My mama had one of these, until it just up and died one day shortly after the warranty was up. It was noisy and an absolute NIGHTMARE to clean. And the worst part is for all of that, it cost more and didn't do any better job than my Sharper Image or Ionic Pro. My Sharper Image ionic air cleaner actually survived being submerged for 6-7 hours by Katrina! Dried it out, plugged it in and it worked....and S.I. even replaced it. Now imagine Oreck doing THAT.

I appreciate your story and thanks for sharing. The ionic is good for smoke and odor, not too good at dust, hair or pollen. Make sure you get fresh air with it too- as the Ionic machines with big plates produce Ozone which can damage your airways.

@AirPurifierReview Thanks for the information about the ozone, I didn't know about it damaging airways. I used one in the FEMA camper I was in for nearly 5 years since Katrina to reduce the formaldehyde doing the same damage, but thankfully I have an ozone attachment on it. Now I'm in my house and it's in a MUCH larger area. Of course, most dog cages are bigger than that FEMA camper ~ lol I also use salt lamps, but mostly because they're so pretty. ;)
