Wheimer2, I remember WKBR out of Buffalo too, Mass and Vt line, transistor radio to fall asleet each night, oh god how time has gone by, those were the days of good music.
"Was it because of the tears you cried when your little puppy died?" He'd be in sensitivity rehab if he used these lyrics today....LOL Great song, though.
akytilop you got it right. WKBW was a 50 kW AM station that phased their signal south after dark. I lived in Eastern WV and couldn't wait for this phasing. After going west to TX it was KOMA out of Oak City on 1520 AM, another 50 kW AM station that phased their signal north and south. As an electronic technician, I have a knowledge and have worked with antenna phasing. Never the less Johnny T. is one of my favorites. Thanks for posting.
I kinda forgot about Johnny, thx to youtube for the great posts and a bigger TY to you pvrocker56 for keeping J. T's songs alive. I was 11 when I first heard this and love it as much now as I did then.....
I clearly remember when I first heard this song: I was 15 years old and living in central Pennsylvania; we were sitting in a local park when this song was played by WKBW radio station out of Buffalo, New York. The melody has stayed with me ever since. Thanks for posting.
@akytilop wow. Me too, although I was 9 y.o. I used to listen to all those Am-night radio shows. WBZ,WOWO,WLAC,WABC,KDKA, WLS and many more I can't recall. Those were some great DJ's/great music/great times.
@wheimer2 Oh yeah..Buffalo and NYC. I didn't hear WINS much because of interference on the dial; but I listened to WKBW all the time. It was so cool going to sleep each night with my earplug into my transistor radio listening to these stations (static and all, and the fade in/ fade out).
50 years to when i was a 17year old i heard this first, funny how some tunes just stay in your mind, i first heard this on an old radio over at my grandmothers house, same place i heard a lot of music when i was growing up, now things have changed and the world has grown up, less innocent and more violent
C-Am_F-G never sounded better. This song reminds of a magical youth that I had.

My darlin' I have often thought of things we used to do,
And now I sit and wonder why you're gone and left me blue,
You said you'd never leave me, you said you'd never go,
Oh my darlin', why do I love you so?
Oh my darlin', why do I love you so
Is it because you stroked my hair when you were by my side?
Or is it because of the tears you cried when your little puppy died?
You said you'd never leave me, you said you'd never go,
Oh my darlin', why do I love you so?
