Hydraulic mining practices are banned in many places, this is obviously not one of those places. My main concern would be significant loss much of the color as the result of it watching down stream.
@rmueller58 It's not hydraulic mining, even that it may look like for a casual observer. The tailing, from the sluice box, end up in a large settling pond. Logically, I don't see the difference between adding water to a gravel pump or adding water to a "decent sized trommel". The difference is technical: the trommel will never break up clay as the gravel pump do. An important factor when working less than 150 MESH size gold particles; the bread & butter of the tropical alluvial deposits.
what is the exploration sampling technique? the link is broken/wrong...

Why not get a decent sized trommel instead?

Destructive? In less than 10 years you will be looking for the place and have hard time to find it.
It is not the strip mining but open pit mining on alluvial terraces. Sooner or later the river will "mine" this area.
Production pays for costs and leave enough to continue the next day... a way of life, but definitively not the way to become rich.
