See "jump shot" in the FAQ section of my website (see the link in the video description). You can find lots of technique advice and video demos there.
Find out when the owner plans to change the cloth on the tables. He or she shouldn't mind you getting in lots of jumping practice the week before the change.
i'm a pool player as well as a snooker player so there is no way that pool is harder than snooker but you're stupid cuz obviously the pockets r bigger because the balls r bigger and it's not like snooker players stick their hand in to pick up the balls either, clearly just trying to start shit on youtube..lame
i cant do this jumpshot, i just can do a jumpshot where i hit the cueball if like i would do a bakcspin but i do not touch the surface of the pooltable
yes it is. if you hit the lower part of the ball to make it jump, it is considered a foul shot in most tournaments and pool halls. it is the "scooping" motion of the cue that causes the foul and not the cue's contact with the table, i think. this is because you'll either hit the ball 2x and/or the ball comes in contact with the shaft.
anyone can jump using a cheat stick! can you do it with your playing cue! jumpcues take away from great saftey play, as anyone can get the cueball up and down very fast with 1, and it takes away the skill of tru jumpers with their playing cue! please burn all jumpcues, unless you are a cheat, and dont want to learn the proper way!
Dr. Dave your book is amazing..keep up the good work....Knowing the basic science behind pool really helps one develop into a better/more conistent player....we all have questions..practice will answer them all.
I checked out your account. "This account is closed" I lol'd :D

You sound like a jumping "natural."

Works good enough

Thanks.
Practice, practice, practice ... the good kind (based on good information), not the bad kind (based on misinformation and trial and error).

the extra felt also makes the jump easier though....

Good point. The piece of cloth is great for practicing, expecially if you are new to jump shots.
