Either way, im a fan of american muscle cars. The american v8 is passion at its finest. I love my ram air pontiac 400... The 450 lbs torque range is lovely.

its a 400 small block with a super t-10 four speed. best time on street tires is 12.89 but it does not really matter anymore cause i just bought a LS1 out of a 2002 Trans Am. should be done by springs end.

Ok all you people who are arguing about tuners and muscle cars, here are the facts. Muscle cars will usualy beat tuners in adrag because they have so much power, but tuners can handle corners so so much better that in a lap race if there are any large amount of turns, the tuner will probably win. I can go into say a 20 mph freeway off ramp at 50-55 without any hesitation and it corners flat. love flyin by new car's in the corners and suprising them. Oh and this is all on the stock springs, stock shocks and stock sway bar only thing new on the suspension is the sway bar end links no rear sway bar.

@skater4life101101 Subaru sti is a rally car, not a go really fast car. Even if you made 1000awhp out of it, that would never hold together for long. This chevelle is built to take that kind of power, it could easily put that power down for years and you would only have to maybe tune the carb every few months, or adjust the rocker arms every few months if it is a flat tappet cam. The STI on the other hand would probably be breaking CV joins, transmissions,clutches, engine mounts ect...

@bmxboync11 , I was watching pass time and some lil honda civic was pushing 600hp. You would think that with that power to weight ratio that car would be kicking ass, but in only managed 11.56. The next car I believe was a Chevelle. Ran somewhere in the 10s on all motor.... Theres your evidence, plus turbos and other power adders put more stress on your engine. Forced induction may improve the performance of your car, but at the expensive of reliability.

Chevelles can run you a good number. Its an American classic so finding a decent one will not only be hard but expensive. One that needs a restoration with no work might start something like 4K to 13K depending on year and options, to 24K and even up to 100K for one in excellent condition, low miles, good options, originality etc....
I wanna "restore" my own, you know? I'll take one for a couple grand, put some money into it and earn the bragging rights. I wanna supercharge one and smoke my friend.

I'm a proud fan of Muscle Cars, and I absolutely -hate- imports and Japanese cars. Especially when people get very defensive and say things like "Chevelle sucks, Evo would own."
I know what your saying, its iffy. I mean with the proper mods yes, I was just trying to keep it short. But the AWD will be tough to beat, and the turbo makes good boost in those Evos. They aren't slow by far lol. But Im talking mostly about a worked 350, not a big block Chevelle or anything.
If I were you, I'd find one that needs a little body work, and maybe a motor. That way it will be very cheap. Then put a very good motor in it of your choice and do some very simple body work and a cheap paint job. And then you got yourself a budget Chevelle.

A Rally built Evo yah, but off the show room Evo's actually don't have very good track numbers. But keep in mind there's a big difference between American Evo's and Euro/Jap Evo's.
WO Bentley said it best when he said "There is no replacement for displacement." Nitrous, forced induction and all that stuff are fun, but they should not be necessary to go fast. They are like the condiments of the car world.

@bmxboync11 , I was watching pass time and some lil honda civic was pushing 600hp. You would think that with that power to weight ratio that car would be kicking ass, but in only managed 11.56. The next car I believe was a Chevelle. Ran somewhere in the 10s on all motor.... Theres your evidence, plus turbos and other power adders put more stress on your engine. Forced induction may improve the performance of your car, but at the expensive of reliability.

@ryansiki I agree with the rice burner thing but 4 cylinders can do some damage. 200 horsepower in a vw beetle could beat a 350, just saying power to weight ratio is important. So don't knock on all 4 cylinders just the ricy kind ;)

Well I have a 69 Dodge Charger R/T....and what did Chrysler ever do? It dominated 1st place through 4th place between 1969 and 1973 with the Daytona and the Superbird because of the Hemi and the "wings" when Nascar asked them to change engines...Mopar left Nascar for almost 20 years.....
I'd say that is something we should be proud of....fuck modern-day Chrysler, or any american company for that matter.

Chevelles can run you a good number. Its an American classic so finding a decent one will not only be hard but expensive. One that needs a restoration with no work might start something like 4K to 13K depending on year and options, to 24K and even up to 100K for one in excellent condition, low miles, good options, originality etc....

Well it depends on what motor it has and how much work is put in. But even a mild worked 350 with a supercharger on it may beat an Evo. But its always hard to say, given the Evo is AWD Turbo.

I know what your saying, its iffy. I mean with the proper mods yes, I was just trying to keep it short. But the AWD will be tough to beat, and the turbo makes good boost in those Evos. They aren't slow by far lol. But Im talking mostly about a worked 350, not a big block Chevelle or anything.

If I were you, I'd find one that needs a little body work, and maybe a motor. That way it will be very cheap. Then put a very good motor in it of your choice and do some very simple body work and a cheap paint job. And then you got yourself a budget Chevelle.

A Rally built Evo yah, but off the show room Evo's actually don't have very good track numbers. But keep in mind there's a big difference between American Evo's and Euro/Jap Evo's.
