Fucking amazing! Doesn't get as good as that these days, huh?

I really love it! Thanks for posting it!

  • yeah genial

  • Spelled Siouxsie.

  • In her very first show at the 100 Club, she spelled it "Suzie". The original flyer shown at 0:37 simply reflects this.

  • wow intense.great

  • Wow, what a sound!! And YOU, again, FunkRoll, damn.

  • Btw....Kleenex/Liliput and Poison Girls are my favorite of the bands that I've learned about through your videos, hence why I wanted to comment on this video. ;)

  • funknroll, you've had a big impact on my musical life the past year and a half when I first discovered your videos. I host an all female radio show and I can't tell you how valuable your info and videos have been to collecting music for my show. I never was able to comment on myspace before. Again, you rule!

  • I've got this single. The b-side is cool too, but a completely different sound. "When the Cat's Away" LiLiPuT is out on cd. Cool. :)

  • one thing i like about the punk music scene is the band names. my friend beez and i get hammered, listen to music and see who can come up with catchy band names.

  • cool song!

  • Somebody's got talent x]

  • great song

  • 'Suzie and the Banshees' (France); Its called Siouxsie and the Banshees, and they're from the UK. Please get your facts right....Thank you.

And Siouxsie was a prominent punk figure before, becoming Postpunk/Goth.

  • The essay was referring to the band Stinky Toys as being from France. They were on the same bill at the 100 Club that night when Siouxsiee premiered under the spelling "Suzie and the Banshees" (that's the actual original flier in the video).

And not to worry, I also covered Siouxsiee in the Punk prequel video, "X-RAY SPEX 'The Day The World Turned Day-Glo' (1978)". Thanks for you input.

  • by the way cherry red are doing some rereleases relevant here...the passions just recently, and the mo-dettes soon. don't know what all else they have up their sleeves...

  • Yes, Cherry Red is going to be more interesting with the new releases and re-issues!!!

  • so, pray tell, what are the gang of four doing mixed in with this lot???????

  • This is a PostPunk herstory, and bassist Sara Lee is part of it.

  • so solly, i guess i had stopped paying attention by the time she joined! i remember the gang as all guys...thanks for the tip!

  • mfg this awesom, can some one plz send me a link to others videos i cant find more...

  • you know in the link it shows you were to buy it

  • Ja JA jA -

dat is noch sound ... Klasse ... danke - für den post

  • Nice, I've never heard this Liliput song before. My favorite that I have heard is DC-10

  • I bought this single at Greville Records in Prahran in about 1892 I think. Excellent stuff. This whole You Tube and not having to rely on memory anymore.......I think I like it but I'm not sure.

  • PUNKS NOT DEAD ITS SPREADING

  • ... spreading? ... in reverse then, right? ;p

  • gotta love punk

  • Diese Liliput Singles waren soo geil. Schön, mal wieder was davon zu hören.

  • Do you have that 1979 song by the Mo-Dettes,

    "White Mice",it's about mashochistic

    opposites or something...

  • i love knowing the modettes are not forgotten. i saw them perform at the whiskey a go go many years ago. what a blast to find this vid !! i still have 45rpm of modettes doing "white mice" and the stones "paint it black" a really really great band !! thanks for posting it you made my day

  • Thank you for this!!

I had forgotten what a great time that was...and I'm happy that I could be a part of it all and get a good take on what music is really about.

    Thank you again! :-)

  • Excellent, thanks. Love some of these, some still to explore. Cheers.

  • I love old punk ! It's awesome. This music died with end of 70'. Too bad :((. I wanna live in 70' and can go to the Roxy Club and 100 Club.

  • Primal old-old-skool femme-punk. Excellent stuff, thanks!

  • :D!!

  • Was Lesley Woods of Au Pairs in there? Saw them warm up for Gang of Four - amazing.

  • giants of punks...i kill for kleenex/liliput

  • This is a history in multiple video parts:

70s Punk=X-RAY SPEX -"The Day the World Turned Day-Glo" (1978)

    80s Punk 1=KLEENEX -"Krimi/ You" (1979)

    80s Punk 2=TOZIBABE -"Moja Praznina/ Lutke" (1985)

    80s PostPunk=LiLiPUT "Eisiger Wind" (1981)

New Wave 1=THE DOLL -"Trash" (1978)

New Wave 2=FAMILY FODDER "Debbie Harry" (1980)

  • That's great.

Don't s'pose you've got a copy of "Boozy Creed" by the Stinky Toys?

  • absolutely LOVE Liliput. Raw sound of the era,,God I miss those days. Any vids of them in concert anywhere?

  • Oh yeah.... THE ADULT NET & PENETRATION...

    (-;

Come to think of it, I saw Xmal live in Madrid in 1984, at a strange little Theatre, and there was no support band. Good gig though.

The Shop Assistants were frighteningly good. "Safety Net" ! They deserved more recognition than they got. They had really deep lyrics as well. Never saw them live )-:

  • THE SHOP ASSISTANTS !!

  • Oh yeah, I used to love The Shop Assistants.

  • This history is in multiple parts. Punk 70s video = "X-RAY SPEX -DAY THE WORLD TURNED DAY-GLO". Late 70s-early 80's PostPunk = "LiLiPUT -EISIGER WIND". 80s Punk= "KLEENEX- KRIMI/YOU". New Wave and others will follow. Check them all out and send me suggestions at my Channel, I'd appreciate it!

  • ...and The Raincoats, if you please.. how could you miss them?

  • No to worry. They're in the 70's Punk history, "X-Ray Spex -The Day the World Turned Day-Glo".

  • oh ok thanks :)

  • & Lets not forget Xmal Deutschland, Action Pact & The Mekons (-;

  • Thanks for the input; XMAL and PACT made it into the new Punk 80's video, "KLEENEX -KRIMI/YOU (1979)," thanks to you!

  • I actually knew the girl from ACTION PACT - I went to school with her in Ashford Middlesex.

WE'VE GOT A FUZZBOX were also a good 80's Indie girl band. They sold old a little in the end, but their first records were great.

  • Thanks! I'm making a handful of sequel videos for the 80's. The Passions will be in one covering New Wave/ PostPunk/ Indie Rock.

  • Great job! Cool to here some LiliPUT too. 5*****'s, as usual.

    ~ Tim

  • Excelente compilación!!!

    :)

  • sounds like Eighth Day by Hazel o' Connor - the slow song is probably Will You - hope these are the ones you were thinking of

  • villero,

  • Thanks for uploading this vid, funknroll, a good tribute to female artists in Rock and the best female band of the late '70s Punk scene. Now it's time for an actual vid of the band from back in the day.

  • There used to be an excellent video up for "Die Matrosen", with footage of LiliPUT on tour. Hopefully it will come back. Thanks for the support!

  • "There used to be an excellent video up for "Die Matrosen", with footage of LiliPUT on tour. Hopefully it will come back. Thanks for the support!"

Thanks, look forward to seeing that one.

  • Thanks so much for this...

all my idols in one video.

  • id like kleenex singing dont you.ace.

  • Thank you very much, I discovered A LOT of bands thanks to you.

  • I used to have Dark Park Creeping by The Modettes.Class single.Wish i could get it now !

  • I have the original White Mice on 45( great song). I remember the day I bought it, the day of its release. Must be worth something now. The B side is Masochistic Opposite.

  • ...nice...

  • I found this song a couple of days ago, and now i'm totally addicted!! <3 Where can i find more from this band? It doesen't seem that theres anything here on YouTube?

  • nice job.....on the third installment please add: Hans-A-Plast, Look Blue Go Purple, the Bodysnatchers, Johanna Went, Rose McDowall, Dolly Mixture (!), Go-Go's, Mad Dog (of the '70s/'80s LA Punk scene), Dead Famous People, Marine Girls! keep up the good work.....

  • Ah, these are brilliant suggestions! I'm working out those next installments now, which may be two or three more videos, to cover the 80's. Thanks so much for the input.

  • Hven't heard this in years! This song, along with White Mice by the Modettes, were my faves in 80/81. Thanks for posting it!

  • Do u have any videos of the slits?

PLus: I love how u have differnt kinds of videos. Donna summer, X-Ray spex, the selecters, the slits, Tina Turner....well and the video of the pics of Peggy Moffit: great!

Plz Make more. Im 14 and think music is crap nowadays and seeing all ur videos r enjoyable.

  • awesome traditional 80s punk/goth my role model

  • saludos desde buenos aires,argentina!

  • Great montage. Yeah, where's Lydia Lunch. Also What about Kate Bush, The Raincoats, Exene, Danielle Dax, Anna Domino, Diamanda Galas and the coolest of them all Chrissie Hynde?

  • Cool stuff, but where is Lydia Lunch?

  • She's in the prequel, 'X-RAY SPEX -THE DAY THE WORLD TURNED DAY-GLO' video. There are more Punk and PostPunk women in that one, as well.

  • Cool. I think you would enjoy adding the enchanted star "Demona Bast" to your collection. Check her out she's awesome!

  • Closing with a shot of Laurie Anderson. Very cool. I'll second pinholedstars' vote for Jarboe.

  • I'm making lists for new videos with the artists all of you are suggesting. Thanks for the input, everybody!

  • sehr gut!! sowas gibt's leider nicht mehr

  • WOW.......... GREAT.....

  • hahaah nevermind sorry about that

  • whats this song called?

  • Suzie? and the Banshees France? Wrong. They were Siouxsie and the Banshees from England.

  • Actually, I wrote that Stinky Toys were from France. They played at the first all Punk show at the 100 Club in London, where I mentioned the new group, "Suzie and the Banshees" also made their debut. Afterward, Siouxsie changed her spelling.

  • Oh. cool thanks

  • oooh Lilliput...looooved this band, had all their singles - Kleenex too. wooo wooo.

  • cool. what about Swans' Jarboe?

  • joder que banda...que canción...!!!

  • swizzpunk rulez!

  • loveeee liliput

  • All good but I must give a shout out for Teenage

Jesus and the Jerks, Pearl Harbour and the Explosions and Strawberry Switchblade.

  • Ah, great to see Cosey mentioned. :)

  • Someone has to give credit to the band here! This song is not by Lene Lovich, nor Nina Hagen, or Siouxsie Sioux: it's by LILIPUT, from Switzerland, c.1980. What a great band!!

  • The best way to learn more about this great band and about PostPunk is to read the essay under "More Info", to your right...

  • Siouxsie Sioux fans might also enjoy the video "ENNIO MORRICONE/EDDA DELL'ORSO -MA NON TROPPO EROTICO"; it showcases the 1960's anti-model, Peggy Moffitt, who could almost be Siouxsie's big sister!

  • yes, lene is the best... after nina...of course!!!!!...hey!!!and beatiful & interesting mix of photos!!!merci!!!!

  • LENE LOVICH .....THE BEST.....

    :)
