  • @MirrorPixie ORELY? I thought the sliding one of yours was awesome ;)

  • @CloudsDomain That was a test....... this is so depressingly good

  • Can I have this please? Its so better than mine.......

  • how can i get this model plz info?

  • @mrgiloz You can get this model for free for Autodesk Maya

  • @MirrorPixie where? is it already skinned and rigged?

  • This is also good for those who want to learn doing 3D animation :)

  • wow this s great. good job. my walk cycle is kinda stiff. You did a very good job. :O

  • all it needs now is that Bee Gee's theme Stayin' Alive

  • This is actually really helpful for people like me- have a spinal cord injury and are trying to learn how to walk again. After a while you kinda forget how you did it before....

  • @YoInJal thats the best youtube comment i have seen for a long while....

  • TEACH ME HOW TO WALKY TEACH ME TEACH ME HOW TO WALKY

  • Lokesh Patil WalkCycle

  • Wow. This is awesome!

  • Thumbs up if.

  • i believe i've seen this at a school somewhere before.... did you attend ex'pression by chance? i may be completely wrong here..

  • That guy has a 6-pack

  • this video taught me how to go to the store

  • L from death note have to learn it

  • i baised my walk off of this :)

  • How to cheat in maya tutorial.

  • @ronnydthechicken your right, i'm using the goon rig right now for a wee practise animation. It's a really good rig.

  • norman...norman...... :D :D

  • I like the slightly delayed head bob after the front step :)

  • love this.

  • very god.

  • The look on his face is just so, badass.

  • He looks like he's got a bit of a song in his head. :)

  • What program did you do?

  • great walk cycle!

  • WOW! cool! I'm trying to work on it, but.. shit!! corrupt!! hahaha

  • this might seem as a silly question, but could anyone tell me how to render all 3 walk cycle views, i.e. side, perspective and front all in one video..

  • @silvermoonshadow666 I don't think you can. DO them each individually and put it together in premiere pro or something.

  • @silvermoonshadow666 I'd try creating a group. Duplicating the group twice. Rotating one 45 degrees and the other 90. Throw on a black background and it should work.

  • @TheMatthias111

You'd have to do a bit more than that and by the sounds of it I don't think he know's how to render it wide enough.

  • @silvermoonshadow666 Just figured this out with my own work, open your scene, move your character off centre, and then merge in another copy of the same character, position this one in the centre. Repeat the process once more, and position this character to the right. Rotate them as desired; front view, three quarter and side view. Tried this in XSi and it seemed to work. All you have to do then is render the scene as a flipbook. This should work in Maya too.

  • fk or ik setup?

  • pretty hard to get it right! nice work man!

  • It is so well made that if you look below the character, you have the impression that there is a ground which moves

  • everything is ok! but just one tip!

move a little more those hips!

  • @Sincrol He has built this for a guy the hips wouldnt move any more then that. Any more and he would be giving off a female vibe.

  • Damn good animation :)

  • Alright the walking everything is good but whats up with the hand on the finger part not so sure if you should animate that.... I hope you understand where i am pointing

    I LOVE THE ANIMATION

  • from Disney Pixar Studios comes the new animated film "Walk"

  • Great job d00d. I love the finger animation you added. Every subtlety improves the realism.

  • haha, you meant norman walk cycle? Cuz that's what the rig is called, and I'm learnign animation too atm. It's preety good referance for the assignment I have.

    Thank You!

  • This must be a very relax, middle age person, probably a man, going on holidays or somewhere pleasant by the way the gait pattern looks like.

    great video, thank you

  • how do you get the orthographic view and perspective together. what software have u used?

  • Comment removed

  • I can see that you've put the walk cycle on infinity so it keeps walking til the end of the animation. what if you want to animate the hand waving in the 6th cycle and continue to the walk?

  • Comment removed

  • not a realistic human walk, but a great toon character walk

  • SO COOL, very natural!!!

  • Good job on the arms.

  • this is great, real fluid. theres only one thing i cant stop noticing. i feel like the hip rotation is about two frames ahead of where it should be. it gives me this weird feeling that when hes walking that his hips and waist are detached. i dont know, it could be only me, but i cant stop seeing it. great animation overall though.

  • @06murdog i see it too

  • this is so natural like a cartoon .....

    thumb up :)

  • i always wonder why people say that you walk wierd......... walking is just how you move at a comfortable pace....... no matter if you walk on your toes or whatever. i should know. lots of people say i walk weird just because i walk on my toes.

  • @MegaYugiohking what do you mean on your toes?

  • kinda where you walk with just your the front part of your foot.... it is kinda hard to explain....

  • @MegaYugiohking oh lol thats not that uncommon or weird. I think the weight shifting is important and hard to time consciously.

  • @MegaYugiohking hmmm...you could have had an injury to what is known as the "common fibular nerve" (also called the "common peroneal nerve"). I'm not saying what is "normal", but most people will dorsiflex their feet when they walk and roll their heel with each step. Do you have to lift your legs high and does it "slap" down with each step? Maybe you've had an injury to the side of your knee in the past? Only saying this b/c I've been studying (way too much) for my medical boards recently! :)

  • very fluid like

  • First 20 people who sub, send a message they subbed, will get 2 comments on 3 videos and thumbs up on 3 videos!

    DOnt you want subs?

  • Hey bro nice walk cycle, how did you playblast it in that view showing front and quarter and side view all at once, or did you use video editing.

  • @Rcrazie - I would do it in after effects, really easy, the black background once rendered out of maya, or whatever program he's using becomes the alpha channel, and then you just layer the three renders on top of each other. easy as pie. looks nice too.

  • @fast2ghl - When you say it like that it sounds soo east, but what whenver i render all 3 views in maya and layer them in after affects, they dont fit/ i have to stretch the videos to make them fit which will make the picture look all wierd.

What kind of settings do you have for your affter effect when you were importing your walk cycle.

    Much Thanks

  • talk about moon walk!

  • Nobody noticed the knee snapping when his leg goes back?

  • @Whistt Mine actually do that in real life, so i'd say this animation is spot on, or close to :)

  • @xxhellspawnedxx No, they don't, I guarantee it. Yes they straighten there...but they don't snap like that.

Here's the thing with animation, it's not realism. Do fingers really sway like that? No, they don't. But it looks pleasing and creates a nice flowing action.

That pop should not be there...actually there's 2 pops, one for stepping forward, and one for back. The root joint needs to be moved further up and down as he's walking or he needs to take smaller steps.

  • his fingers look like they're under water!~

    *O*

  • I have a problem! The background os my MAYA IS BLACK. Its usually gray. How do I fix it?

  • @ZombineProductions press Alt + B

  • damn good

  • Thats awesome mate :o) !!

  • good work......bouncing...overlaping...great!!!.

  • good work......

  • WOODY WITHOUT CLOTHES AHH!!!!

  • hee looks like woody from toy story

  • IDD! lol XD!

  • I like how he move their hands

    is a good cartoon style

  • Comment removed

  • nah !

  • favorited, for later reference.

actually this will come in veryyyyy handy

    thanks!

  • I'm been trying to do a walk cycle like that for a long time, and until today I can't.

  • Anyone can critique..... but few can create. Looks good.

  • @as31 Agreed.

  • Really smooth animation! I like how you hyperextended the elbow and did overlapping action with the wrists.

  • I think I am noticing a knee jitter on the left leg while the foot is on the ground.

  • Actually... Both knees pop.

  • wow !

  • Thumbs up if this Looks like Woody, from Toy Story.

  • It's a free rig. He didn't make that

Also your knees pop...you don't want that. Otherwise amazing job.

  • @InushiToo It's a Pixar rig based on Woody from Toy Story

  • @InushiToo i was thinking exactly the same when i saw the face =)

  • @InushiToo thumbs up if you need this in slow motion

  • @steve122288 for reals im trying to study this to make my walk cycle

  • great arcs man, congrats on your work,

  • Very nice and natural.

    great job!

  • Hey this is looking pretty good, your arms are too tight into the body, and they are coming across the body too much when they are in front of him. Your elbows are breaking on the way back too. you might want to propel the arms forward a little faster than they are currently. The give a sense of disconnectedness.

  • hey, i recently started using maya at school ( currently only at the point where I am learning how to sculp. texture and all that for backgrounds. )

How is it to actually animate in maya? I've animated in 2d for a while so I know the principle, but i have no idea how it actually done in maya :P

  • To animate in Maya, you move around these NURBS curves attached to your model (via the bones) and keyframe them like you do in Flash. It's a lot of fun, and if you know your 2d principles, you can easily apply it to 3d. Just find a model that has already been rigged, cause rigging might drive you insane!

  • maya + flash + after effects = kickass.

  • Nice walk. I think I would add just a little most twist to the hips and a little more of an up jolt on the hips as the weight is put on the leg. Also, if this is more of a "normal" walk, then the head is bobbing too much. I think it's tempting to add follow through on the head but we don't really walk like that. We'd be dizzy all the time. The muscles in our shoulders and neck help to counter the motion in the rest of our body. Other than that, nice job.

  • Love the hands =) I mean fingers =D

  • Thank you, finally

  • Wow

Did you use FK in Leg?

  • That's one of the best walkcycle I have ever seen !

I would be happy to integrate that character to Little Script Adventure

come see project videos on my canal

  • Love the follow through on the toe

  • So glad I watched this. thanks for the ref!

  • Nice walk man, be sure to watch the legs when they straighten out, there is some popping during extension, otherwise great work !

  • P.S. - Awesome demo reel. I really liked the paper snatch one.

  • I hate you so much

  • I think the word is "envy", and I agree.

This is awesome, and I wish I could do it...

  • nice! i'd like to see a top view as well, so i can see the hip movements too ^^

  • Nice :)

When I get stuck on something or totally frustated while learning animation, I watch work of students, then I feel refreshed and inspired!

  • you should check the knee, it tembles i had the same problem there must be a frame where the knee is straight in the next frame breaks and the next frame goes back to be straight, ^^

  • nice, but i think ur timing on the arm swing is off. ur arms swing counter to ur leg step.

    right foot forward=right arm back.

  • actually the timing of the arms is closer than you might think. In The Animators Survival Kit, Richard Williams talks about how the arm does not perfectly correspond to the motion of the opposite leg - rather it follows the motion shortly after as the character goes into the follow through dip.

  • I dont know your definition of normal ,but no one man in the world walk like that ....but nice CARTOON walk :)

  • ty so much, i'm working on my 3d char midterm right now, this is the perfect reference!

  • wow that's really good. i wish i could make a walk cycle like that, so smooth :)

  • great quality and flow.

  • Great, I love it. The weight so perfect that he just looks so cool and laid back, like he has just popped out for some milk.

    Fantastic animation.

  • can u export .bip of this motion ?

  • This video is a reference to me :)

  • I know how to make a walking cycle from the side, but I had no idea how to do it from the front. This is great! I'm using this as a reference to my project, if you don't mind.

  • Nice! Good flow and timming :)

  • very nice. i too hope you don't mind if i use this a reference as well. :P

  • Amazing! I hope you don't mind me using this as a reference for my own animation project. I will give credit at the end.

  • very accurate. great job

  • nice :)

  • Nice juxtaposition of the hips to the shoulders. and the legs are awesome, knees bend great.

  • nice finger flow.

  • I think your walkcycle is a great reference for beginner like me in 3D animation. Thanks!

  • very nice walkcycle :)

  • did you make that rig yourself? or was it given to you?

  • dude for every walkcycle i do, theres a wierd thing happenin with the arms, lets say i make it go from front to back, then it circles inside through the body, whyyy???

  • Try looking at your graph editor. It's an amazing thing, and is vital for good animation. :)

  • Nicely done! What rig was that?

  • That is the Norman rig.

  • that rig is unavailable to the general public, it belongs to the academy of arts apparently.

  • Just use The Low man Rig

  • Yeah, well done!

  • nice walkcyle. You did a great job
