@toutagamon There's no such thing as drivers causing a bottleneck, Just lack of CPU power. I had 5850 Crossfire and when I moved to a 2500k my frame rates shot up in practically every game, Even that games that I thought wouldn't see an improvement,
Bad drivers can easily hold gpus from reaching their max. I've seen it many times in past.
Getting much better gpu performance with a faster cpu is also something very reasonable, but this one does not show such a handicap.
One of the cpu limits scenario, shows at least two cores being at 50% load, due to windows thread switching. This is not even close here. The cpu has much more juice to give.
@toutagamon Thats exactly what I thought before I upgraded, My 5850's clocked at 850Mhz in Crysis running Very high managed minimum of 38fps and an average of 55fps and my CPU was never maxing out any of the cores. My GPU usage was averaging around the 80% mark on each GPU in MSI Afterburner.
Moved to a 2500k and average rose to 60fps ( Not a big improvement tbh ) but the minimum rose to 48fps, A good 10fps extra performance. Both GPU's were locked at 99% throughout the entire benchmark.
Try telling that to someone that has not done a gazillion benchmarks on various configurations already.
As for BF3 and cpu usage..... /watch?v=ysZs5Tb4uEo#t=816s
Do yourself a favor and see the cpu usage at the end of this video and then re-read what I wrote. Try watching more carefully before opening your mouth next time.
Not really. I'll wait to see what Nvidia brings with their Keplers. I'd gladly get two of them if they were around 350, but AMD decided to blood suck all they could.
@dino17011
Good choice, even 5850 is faster than 6850 and every 5850 u can overclock to 1GHz/5GHz.

The 5870 is definitely better. Only 100$ though? wtf?

why you have the fan speed so low? do not see the cards burns? put at least to 50-60% to save 10 °C without too much noise...bb
mallolollo 1 month ago
@mallolollo
80C is not anywhere close to the card burning. GPUs are designed to cope with high temps.

You're CPU bottlenecked, Hence your 5850's aren't running at 99% load through out the demo.
almighty151986 1 month ago
@almighty151986
This demo is not cpu heavy at all. I am pretty sure this is a driver issue and/or an architecture bottleneck. This is a 7970 demo after all.

Can I ask you how you decrease the ram usage?Im always getting like 1.5gb without doing shit.
tOonisurfer 1 month ago
@tOonisurfer
Windows uses RAM for caching. If need be, it flushes what it does not need, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
