I know I can never meet Koko but she epitomizes the bond that we humans can have with other animals. And I hate to use the term animal because the gorilla is as intelligent in their surroundings as we humans are in ours. They really are such gentle giants. She would love the 2 cats I have!

@rabbitphobia Oh my gosh, nooooo. Not true. I think the kitten's name might have been Smokey, or at least it was a gray kitty. When Penny came and told Koko the sad news, there is a video clip where Penny is outside's Koko's sleeping area and there are sobbing/crying sounds. I can't remember if the kitten was hit by a car - but I think that's what happened. A library might have the old video tape about Koko's life, including the kitten.

@RReederHunt The second cat Koko had was Smokey, who died at of natural old age, I believe. The kitten that got hit by the car was All Ball. So sad how Koko cries alone in her room when everyone is gone :(

Such a precious video. Mr. Fred Rogers was such a sweet and caring man. Koko is such a sweet and loving Gorilla. I love how they are almost snuggled together. He looks so tiny next to Koko. Thank you for sharing this video. How wonderful to be in the presence of such caring beings (all three).
