I'm new to horses. I take notes from you. You understand them and can explain them. But what you're explaining seems like natural common sense to me. When I meet a new horse, I don't grab and start petting. I give the horse time to check me out at his or her own pace. So far we always get along great. Your advice only helps me to better understand them.
So true.I dont understand how anyone can stall horses.Take the babies away from the moms etc.I JUST DONT GET IT!. It is a very sad reflection of human attempt at dominance.Thank God for people like you.Horses are horses.Dogs are dogs etc.It must affect you to see that shit.It would kill me to see that mom and baby in such a situation.
Hell yes! I agree with everything you said! I try to tell everyone that same thing to everyone! I let my lil orphan colt be a horse and my sisters horse adopted him he loves playing in the big pasture and meeting the neighbor horses!!!! Love your horses to they are beautiful!
People (women, LOL) can be SO ridiculous! I I LOVE your point of view....It's a shame so many horse folks are close minded.
I just used a blocker ring to teach a horse to stand tied ......( the owner whined about him pulling)....Then the owner had a fit when she saw her horse tied to a tree standing quietly......WTF? I took the time to train him, then she screamed...YOU CANT TIE HIM!!! HE PULLS BACK!!.......
I love using the room analogy(spelling), cus a 12x12 stall, to a horse, is the same as a human being locked in a closet 16 inches by 20 inches....makes people stop and think a little....
Aww I feel so sorry for the mum and baby u were talking about Rick. I can;t imagine been locked up with a kid I would certainlly go mad!! Next to our yard is a lady who rents a field she has 2 mares and a gelding and one mare just had a baby bout 2 months olkd now and its been great to watch it bonding with the herd, I notice they all take turns baby sitting! :-)
My barn manager was getting back from a trail ride on this young horse she was training, as she was passing I closed the car door, and she says, "You scared my horse." I say, "Isn't that good for bombproofing?" She says, "No, not right now." If not now when? It's really horrible when a barn owner thinks they know everything and you have to listen to thier crap and follow thier rules.Sorry I'm just venting.
@pennamb : better to vent here than around your horse or get kicked out. It is all about power, barn managers have the power to kick you out if you don't agree with them so they learn to think they must be right since no one disagrees with them. Bad cycle that always end up making horses pay.
Very great point in this vid. I enjoy all your vids even tho I don't have a horse.....YET. I am hoping to get one someday. Again nice work educating stupid people about horses. I'm subscribing. Keep up the good work man.
At 12:10 and beyond you make such a valid point, (all of it is) but - you would think, wouldn't you? It's not just horses, people do this to. But almost any animal that's bred for profit or whatever, tends to suffer this same fate. Horses are truly the best teachers, and the humans who learn from them, and not the other way around, are better for it. Thanks for this video. Lots of good stuff all throughout. =)
My sister in-law was keeping a mom and baby isolated because it wasn't hers and the baby was going to be race horse. He was so naughty and mom was so fed up. I lost sleep worrying about that day when he's two and someone shows him who's boss. He was naughty, but like all babies, just a sweet friendly baby that will have such a hard time in the future. Also, racing. :(
an informative video. thank you for the valuable info.

I think all the crap happens when horses become purely an investment rather than companions.
