I have hit that spot numerous times for steelies. Literally a 5 minute walk from my house. If you go up about 1/4 mile to the clay banks the bit gets better.

the year that I shot this they were hitting literally 3 feet off the bank. everyone else was long casting to try to get them I just lobbed it out there a little. they were so close. I had never seen them so close before. It was a trip.

you are going to have to find out where to shad fish on your own. I had to do it, you are not gonna get the spots I learn about that easily. I do not want my fishing spots getting overrun. If you do find out where this spot is on your own then go for it but I wont be responsible for bleeding out a fishing spot like that.

@29travass they are all over the american river right now. try anywhere really. you should know as a fisherman that you don't give your spots away.

yesterday i got into a school of them. yeah it is still off and on they are moving in smaller schools right now it seems. when they are hitting every other cast is when they are more of a constant move through instead of the groups moving through.

i know exactly where this spot is at....one of my favorite spot............lol i was waiting for this spot but havent got out there yet because i was waiting till the weather get a little better and plus i wasnt sure if the run is there yet..now i do lol....i hook a couple of those ugly suckers too believe or not...

those suckers strip drag like crazy in the faster current (water is a bit higher than normal at this time of year because of the snow run off and the heavy rains we have been getting in the Sacramento/elk grove area
