.
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes We know for a fact that virtually everyone who says they know something about a god or jesus is lying. Not ONCE has a theist ever followed through and provided evidence to support even one of their claims.
You're equating blind faith with differing levels of trust. There's no comparison. The fact that you can't tell the difference is, perhaps, an indicator that there might be more like you, enabling the theists to feel just that bit better about believing in unsubstantiated bullshit.
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@Skindoggiedog Look it up: faith comes from the latin for trust/belief. However you call it, in the end trust pretty much permeates the way we work as a species. We need trust in our authorities, bosses, family, friends, love interests, and hope they want our well-being, etc.
All I say is, we don't know much of anything. I am fierce opponent of organized religion, or intelligent design, because it's all BS, but the hope/feeling that somehow there might be "more to 'it' all" stays with me.
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes You're still conflating the two, when they're clearly separate concepts.
There's nobody making a claim that humans don't need/rely on trust in each other to work as a society, so there's no reason for you to keep repeating it - it's a given.
On the one hand is a trust predicated on the facts of past experiences. On the other is a hope or belief in that which does not manifest in any predictable or testable way, and is assumed, without requiring any prior or further justification.
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@Skindoggiedog they're clearly separate concepts, says who? I really don't think I'm confusing one thing for another; my belief is that idea, archetypes and concepts evolve in the same way that living organisms do. My belief is that spiritual/religious belief/faith is either a byproduct or a factor of that social trust you speak of, that is necessary for all human entrerprises, the same way I believe that gods and goddesses were simply the evolution of imaginary mother/father figures...
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes No, you're just not showing that you understand the difference between trust based on previous experience versus a wish to believe something regardless of the evidence (or lack of it)
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@almagenes So, no. They're not even close to being the same thing.
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@Skindoggiedog I'm very sorry to say but you make it seem like I'm being the devil's advocate, when I'm only trying to bridge differing comprehensions of the same thing. You are pushing me in a corner trying to make me feel like I'm a fundamentalist something but you're really being intolerant and merely saying that you don't care about what people think if they think differently from you. At least I am open to discussion, but you're only prone to shutting me down, so why are you even answering?
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes How about you stay off the ad-homs and try addressing my critique of your post(s)?
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@Skindoggiedog ok I guess I got a bit carried away there, sorry.
On the matter of faith in politics: I insist. Religion and politics have actually very similar meaning, etymologically speaking; anyway, the way people still want to believe in "useful politics" today, even though we know it to be corrupted by corporate interests, show just as much "blind faith" as any other religious zealot. "Don't like X? Vote Y." Both are funded by the same interests, so yeah, that's giving up logic for faith...
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes "the hope/feeling that somehow there might be "more to 'it' all" stays with me"
There's nothing wrong with that. I think everyone has that, to some degree, whether they admit it or not, but don't sell yourself short. Faith is people believing things that they want to believe regardless of the evidence (or lack of it)
You obviously don't do that.
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago
@almagenes
"faith comes from the latin for trust/belief."
WhereTheyAre 8 months ago
@WhereTheyAre I was merely contending that trust and faith are underlied by the same social principles. Faith is trust carried to an absolute (submit to the divine/invisible order of things). There's no rational explanation for faith on its own standards alone but if you take the sociological angle, it's really social cement, same as trust in any other relationship, so I stand my case.
What was your argument again? These are 2 different words so clearly you're wrong. Is there more coming, or...?
almagenes 8 months ago
@almagenes ""My belief is that spiritual/religious belief/faith is ..... for all human entrerprises""
No argument there. I comment because of the statements you made here:
"Faith is everywhere, for instance you vote for a candidate at an election, how do you know what he says is the truth? how do you know for a fact that polls are fair? you trust in the system and leave it at that."
That's either an insanely bad example, and doesn't represent your position in any way, or you're conflating.
Skindoggiedog 8 months ago

Its happening with republicans, too.
