Mixed-race look black often or look like light-skinned blacks but the difference is that they have a white parent whereas people who look mixed-race do not. So if it was all about the looks many could see themselves as mixed race even though they have two black parents.Look at Boris Kodjoe, he is mixed-race half German but looks like he is 100% black. His wife looks more mixed than him, almost white and she is afro-american with native american ancestors too.Its about the blood, not the looks

I don't understand why people can't respect American culture or our social labels but they expect us to respect theirs. I wouldn't go to Brazil and tell a 'morena' or 'preta' or a white Brazilian with obvious mixed heritage who chooses to call himself white, like Ronaldo, that he's not white. In Brazil, many people classify themselves as 'white' when they are really racially mixed. Many people in Southern Europe are generally agreed upon to be white, it's accepted in their culture, when really if you go back into their history they are mixed. So this 'reality' is subjective.
