It's a class A tube amp, turn it up for Christ sake and enjoy some classic EL84 crunch! This head was meant to be played dimed, eh? that's the whole point of low wattage tube heads. WFO without blowing out your ear drums or cabs.
Very nice tone and playing style, I could listen to that anytime.
I bought the VJ combo a few days ago, I think it's the ver3 with the 3 speaker impedance 4, 8, 16 ohm but I'm dissapointed with the tone, it's not as good as my VOX DA5, maybe just my cheap Strat copy, although as I said the DA5 sounds good thru it, hard to evaluate with very limited experience as to how much the actual guitar contributes to the tone.
@konnen2 hey man. yeah i know its a little late haha but yeah i got the stack andwas dissapointed to :(. but just slap it on a 2x12 with celestion greenback clones. aaaahhhh AMAZING
@XxENDORUSHxX thanks for the suggestion, I have recently bought a cheap distortion pedal, what a difference, it's turned my cheap Strat copy into a growling beast with unbelievable sustain, it really makes the VJ wake up.
Thanks for checking my vid out... Yes. But only if you are playing in a small venue. And I do mean small. And of course, you can drown out your drummer if he(or she) is not mic'd. Also, the size of your cab makes a difference. If you are simply using a 1x12, then if may be difficult to completely drown out your drummer. I suggest you play throug at least a 2x12. The outflow of sound is much wider and massive. Hope this was helpful.
This sounds great after modifying my valve jr head with ot and dual bit mo tone control and master volume I love the classic 30 cab I have I have tried cleaner speakers but I love blues and it gives great tone
Of course, both the tubes and the speakers has an effect on tone. Most amps use pretty much the same tubes. In this case with my EVJ, I think that the Celestion Greenbacks I use make the difference. I have ran the EVJ through other speakers, and the difference could be easily heard in the quality, type, and brand of speakers. The choice of speaker depends on the tone you are looking for, and the style of music you prefer.
i like the way you play bro. i have the same amp.

is that avatars new name plate or there old one?
dbenc 2 years ago
I got the cab a little over a year ago. I can assume it is a newer name plate, but not 100% sure.

How do you like the Avatar? Just ordered mine today. Hope there as good as they say.

This is the best clean sound I've heard from a valve junior! I'm guessing it's due to the 2x12 rather than 1x12. Sounds great!
