anyhow getting back to football....this quote was shouted at Metropolitan Stadium and was directed at the defense. So even the Lombardi teams had troubles with the Vikings in Minnesota :)
@Regset Haha! You are so brainwashed you think the Democrats spending a trillion dollars in unpaid debt in the last seven months is the right path? The Tea Party says stop the deficit spending that ruined Greece and California and adopt what Pelosi promised fiscally in 2007, which you probably forgot, proving you are the true "idiot." What did she say? C'mon, you liberal piece of garbage! Liberal pukes like you should be jailed to save the USA. Liberals deserve a beating!
@JoeyFudd funny that the same people who fund and back this whole tea party movement are the same corporations that helped screw up america in the first place..now whos the brain washed ones now?..anyways this is a football video about vince lombardi..dont put him and those wackos in the same breath..take your politics somewhere else
@Regset OMG, you are so clueless -- reading talking points from Michael Moore and the Unions, it seems -- that you think the Tea Party movement was the result of top-down corporate funding? Get with it, man. It was the most true grass-roots bottom-up movement ever. I'm proof of it. You liberal pukes have such a warped view of the world, as you worship the corrupt Acorn and SEIU, your symbols. Amazing how braindead y'all are!
Vince Lombardi will always be in the class of one; all other football coaches may be rated from two on down. Apparently, poor vision kept him out of military service although this is hard to confirm. Still, he was the GOAT in his profession and there are few of those around.
@southparkfan2717 They've made a play recently, but there is supposed to be a Lombardi movie in the next few years starting Robert De Niro as Lombardi.
i swear ive said this phrase with his tone ever since i heard his say this line. I love it. Its like hes truly asking the question waiting for an answer
LOL he turned the Redskins around we sucked in the 50's and 60's and he gave us a winning record in 69(his only season in DC before he died). If Lombardi didn't die of cancer in 70 and stayed the coach I bet we win Super Bowl IIV because Lombardi would have started Sonny Jurgensen instead of Billy Kilmer who was a ok QB but did what Geroge Allen wanted which was hand the ball off all the time
I totally agree. If Lombardi was coach, Brown would not have had to carry the load and he would have used Harraway more in the running & passing game. Also, Lombardi would have better used All Pro tight end Jerry Smith. No disrepect to Allen, a great defensive mind, but one has to wonder what more seasons under Lombardi would have meant to the Washington Redskins. Even the uniforms were better under Lombardi and Allen than they are today.
I don't think the absence of Ringo prevented them from reaching the Championship Game. Ken Bowman was a solid center for many years afterwards. They still had a great team and won games.
In 64' they where 8-5-1 and in 65' they finished 1st with 10-3-1. Tied with the Colts but lost on the tie breaker. They then won three straight NFL Titles without Ringo. Lomabrdi was in Washington only for 1969. It was their first winning year since 1955. How did he start running them into the ground?
Please note, no headset or playchart. Bart Starr called the plays on offense, Ray Nitschke the plays on defense. Lombardi did his job during the week.
What I would'nt do to see a modern day hotdog the like of Owens and Sanders just try and pull there act on Lombardi. At best, he'd chew them in one end and spit them out the other.........not to mention cut them!!
Remember what he did to Jim Ringo? You and your agent can talk to the Eagles you have been traded to them. Negotiate a contract with them. Ringo was only an all pro center. It makes me wonder though.
Yes, of course, have read about that story.Could yo imagine...the coach negotiating the contracts. I believe it was Jim Grabowski who was advised to tell Lomabrdi he needed 24 hous to think about his offer when he negotiated with him.. Grabowski did'nt listen, he took it right away.
Yea. I know. Hey how far do you go back? I started in 1963. Man I am old. Have you seen the The Story of the Ice Bowl on You Tube? My comments are all over that thread. Great piece.
The way Lombardi he says that, the inflection in his voice comes right through the tv. screen. You know he's not kidding. Can you imagine anyone pouring a bucket of gatorade on him??
the same Forrest Greeg who was head coach of the browns before the kardiac kids era, head coach of the Bengals who almost won a super bowl and head coach of the pre Brett Farve packers?
Good job Vince. You truly won everywhere you went. You deserve every accolade that comes your way. Although you might have ruffled some feathers, you certainly had the history of winning to prove it anywhere. God Bless You Vince Lombardi!!!
Thanxx for completing that; we can only imagine how many S/B titles Vince would have won with the Redskins. Undoubtedly, they would have become "America's Team" first.

rygasewicz 2 years ago
Well, in today's game perhaps not. But I just would'nt want to get on Lomabardi's bad side, now or back then.
In the case of Lomabardi, it was HE who negotiated the players salary .
So, it does tend to put a little bit of a twist in whether or not you decide to listen.
