Never knew The Searchers did this song. Saw Bobby Bare on T.V. do this when I was young. Great cover of this song.Glad to see the Searchers are still around.
The Searchers are great but miss the main man,Mike pender. If you get the chance go and see 'Mike Penders serachers' really great authentic searchers sound.
Searchers do a show for me every Christams. Always play this. We got them to bring the song back in 1980 when Mike Pender was doing the vocals. Great song, great band.
Every time you see the Searchers its a fresh experience ....year after year every new venue just the greatest band ever. Alan and Chris Wolverhampton.
@legendofthewest ...And Neil young was first influenced to cover this song when he herd it back in the day on a juke box and couldn't get enough of it! That version was the country classic performed by Bobby Bare.
You don't know what you're missing until you actually see these guys live - Shame the vid doesn't reflect what we saw F.19.10.07 in Morecambe, Lancs. FANTASTIC lads & great to talk to also.
You really need to see the Searchers sing this live to hear it properly because YouTube isn't showing it at it's best especially as it's probably been picked up by a camera and it won't be picking up the sound properly from all the speakers!!
Sheena13col... That's probably because they're not the drummer's normal drum kit he uses as it's probably not worth taking his own drum kit to the States as it's not as easy as taking three or four guitars!
I want this video on my OT-V270 unit.

have to disagree, Ian Tyson's rendition is far better......In fact Tyson wrote the song.

Right , Neil Young was made to write this song if he was just born 5 years earlier.
Neil also loved "they called the wind Miriah" by Frankie Lane.
Even as a kid Neil had good tastes.

written by originally performed by Ian Tyson - FROM ALBERTA, not Neil Young, though Neil's version is best.

I can't see difference between this version and the "old". Of course the line up of the "old" was much better than this.

This is the best setup of The Searchers ever.

Apart from drums being a bit out of place (imho), i think i like this version better than the "old" one (from the 60s).
