Actually it is coming to broadway, but they are changing MANY things before it comes, so they can please the crowd. Which I guess is cool. I think everyone goes in expecting it to be like the first one, when no sequel is ever like the first..
this clearly does not match up to phantom..phantom's music scores are much better..i agree, it sounds like a mish mash of music-and fanciful chicago style melodies.
I was there. It was an amazing experience just to see the first show, regardless of what you think of it. I do think that they obviously only took the positive reactions for this video. I was not overall positive on the story - the end was a shocker. Liked the music though, I am listening to it now. Some of the lyrics are nice, but others are just too obvious. I will see it again, though, because I sat at the Dress Circle and I want to see it from the Stalls.
This is very biased. I would imagine someone in or connected to the production is involved, because a group of us went last week and it's a mess.
They badly need to rethink sections of the show. I like ALW's music and I hope it will be a success, but the plot is a bit strange and many of the audience barely clapped.
Then there's a girl who is part table, and the drumming monkey...and a child who is possibly the most annoyingly syrupy character you have ever seen in a musical!
Three of us went to the Preview on Thurs.25 Feb. What a dreadful show. A complete mish mash of "sounds like" from les Mis, Phantom, Moulin Rouge, Pirates of the Carib and a Vaudeville. Felt really sorry for a young couple sitting next to me who didn't have a clue what it was really about as it is not a "stand alone" show despite what Lloyd Webber thinks or wants. As for the numbers, the big number at the end was more like an Ivor Novello number . Won't be recommending it to ANYONE
The reason why every show has a set of previews is so that they can improve the show. I am glad to announce that practically ever single complaint about the show people have had (except anti-sequels because they don't want it at all) are being changed. I wish i could post the link, but youtube doesn't allow it.
Google 'New Phantom's shaping up nicely' the link with Madonna's name is the one, though you have to scroll down once you'r ein the site to find the LND article
Think yourself lucky you couldn't go. A dreadful show and mish mash of music sounding more like someone trying to piece together lots of torn up manuscripts.
I went to last night's preview and it was the most awful show I have ever seen. I can only assume that the people interviewed here are being very polite. The music was terrible - there was no spectacle on the stage, the plot absurd and, at times it felt like we were watching an amateur dramatics group.
Most of the audience around me were cringing all the way through - and there were only polite applause - but a lot of sniggering at the terrible lyrics and apallingly trite scenes.
@TheDrNicholas It can't be worse than my mothers fanfic xD Unless Christine turns out to have a twin whom the phantom will eventually fall for after having been christianized by some priest he met one snowy night. Oh, and add the odd crazy ax murderer. Really.
See, Dr Nicholas, I would buy that if I hadn't been at the preview myself. Polite applause? I'm sorry, but did I imagine the standing ovations at the end of Til I hear you sing and the end of the show itself? The girl next to me was crying. Honestly, I thought the show was fantastic, even if the story was sub-par compared to the original.
Your comment was obviously biased, and for that I forgive you for not liking the show. You were obviously determined not to.
I´ve also been honored with the chance of going from Portugal, Lisbon to see that first preview. :) Loved it. Stil in need of some works but it will be a hit!
colorado, wow. I'm obsessed with phantom enough to want to travel from Australia and mum would probably come with me. There's just the whole money issue...
Ahh brilliant, great show couldn't of asked for a better musical to be part of. 0.51 is me lol. Kind of embarasing but honoured to say I was at the very first preview!

I saw 'Love Never Dies' last night.....
I'm here to tell you that Love DOES Die... on its arse & v e r y slowly!
There is no way that this show will go to Broadway in this form. Just like with 'Sunset Boulevard' we Londoners get to see the 'out of town' tryout.
There are 2 songs of any note and one of them was pinched from 'The Beautiful Game', which you lucky Americans didn't have to suffer.
Is there no-one who can say to Andrew Lloyd Webber,
"Er.... No. This is not working"?

No, as a matter of fact I was very much looking forward to enjoying it - sufficiently that I spent £135 on some of the best seats in the house.
