@FlamingGnats SWG is a true mmorpg (at least it was in Pre-CU), any mmo should have complete freedom, as much of a fan of tunnel shooters i am, putting a tunnel shooter into a MMO game is totally a stupid move, tunnel shooters is great for single player or 2 players or maybe 2-4 online. Its one of many aspects thats going to be a downfall of ToR. KoToR + WoW (or a feature stripped SWG) = ToR with improved graphics. They should have just made KoToR 3 with PvP and co op multi player modes.

@madmax2069 Tell that to the couple thousands of people testing the game. They're all enjoying it and it's hard for them to leave TOR for their other MMOs. Yeah the Tunnel Shooter is little meh for an MMO, but it's not part of the main game. Give BioWare some time, they'll most likely add in Space Combat similar to this.

@ChrisRedfield1991 Doesn't have anything to do with how good it is. Generally beta testers stick to the game they're testing like glue (like i did to Rift and Saga of Ryzom, as well as Everquest 2), but i never picked them up after the beta testing phase. This wasn't because they were good, but because i was working under contract, and had a privilieged and exclusive hands on access to pre-release material. I also beta-tested WoW, but i still bought it and played it, it was actually good.

This is why you don't use, and can't use beta testers to grade the rough lifetime of your game or the enjoyment of thereof. In a more "open", closed test, as in non-contract and invitational or raffle, you can, as even some who have their accounts in don't play it for the entire duration. Generally though, beta testers working under contract (on good companies, anyway) are asked of their opinions and suggestions on almost daily basis, sadly, BioWare's TOR development team doesn't do this.

It's very rigid, and beforeplanned, that being never a good sign in any game development lifetime. And there are other signs to point it as a relatively quick failure aswell. For one, to mention the fully CGI'd trailers for it, while they're eyecandy, they literally don't really tell anything of the game, and gameplay trailers are tucked somewhere deep and far away, as they look rather past-gen and rubbish, to be quite blunt (and they are). A good game markets itself with its gameplay.

Yup, Bioware has already stated that they're completing the development of expanded space combat i.e. more gameplay features, content, and non-tunneling for space combat is officially coming soon.

Not to mention the over payed celebrity commercials that was specially designed to overrated the game and get oblivious casual gamers into falsely believing that WoW is the only good/cool mmorpg out there. Oh yeah, just fyi, not all of the features and content for SWTOR has been released.... The tunnel version of space combat is merely the beginning, they have (and already stated) that space combat is going to be extended beyond the tunneling. In other words, use -

This was the best space combat I've ever seen in a game... I had so much fun as a rebel with my jedi starfighter, particularly because I had to defect to the empire and back to get it... haha. I hope they make SWTOR's space like this
