Hey Matt, I have a question. The CD's that you use to burn the Guitar Hero 3 Custom ISO; is it possible to use a DVD+R DL Disc or what does it have to be? Could you PM me and tell me what specific disc I need please? Because I have followed your lovely guide for the past couple months and every time I go to swap the disc the laser eye makes a funny noise and doesn't want to load it up.

I dunno if it's been mentioned, but yes the swap trick works both on slim and fat PS2s, with the relevant hardware modifications (tape-and-tissue, slide key, etc.).

damn, when i try to export to iml in dvd decrypter, i get an error that says "Total sector exceeds the recordable sector" and I dont think my file is too large because it's still only 4.2gb (which is how big the normal game is), so im not sure what this error means and why it's not letting me export. Can someone tell me?

The best available is Sony DVD-R. Sony is fastest and least glitchy in your PS2 because well Sony made the PS2! And yes to all those other questions. If you don't know how to boot your custom disk I can tell you that too.

thank you, oh and to boot my custom disk i probably need to make my ps2 (slim) modded by taping up the sensors in it? that way i dont need to close the ps2 and it would start to spin and i would then need to do the swap trick? if so at what time? when it slows down right?

unfortunately the swap trick does not work on the ps2 slim. =( BUT simply go onto Google shopping and search "swap magic". The flip top bundle is what you want. Remove the cover that holds the disk and put on the flip top IMPORTANT: Do not remove the sensors! The flip top will not react with the sensors but your ps2 doesn't know. Put in Swap Magic 3.6 *DVD* disk NOT CD!!! now wait for the disk to stop. Take out the Swap Magic disk and insert your custom disk. Press load program. You're in!

hey i think i found it click the link then wait till 2nd page then go to left hand side and click the link that says DVD ripping then at the top it says download SETUPDVDDecrypter then the version of it and just click that set it up and done!

So I try putting some songs on, but it says that there is 0 channels in the song, but it only supports 2, 4, or 6 channels. So how do I change the song to have these amounts of channels? Or is there a program where I can put channels on them? Thanks to any who can help.

hey i had the same problem i think this happens when you are doing the command prompt part you have to rename the number that you named the files rename it as mattdylan101 tells you too. it says that error message because the number you are putting in is not corresponding with any song in the game. so if there is 25 bonus songs and you started to name the files using 26 and on (what i did) this error message popped up. so just rename them so they are 25 or below if u are using bonus list.

alright... try getting another mp3 version of the song and download the chart file again or if u don't want to download chart file just keep it and make the new version of the mp3 file. try that hopefully it works

If the swap magic disc doen't work, use an ORIGINAL PS2 disc to start up your system.

As soon as you see "Playstation 2" on your screen, use the swap card method.

I have used this method personally, and it works the same way an old school American PS would with an imported disc.

What difficulty are you playing on? You are probably trying to play on a difficulty that wasn't charted. Try playing on Expert and if that fails the try Easy through Hard.

When he says go into Mode -> ISO -> Read, go to Write instead. The little folder should pop up then. The folder will only be named GH3C if you already named it or if you have the GH3 CD in. You're supposed to put a blank DVD-R into the drive and burn it onto that. The swap trick is when you're using a modded PS2 slim. Search for "PS2 swap trick" videos and you should be able to find a video that shows how to do it.

When I modded mine, there was only 2 switches to block since mine was the SCPH-79001 model (The newest one). When I tried the swap trick, the same thing happened. The easiest way to fix that would probably be to buy Swap Magic 3.6. It only cost about $25 and it will let you play burned games and imports. The cheapest I was able to find it was at eStarland. Just type eStarland into Google and it should be the first link that pops up. Then just search Magic Swap 3.6 and order the first one.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You won't need the flip top if you already modded your PS2 though. That's only so you can open it up and switch the discs. If you already have it modded, then you only need the CDs, which is $22 I think it was + $4 shipping and it ships really fast. I just got it a few days ago, downloaded and burned a few games, and it works perfectly.

hats the thing tho man, my buddy sold me his ps2 it has a mod chip already in it and he has burnt games for it that ive played on it already juss have to put the game in turn off the system turn the system back on and hit the reset button twice and it loads up fine, maybe its different for a GH game? i unno i juss dont wanna spend 25 bucks it get here and not work cuz of somthing i fucked up in the burning process like i matched everything matt said i even watched the videos over twice

I see. I haven't tried it with a mod chip. I just blocked off the sensors on mine. If it can read burnt games, then you might not even have to swap the cds. If turning the system off and on, then hitting reset doesn't work for GH, then the safest thing would probably be to wait for World Tour. lol

There was only 2 that I had to block in mine, since it's the newest model, but I blocked the thing that stops the disc from spinning and I blocked the sensor that tells when the lid opens. That's why I needed Swap Magic. There wasn't a third to block off in mine. You can look up videos for that on YouTube too. Type PS2 Slim mod to see how to do that. I haven't tried using a PS2 controller to play. It seems like it would be a pain in the ass to play. I'm not even that good using the guitar. lol

lol yea i have a fat ps2 so i guess it doesnt have sensors seeing i juss took the whole thing apart because the stupid top fell off my desk and ripped out my reset and tray wires out, so i hadda take it all apart and reattach it lol but yeah check out my two videos from my page, there is the metal and i think there is cliffs of dover that i play with a normal controller i was juss using a web cam so poor quality and i show controller at the start i dont ahve a normal one, too poor for that lol.

Second, I haven't gotten this working, yet. I have a modded PS2 Slim. After I followed this, and did the CD switch it still didn't work. The only part I think I may have messed up on was copying the files over. I didn't see you copy over the 125, 150, and 200 folders, but I did. Was I not supposed to copy those or could I have messed something else up?

You probably don't have a dvd burner. If you don't know if you have one, then you most likely don't have one.

Vista looks nice and has some usefull tools, but thats about it.

Hardware support by hardware providers is still shit. and Microsoft messed up the DirectSound so it's unlikely you'll get decent sound.

XP still rocks. took me 5 months of waiting for support for my supposedly "Vista Compatible" hardware/software, to go back to XP permanently.

"There doesn't appear to be enough space on the disc to burn this image."

the image size is about 1,800,000 sectors and the disc size is about 364,000. why does this happen?

Be sure to burn it at 4x, if it is still laggy, burn it at lowest setting possible.
