I have friends who own European & Japanese luxury brands. They are wealthy people who buy new luxury vehicles because they want to & have the means to do so. Hyundai has come a long way in terms of quality and performance. Even with all the improvements to the brand I think they still will have a hard time getting people to pay close to $50K for a new fully loaded Genesis 4.6 or for a fully loaded Hyundai Equus which goes as high as $65,000.
hmm....uptown lux, midtown price. Looks like a bargain, but the problem is, it kinda feels like it too. It executes it's goals competently, but it lacks a distinctive character or passion in doing so. it'll generally satisfy, but you'll still feel a lil inadequate if an E-class pulls up next to you. Hyundai succeeds at being the bargain for its class, but not necessarily the best....
Hyundai Is the best, eventually all those luxuries car costs are gnna have to drop to compete. There's nothing out of the ordinary when a car maker comes up with a feature that sells cars and the competition then incorporates that technology into its vehicles. I've owned the Genesis for 1 month. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have stiffer handling & more sporty performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura-you are delusional. Smoothness of ride & quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. Genesis offers two emblem sets, the hyundai logo and the genesis logos. its not a knockoff bentley logo, it looks nothing like the bentley logo. The genesis is hyundais comeback from the garbage they used to sell. Anyone who ridicules the genesis is ignorant because 98% of you have never driven the car, nor sat in one. @1eastoff I wouldn't say same quality. Soft leather seats and a redesigned interior don't make it as good as the german cars. Does it have all the safety features that a merc does? Is its handling as involving as a BMW? We might not have driven the Genesis, but how many Mercs and BMWs have you driven? Take it to a crash test and see how it scores against a Mercedes Benz. It is quite easy to say that this thing looks like that brand's car and that part looks like another brand's car because we have tons of cars out there. If you wanna see a real copy cat, check Hondas' from 2000s. Whenever I drive on highway, I think that a rear design cue of Honda Accord Coupe really looks like benz's. Also, another BMW-ish desgin cue can be found at Honda Civic. NA Mazda miata copied Lotus Elan and it is needless to talk about Nissan Zs?

BUT, the price of a genesis is about a third cheaper than both an S and a 750i. for those who cant afford an S550 or a 750i, a genesis is an amazing car for the money. its got a good engine, beautiful interior, massive interior space, and a 17 speaker rolls royce logic 7 sound system. all that for about $45,000-50,000 is pretty good. an S550 can run $160000here

I have friends who own European & Japanese luxury brands. They are wealthy people who buy new luxury vehicles because they want to & have the means to do so. Hyundai has come a long way in terms of quality and performance. Even with all the improvements to the brand I think they still will have a hard time getting people to pay close to $50K for a new fully loaded Genesis 4.6 or for a fully loaded Hyundai Equus which goes as high as $65,000.

hmm....uptown lux, midtown price. Looks like a bargain, but the problem is, it kinda feels like it too. It executes it's goals competently, but it lacks a distinctive character or passion in doing so. it'll generally satisfy, but you'll still feel a lil inadequate if an E-class pulls up next to you. Hyundai succeeds at being the bargain for its class, but not necessarily the best....

Hyundai Is the best, eventually all those luxuries car costs are gnna have to drop to compete. Anyone who says anything bad about Hyundai is just a hater and is too ignorant to admit they've come a long way and that they actually make nice cars now. Getting a mercedez or lexus or even a bmw is just paying extra money for no reason, your only paying for the name. I bet if Hyundai were to have first release it badgeless to the public it wouldve gotten twice if not triple the publicity.

I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree. But I think 10-15 years from now, you will be preaching a different story. Hyundai will make its mark in its own right. They're just trying to compete, although it's not in a way that is acceptable to you and some others on this forum. But most people I've spoken to are quite impressed with the car and friends of mine who own BMW, Benz, Lexus, and Infiniti told me that my Genesis is a surprisingly impressive car after I took them for a spin.

For you to say that they did a "cut and paste" is your ignorant way of justifying your dislike of the company. When I first saw the Lexus in the 80s I thought it looked like a Benz but I knew it wasn't. Fast forward to today. When I look at a Genesis, it looks like a premium car but it doesn't look exactly like any of them.

I'm no fool and I do not stand alone in my opinion. Many people who respect automotive design mock Hyundai for it's automotive plagiarism. There's nothing out of the ordinary when a car maker comes up with a feature that sells cars and the competition then incorporates that technology into its vehicles. That is what evolves the automotive industry. In hyundais case I'm talking about blatant copying of design. They're evolving the industry how? They're not.

I've owned the Genesis for 1 month. I've ridden in BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, Acuras, VWs, and Volvos. Admittedly the European cars have stiffer handling & more sporty performance feel so if you're looking for this, the Genesis is not for you. But for you critics who think the Genesis is not as smooth as Lexus, Infiniti, or Acura-you are delusional. Smoothness of ride & quietness of cabin are on par with the Japanese competitors. in the luxury market everyone copies everyone. I bought the Genesis 4.6 because i want the most out of my money. Genesis offers two emblem sets, the hyundai logo and the genesis logos. its not a knockoff bentley logo, it looks nothing like the bentley logo. The genesis is hyundais comeback from the garbage they used to sell. Anyone who ridicules the genesis is ignorant because 98% of you have never driven the car, nor sat in one. Id rather pay 50g's than 90 for a car with the same quality?

@1eastoff I wouldn't say same quality. Soft leather seats and a redesigned interior don't make it as good as the german cars. Does it have all the safety features that a merc does? Is its handling as involving as a BMW? We might not have driven the Genesis, but how many Mercs and BMWs have you driven? Take it to a crash test and see how it scores against a Mercedes Benz. It is quite easy to say that this thing looks like that brand's car and that part looks like another brand's car because we have tons of cars out there. If you wanna see a real copy cat, check Hondas' from 2000s. Whenever I drive on highway, I think that a rear design cue of Honda Accord Coupe really looks like benz's. Also, another BMW-ish desgin cue can be found at Honda Civic. NA Mazda miata copied Lotus Elan and it is needless to talk about Nissan Zs?

Sorry idiot, but Joel Piaskowski who used to be the head of Hyundai design who designed the Genesis here was taken by Mercedes Benz not long ago to be the Chief of Mercedes Benz Design....Hmmm, I wonder why Mercedes Benz hired Piaskowski as head of their design studio if he only makes copycat designs?? You must know about car design more than all the professional designers who work for Mercedes benz... What an arrogant ignorant loser & a sad hater :)

nice luxurios car but with all my respect for genesis, they can never reach for benz, lexus and bmw prestige class!! cuz in the end off the day u own a HYUNDAI, i rather go for infinity instead atleast it has astronger history of luxury cars, but a great car though comparing it with its self :)

The people in the world that included me do not have the reason and dislike Hyundai, and there is not it. Because genesis and Equus plagiarize the design of the Mercedes S class clearly, I avoid it. I say that it is what is not forgiven to do business in the thing which stole the design of the person. The people in the world that included me would not criticize Hyundai if genesis was an original design.

It is focused on a malfunctioning stop lamp switch that may prevent brake lights from illuminating when the pedal is depressed (the same switch may also cause them to stay lit after the brakes are released).

@predatorinstincts though i do agree with you. merc would indeed orally fuck a genesis, and the genesis would be anally fucked by a BMW. BUT, the price of a genesis is about a third cheaper than both an S and a 750i. for those who cant afford an S550 or a 750i, a genesis is an amazing car for the money. its got a good engine, beautiful interior, massive interior space, and a 17 speaker rolls royce logic 7 sound system. all that for about $45,000-50,000 is pretty good. an S550 can run $160000here
