The use of soundtrack music in TV news has helped to lower the quality of news to merely "entertainment". Soundtrack music, if you watch any Hollywood film, is there to encourage certain emotional responses. When used in TV news, it implies that the average viewer either *needs* that crutch to understand the news, or are being herded into a specific emotional state for some reason.

Remove the soundtrack & let the words be speak for themselves.
