  • 2:01 making that sax sound like a cuica

  • Absolutely a master! And there aren't a lot of players who seem to have heard him.

  • prettyWISEpretty

  • I love that thing he does when he sounds like a Cuica

  • Lacy can pull out such energy while still remaining cool and relaxed...he doesn´t have to go screaming; just few notes on right places can do so much...how does he do it so well remains a mystery.

  • I find that many live jazz videos in you tube can get a little boring this is one of the few that kept my attention til the last moment. Thank you for posting it..

  • Great Music!

I have the chance to play concerts with Steve Lacy, I miss him...

    Thanks a lot anthdb45

  • A true master of his craft

  • I remember really getting hooked in the early nineties on Lacy and thought that he was playing the future of the music in many respects. We have really lost a great integrator of jazz style and history. All comments on him being missed resonate on many levels. A great great musician and this performance only reinforces that.He knew how to pick collaborators too-Few, Potts etc.I got to see him only once and his performance of Shuffle Boil will stick in my mind and heart for the rest of my life.

  • the great Bobby Few...what a master

  • Fantastic! He is missed.

  • Does anyone have any more pieces from this concert? Is it available in a CD form somewhere?

  • Thanks for posting this great video. (Although, I could do without the lighting guys non stop flashing of the stage lights!)

  • Many times it seems as though the lights are reflecting the percussion (drum) portion of the movement with John Betsch. Acceptable if that is true.

  • We all miss him!

  • To feel where his blowing originates, check Steve's hips... natsy!

  • My God! - I have seen it a long time ago on TV in Poland. This is where I got fascinated with Steve. The first piece was "The Bath" and it got me hooked. So simple and so advanced at the same time. "Revenue" was and still is, hard for me to follow.

I loved the third piece (don't remember it's name) and "Prayer", especially the part, where Lacy played solo without accompaniament and straight into the piano.

    Wonderful music.

  • brilliant music from a master, sadly departed

  • free jazz phenomen!!!!Lacy is one of the free Gods

  • Yeah....great stuff.
