  • that's messed up :/

  • Folks, I have a brother who was many times committed to mental institutions and care homes. Before, he had too much freedom at our home. He abused his freedom with drunkenness, excessive violence, abusive behaviour toward my aged parents who were no longer unable for him. Many times, he promised good behaviour and broke his words as always. Then last year, out of rage, he attempted to kill my mother - a second time. Since then, he'd been put away. He is now in Community Care home, a homely type.

  • Mental hosptials are nothing but a legal way to torture people. The modern day Asylums.

  • kind of like bull riding is just a legal way to abuse animals. The world is a freaked out place.

  • oh, me too please :)

  • i stayes there once and i found it scary as hell

  • Many of them are all the time making excuses for their laziness. There is simply no excuse. I gathered that some, not all, are very ignorant about menal illness. All they have to is to sit down and talk with the patients rather than look down their noses at the patients. They really couldn't understand why patients pacing in the hall. I reminded them that they can leave when they wish, the patients are not allowed to leave the ward unless it is treatment mall, food , smoke or other appt.

  • There were beatings on that same ward. One patient will get to finally prosecute the HCTs that beat him in the seclusion room. They are just now doing something after it was brought up in an investigative report from news and observer. Just reminds of something I have heard in a song, "If these walls could talk, imagine what they would say?". So many stories inside thos thick walls, thick window screens, and lock doors.

  • There many more F'd up stories about my stay in that place, but I'd be here typing all day.

  • U2 3 East...just noticed, That is the same ward I was in. The staff there is SLACK. My first night there, I awoke in the middle of the night to find a large black man wearing nothing but an adult diaper standing over me, apparently trying to talk to me but all it sounded like was incoherent mumbling. I lead him back to his room and took him his blanket and his two diapers that he left in my room. The nurse saw this happen but she was too busy watching apathetically from the nurse's station.

  • Shit, that sounds pretty scary. How can anyone get sleep in that environment? Let me guess the nurse was eating chips and probably playing on the computer. The workers say that patients end up sleeping in the day room b/c it is safer and some are too drugged to walk to their rooms. At the same time they state that they can't give enough drugs. They allowed a man to sit in the day room for 22 hours without any food or water. They payed cards and danced while he was suffering. Just sickening.

  • Yep, most of the staff is more fit to be working at Walmart than a mental institution. There is nothing to do there except sleep or pace the halls. The patients get no exercise at all, everybody just lays around like zombies. The staff (most, not all of them) are completely apathetic and treat the patients as if their illness is their own fault. Very sickening indeed.

  • very sad. many canadian hospitals like this have an occupational therapy dept. where people take them out for coffee, ice cream, shops or what have you... even play base ball. ones who can go out of course, but still. is this a locked unit? it is just terrible. the staff are pathetic.

  • What is actually behind that glass window? Is this the infamous nurses station which is strictly guarded from the patients. It is like trying to breach enemy lines. I read that one patient refused to leave from the nurses station station and they dog piled on him breaking his leg. Those idiots didn't realize that his leg was broken even though the man was in obvious pain. They only realized it the next day. Morons!

  • just got back from a 5 day stay at this place, not a pleasant experience.

  • I feel bad for anyone who is forced to spend one minute in that place. I have been readind some really bad stories about what goes on behind those locked doors. It is like WWIII in there and no one is safe. The fecked up thing is that the stories I read come from the workers. When violence occurs against patients, the workers try to coach them to say that they fell. They imtimidate the patients and other workers from speaking out. Well, That is all about to change very soon.

  • Cherry Hospital is hell. After coming back, I have enormous sympathy for people stuck in these places. I made a video as a tribute to all the people who have been abused and neglected in mental institutions. If you would like to view it, just go to my profile click on the video titled "Mental hospitals".

  • The floating boxes are really cracking me up! I am thinking of the song, thorazine shuffle by Government Mule.

  • i cant belive this shit on u tube it was just on the news lik 5 min ago

  • Perkele! It would have been funny if the patient would have let go of the shirt. Then the psychiatrist would fell on his arse! It was just a t shirt. The aggresive responce from the psychiatrist was uncalled for. Then again after reading the articles in the news observer, mental health special report, I am not suprised.

  • Dr. Has no business touching patient. The patient at the time calmed down, until the Dr. came out and showed lack of patience. People need to be aware at the kinds of people that are taking care of our family members at cherry. And most of the time family is not notified. Always check your family members there. Some staff are good but unfortunatly the Dr's, don't fit that same catagory. This Dr. is still working there with no reprimand.

  • @bchbabeRN Such abuse is wide spread and common place especially in children's psychiatric wards, especially for children of unfit or abusive parents.

  • @bchbabeRN, damn hospital! Where is it, in America? As I live in another country, could you give me more details about this despicable hospital?
