@itsstyla@ssjpenguin : Whoa whoa. Hold up a huge second. I never said anything about Tennant. I think Tennant was brilliant - so was Eccleson, but the talk here is about Smith, and fortunately I understand that Doctor Who is about embracing change, and trying new things, so I don't hold on to old Doctors like a hormonally crazed fan girl. If Tennant could come back to the show - I'd welcome it with open arms, but FFS Matt is brilliant too so.. yeah.
@ManservantPablo Matt is okay, but the Doctor never die's he just changes and people find it hard to adapt to it because it's such a unique show. I welcomed Matt Smith as I did for Tennant and he does have his epic moments but Tennant's version of the Doctor was perfect, you could feel it when he was angry or sad. That is something Smith can't do as well.

But he doesnt die

@TheInspectorwho I don't understand why people would even think Matt is even par to David Tennant, David Tennant is a much better actor and played the doctor perfectly. Matt Smith is 8/10 and David Tennant is 10/10... You can't get better than David.
@acvdm1989 No, the fields of Trenzalore and the answering of the question is probably gonna be in the 2013 50th anniversary episode. He'll probably regenerate then.
@CPTTAYLOR592 Matt Smith Freaks out when he's mad 0.0
More in series 5. Tennant was alot calmer and when he was mad it was a very sublte, like rage was building up inside of him. Then in End Of Time he freaked.
@SSJPENGUIN No David's dark was built up in Waters of Mars and it had just that little bit left to go and then End of Time it ruined it all, Fuck RTD! Also if you re-watch and observe, Matt is a great, angry doctor
@DoctorEchts I think if it's advanced enough to shrink people and keep them like that it shouldn't have any problem with the light show that is regeneration.
@DoctorEchts Well, it did create a motorcycle out of it's legs and shot light from it's mouth in Let's Kill Hitler, so I think should be able to copy a regeneration, especially with the doctor controlling it.
@Wearewhatwebecome even if he wasn't always in it (i personally think he was but that's not the point) the second time they show it when he is for sure in it, it is still shown regerating. My theory is holograms
@stomyn You guys can believe in a robot that travels in time and can change into any shape - even generating vehicles like motor cycles and River Songs "crazy hair" but you cant believe it can throw out some fireworks? I am slowly losing faith in the Whovian audience the more I read comments like this.
I don't know anyone else, but just that little pice of music which plays when he starts to regenerate I LOVE!!! Its just so weird, and spacey, and awesome...
@MizzMadMoon I love the Guide <3 I'm on the fourth book right now. Have you read all five? I started the first book about two years ago and though I'm a fast reader, I kept getting distracted with other books and did not finished the first for about a year. I stopped reading them for a while, then whipped through two over last summer, and three at the beginning of the school year. Now, on to "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" XD
@MizzMadMoon The joke is even funnier if you know that Douglas Adams used to write for classic Doctor Who (three serials altogether) during Tom Baker's tenure as The Doctor.
hey..... i'm from germany and i can't watch doctor who or at least not the new seasons, since matt smith and now i am confused, Matt wasn't there for much longer than a year, right? so.. is he regenerating or not? is there going to be a new doctor or not? and.. is river his companion now?? ouh.. i hate i can't watch this!! D,: sooo.. could someone please answer me?? thanks... x
@MisTvIecHstyLeZ No, It's still Matt. This clip just stops right before he gets shot again and "dies", but he doesn't die. I can't explain any more because you haven't seen the episodes yet and that would ruin it for you.
River isn't his companion, that's Amy. But she does pop up a lot of times.
@Chrisindapurplehouse no what happened was this was 1 timeline that was intercepted by another that overlaps it making it possible for the doctor to change it by being tricky. in other words it isn't a fixed point in time.
@helljumper156 no, it was still a fixed point in time--but the fixed point wasn't the Doctor dying, it was the Doctor's teselecta dying. Time said he had to be on that beach, so he "dressed for the occation." He was in that robot suit when we first saw him die in the impossible astronaut. And you know, people were wondering from the beginning, they were saying "where's the 1100y.o. Doctor's TARDIS?" it was in the teselecta the whole time. The Doctor didn't trick time-he just tricked us :)
@Dstorm20xx SPOILERThe teselecta was present when Mels (River) regenerated. I'm guessing it scanned her and was later able to replicate the regeneration process when the Doctor needed it. After all, if it could duplicate a motorcycle, who's to say it couldn't duplicate regeneration? Of course, it wasn't REALLY regeneration, just some glowy special effects. Regeneration is a biological process, and this was clearly not, but in any event, the teselecta had the capabilities to duplicate the effects
the timey wimey problem was it was always the Teselecta (and River had always pretended to have killed the Doctor), but the Doctor didn't know it was the Teselecta and not him until he came up with the idea to do it that way
@TheInspectorwho Personally I found this a far more poignant goodbye and much more in-keeping with the Doctors character in general... Tennants goodbye felt a little bit too overblown which was a real tragedy because he was and still is such a tremendous actor - he could have done more with less, if you see what I mean.
@TheInspectorwho No, of course not. Matt had only one season prior to this- he's brilliant, don't get me wrong-, but Tennant had been in the series for 3 seasons, and he was amazing, more attached, so his regeneration was heart wrenching. I'm pretty solid when it comes to who I prefer when it comes to which Doctor is better, obviously Tennant and Chris, but Matt is making an impression. So this part kinda hit me. I was seriously just gaping at the screen confused and pretty sad. Great 6th season
@TriggerMisaGamerGirl I think he has beaten David in this scene because tennant say. i don't want to go and matt said i am sorry. he taking his regeration more than david. so i think matt beaten David but david is very good as the doctor and so is chris.
@CPTTAYLOR592 The reason why the 11th Doctor says 'I'm sorry', is because he's apologizing to his companions/friends, for having to watch him die. He's also saying it because he knows what they'll have to go through and also know what in the end he'll manage to live- so he apologizes for fooling them into thinking he's dead, and for having to watch. The 10th states that he doesn't want to go, rather the apologizing, because he's alone when he regenerates.
people should stop comparing doctor's 10 and 11 and just enjoy the show. also keep in mind every incarnation of the doctor is still the same person, some personality traits change, and the doctors character is always developing, but alot of his character traits stay the same.
@Chrisindapurplehouse They mention time can be re-written. So maybe the timeline changed and this doctor didn't choose to have the teselecta help him.
@SSJPENGUIN Well it can change it's shape, crap out a motorcycle, and put people into forcefield 'hell'.. you don't think it can do a particle light show as well?
@AlmightyPearHater Faking a regen is easy - light show! especially as the Teselecta had already witnessed a regeneration (Melody's). As for "fooling time", time says "the Doctor is on a beach, getting shot, apparently dying." The Doctor was on a beach, getting shot, and apparently dying. That he was actually inside a teselecta didn't matter.
@Chrisindapurplehouse Good point! That's bad a mistake that moffat's made I'd say. Although maybe it's just effects or something built into the teselecta. ;)
@Chrisindapurplehouse in the first episode the Doctor may have actually died, but because he learned of his death he was able to use the Teselecta when the present Doctor was to die. it was most likely staged to maintain the fixed point in time that was the 'Doctors' death.
Compared to imitating a working motorcycle with rider attached, it does not seem dificult to simulate orange streams of light.
@Chrisindapurplehouse its a time traveling morphing spaceship with tiny people inside of it. i think they could make some pretty lights if they wanted too
@Chrisindapurplehouse probably because for the second time he died he was in the teselecta but the first (this one) he didn't...... or because its a robot and it makes pretty lights
@Chrisindapurplehouse Hey, the thing built itself a motorcycle out of nowhere and can imprison people in energy with seemingly no effort. I have a feeling that some glowing energy output isn't anything difficult for it.
That, or perhaps it's just -that- good at emulating the original person that it copied.
@Chrisindapurplehouse The doctor went in knowing what would happen. That he would not have thought that he needed to fake the regeneration, and a way to do it, that would have been the real What The Hell? moment.
@Chrisindapurplehouse It isn't. Its mimicking everything that the Doctor is. Its probably powerful enough to create a form of particles to look like a regeneration
It saw Amy, it became Amy. It had a guy on a motorboke, it became that. It saw Mels regenerating so when it looked lik the Doctor, it could pull off a convincing regeneration visual.
@Chrisindapurplehouse I thought the same thing, but in the end put it down to the fact that the Teselecta is at the end of the day a transformer that can mimic anything (including a motorcycle) and if it is that advanced it is nothing for them to mimic the look of the Doctor regenerating by carefully expelling gases to make it look authentic.... yep I'm a nerd with too much time to think about this stuff :P
naaahhh always been david for me. i like his converses thing and i first started watching it during david's times and i grew up watching him as the doctor. Some of the most memorable episodes have been with david. i loveeeeddd the whole bad wolf thing, weeping angels, billie piper getting stuck in a parallel universe thing. i dont think this season has been that good, i already guessed what was gonna happen within ten mins of tonighes show, i guess i just get used to matt and learn to like him.
he be back????? ha i have ? could be TOM BAKE-i like his jelly baby candy in the bag.you cant help the world with out your jelly too.to bad the other Dr.did not a good jokes.- he was the best .in the70s
He regenerates, get's shot while regenerating, that is why this scene is so horrible to watch at for me. because i can't life in a world without doctor who on telly
@KingLofiOne I must have missed that part, regardless, no I am not fully over tennant leaving, in my ipinion he was better than matt smith, but I have grown to like matt smith in s6 so maybe now I am over tennant leaving. :)
@F12Y14N25 It's in the deleted scene between Parting of the Ways and The Christmas Invasion. Look for "Doctor Who Children in Need 2005" here on Youtube.
At first I was convinced it couldn't be River in that suit. She would have remembered killing the Doctor, being a version of River that escaped from jail, therefore must remember why she was incarcerated there (for killing a good man, as the Bishop said). But now the Teselecta clearly says River kills the Doctor and the Doctor only dies once at Lake Silencio 2011. So we have two universe-defining events: The Doctor dies. And River kills the Doctor. Both are IMPOSSIBLE. Yet can't NOT happen.

riversong switched places with the doctor the doctor that got shot wasnt the doctor it was riversong posing as the doctor the real doctor was in the spacesuit it was all a trick to fool the silence and whoever they work for. thats my theory.
I don't think it's River that kills him. Here's why:
River didn't want to kill the doctor when she grew up, only when she was a kid. (You get what I mean by "Kid")
If she had killed him when she was a kid, she would have remembered that, and she wouldn't have shot at the astronaut as it was going into the water, because it would then change all of time, and she would never done all the things she did when she grew up.
i think all the doctors are cool in their own way ..except the 9th idk i just dont like him i try to but i cant

Why can the teselecta regenerate?
Chrisindapurplehouse 4 months ago 45
@Chrisindapurplehouse
Maybe it's fake?
SSJPENGUIN 4 months ago
@SSJPENGUIN Yeah I'm thinking it might be a hologram the teselecta can project
Chrisindapurplehouse 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse They mention time can be re-written. So maybe the timeline changed and this doctor didn't choose to have the teselecta help him.
lavoaster 4 months ago
@SSJPENGUIN the teselecta didnt regenerate though did it? In the final episode i mean, I'm thinking he just went along and changed the event as well.
MaesMust 4 months ago
@SSJPENGUIN Very good point. I thought that myself. I think mr moffat may have forgotton to tie that loose end up!
littleandlarge06 4 months ago
@SSJPENGUIN Well it can change it's shape, crap out a motorcycle, and put people into forcefield 'hell'.. you don't think it can do a particle light show as well?
JaytheOstrich 4 months ago
@SSJPENGUIN But how could it be so complex that it can fake a regeneration? And how did it 'fool time' !??!?!?!? Makes no sence.
AlmightyPearHater 4 months ago
@AlmightyPearHater Faking a regen is easy - light show! especially as the Teselecta had already witnessed a regeneration (Melody's). As for "fooling time", time says "the Doctor is on a beach, getting shot, apparently dying." The Doctor was on a beach, getting shot, and apparently dying. That he was actually inside a teselecta didn't matter.
jedr1989 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse no, that is the doctor, but then he made it the teselcta
hulmedogcity 4 months ago
@hulmedogcity I think the teselecta can simulate regeneration so it looks convincing
Chrisindapurplehouse 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse
Well, it can shapeshift... Maybe it shifted its shape to mimic a regeneration or something? I dunno... thats my theory anyway...
ozzy1181 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse Good point! That's bad a mistake that moffat's made I'd say. Although maybe it's just effects or something built into the teselecta. ;)
pupbenny 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse It's not actually regenerating. Just faking it. It fakes everything.
mowingthefrontlawn 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse Holograms? Perception filter? Imaging equipment? Sonic Screwdriver?
42Wonko42 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse in the first episode the Doctor may have actually died, but because he learned of his death he was able to use the Teselecta when the present Doctor was to die. it was most likely staged to maintain the fixed point in time that was the 'Doctors' death.
Compared to imitating a working motorcycle with rider attached, it does not seem dificult to simulate orange streams of light.
Jkouw 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse It can use it's records probaly to recreate it but I don't really know :S

TheDoctorwhotardis99 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse OMG, ur totally right, i was thinking that.!, but as SSJPENGUIN said. the teselcta is very clever, maybe it is fake!
TheBigBongProduction 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse its a time traveling morphing spaceship with tiny people inside of it. i think they could make some pretty lights if they wanted too
murdermaniac018 4 months ago 3
@Chrisindapurplehouse probably because for the second time he died he was in the teselecta but the first (this one) he didn't...... or because its a robot and it makes pretty lights
TheAmazingAuthor 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse The teselecta can't regenerate, but it can create effects to simulate it.
footiebloke 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse Hey, the thing built itself a motorcycle out of nowhere and can imprison people in energy with seemingly no effort. I have a feeling that some glowing energy output isn't anything difficult for it.
That, or perhaps it's just -that- good at emulating the original person that it copied.
MadFernWithABox 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse The doctor went in knowing what would happen. That he would not have thought that he needed to fake the regeneration, and a way to do it, that would have been the real What The Hell? moment.
SebastienPatriote 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse Because Moffat is god, so it can just happen.
NekoTheMonster1616 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse It can't.
But what it CAN do is mimic apparances ;)
Contevent 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse It isn't. Its mimicking everything that the Doctor is. Its probably powerful enough to create a form of particles to look like a regeneration
TheSwarmOfDaleks 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse It can't. It;s able to replicate any VISUAL thing it sees.
It saw Amy, it became Amy. It had a guy on a motorboke, it became that. It saw Mels regenerating so when it looked lik the Doctor, it could pull off a convincing regeneration visual.
andyot7777 4 months ago

syntez109 4 months ago
@Chrisindapurplehouse My Girlfriend asked me that and I was just like "It's a TV Show". lol
germanchap 4 months ago

F12Y14N25 5 months ago
@F12Y14N25 "Yay regenerate back to Tennant" WTF?! Someone's still not over Ten leaving?
The 10th Doctor, shortly after his regeneration, even admitted that he could not change back, ever:
Rose: "Can you change back?"
Ten: "Do you want me to?"
Rose: "Well, can you?"
Ten: "No."
KingLofiOne 5 months ago
@KingLofiOne I must have missed that part, regardless, no I am not fully over tennant leaving, in my ipinion he was better than matt smith, but I have grown to like matt smith in s6 so maybe now I am over tennant leaving. :)

Chris was such a great actor for the role of the Doctor. He was terrific. Fantastic.
Yet I've read John Barrowman say he was grumpy. He couldn't get on with producers and that's why he stopped after one season.
Barrowman even said Tennant is hís Doctor. Behind the scenes you can tell they really had a blast. Just loads of fun and laughs.
And you can see the same chemistry between Matt and Karen (and Arthur). Awesome chemistry.

TeamClara 5 months ago
I don't think it's River that kills him. Here's why:
River didn't want to kill the doctor when she grew up, only when she was a kid. (You get what I mean by "Kid")
If she had killed him when she was a kid, she would have remembered that, and she wouldn't have shot at the astronaut as it was going into the water, because it would then change all of time, and she would never done all the things she did when she grew up.
What do you guys think?
