Actually the Genesis 3 does exist. Search for it on InecomCompany channel. He does a review of it. And to answer your question the Genesis 3 was the most basic Genesis there was. You couldn't connect the 32x or the Sega CD to it.
i prefer old games than the newones. I have 2 ZX specs Genesis Master system PS1 Binatone (pong and other games) Each one has loads of games. One big reason why i play them is because for £40.00 i can get a game for the 360 or ps3 but for the same price on amazon i can by millions of games. It's true about that plastic it's made from. You could throw it across a parking lot and it would still be in one piece. (I never did that lol)My cartridges still work great. I kind of think it sucks that everything is discs now. Cartridges just seem a lot more durable. My brother says they make them out of CD's because it's cheaper.
When SEGA returns to the console market with a 256-bit game console that will blow the 360,Wii, and PS3 away we will see the return of these types of ads. Mark my words.
I love the old sega games but as much as i hate to admit it nintendo has them by the balls especially after the release of the wii, i hope sega gets back on its feet but it would have to be pretty creative to think of something new.

I'm failry confident that there ARE several things that haven't been tried yet such as PC game compatitbity, a 256-bit CPU,USB flash drives as memory cards, HD-DVD used as a next gen format(yes I know blu Ray is outdoing it, but think about no console manufacturer has tried it out yet. (especially since HD-DVD is doing well in Japan)
All games these days are starting to have better graphics than the real world, yes i know that may sound silly but its true, if you like long adventure games the producers may have to cut the graphics down ever soo slightly to make space in the roms but reading your comment it sounds to me that you really know your games, what kind of game do you prefer the graphics or the gameplay?
so let me get this strait... you can use a sonic2 box as a kitchen utensil?... AWESOME!
