I forgot the actual name of the animal in 0:53, but they actually have a really weird, thin, long, creepy "finger" that they use for stuffs like tapping on the sides of a tree to see if there are any vibrations if there are then there's food inside (e.g. worms and other insects) and to get the food they first have to make a small hole using their nails and teeth and then use that "finger" to reach-in those hard to reach areas to find the food then stab them (like a fork) with it and eat it!

That's a sloth. And sid from ice age is a ground sloth, which in reality were huge, but sid's appearance is based on modern sloths

Modern sloths' eyes are pretty wideset (there's some variation in between the different species of sloth), so I think sid's appearance was just an exaggeration of that. The real Megalonyx didn't look like him at all. They looked more like giant, freakish beaver/bears. Do a google search for "Giant Ground Sloth" and then one for just "sloth".
