NAA scored 2 home runs in a row with the oustanding P-51 and F-86. While the Hun was a history maker as the first supersonic fighter and first of the Century Series, it didn't quite rise to the level of its predecessors. It had its share of teething trouble with roll-coupling and metal fatigue. A good base hit, but no home run.
@AstroChickenII they shot down 3 migs but failed to protect bombers well, so they were primarily used as close air support and as wild weasel aircraft, yes they could use sidewinders, 4 but no sparrows, they lacked radar
Sweet memories! Thanks jaglavaksoldier for taking me back. I was at a firebase (Bong Son) and more than a few times I saw these things screaming overhead to save our asses.
remember the MISTY pilots !!!

Beautiful plane, but i can see why it wasn't completely suitable. But hey, it was used during war, not every plane had that "promise" fulfilled.

What was up with the camo paint around the F-100s tail planes? did the engine get so hot that it damaged the paint?

Couldn't the super sabre also carry sidewinders? How many MiGs did they shoot down?

@AstroChickenII
migs only flew in North Vietnam, and the south had no fighters. It was used as a bomber
