  • I don´t get it...

  • I agree. I don't get him either.

  • I saw him last night .......I still can not get it out of my had.........this guy is the truth

  • If we ever have to explain to aliens what a guitar does, we can show them this.

  • Best comment ever ;)

  • wow

  • Pretty much sums up classical gas in a minute and a half! Who else but Tommy Emmanuel :D Love that guy.

  • One of the best guitar "players" but how is at creating his own tunes?

  • Rather bloody good, actually. Try listening to "The Journey" and some of his earlier solo stuff. Quite groundbreaking.

  • @FuckingIdiotOnCP what you just watched was his own version - completely different style from the original. In general his own tunes are amazing!!

  • you should see him live its pure magic!!! i seen him twice and met him twice, what a guy. the talent is unreal he will blow u away people trust me. he's really down to earth, a real nice chap to. he is for sure the best guitarist on the planet! even ste vai was amazed by the sounds and style he has. if you get the chance go see him, nobody plays with more passion than him.

  • The best guitarist of the WORLD.!!!

  • Dario Fò..

    Amazing genius

  • Reminds me of Jure Guić...

  • All right

  • o m g

  • This guy is so good.

  • DDAAYYYUUUMMMMM////...

  • This is Tommy Emanual's version of Mason William's Classical Gas.

  • tommy, Dios te Bendiga y te de salud para que sigas tocando asi de padre, saludos

  • Wow, this guy can shred

  • not many guitar players can play like Tommy...the dude is a m a z i n g!!

  • holy crap, that was really good

  • yeah but kinda short

  • this is the shorter version..the longer ones got also just go search..XD

  • i really want to learn this, it's just amazing,

  • :O WOW!!!

  • Possibly the most epic piece of guitar playing i've ever seen, and i've toured the world playing guitar. Bravo Tommy, I can't wait to discover more!!!!!!!

  • epic!

  • bu nedir böyle ya!!! mükemme, kusursuz

  • tomorrow i´ll see him !!! wuhuuu Düsseldorf :>

  • saw him yesterday! Unbeliefable!

he is far better playing life!

    ...got an autograph! ;)

  • eric clapton has nothing on him.

  • the only guy that sucks here is you :D

  • dont compare them. just dont. theres no point in comparing guitarists that are entirely different. i dont know why half of the people at youtube are too dumb to understand that it is useless to post such crappy comments like "yngwie malmsteen kicks kurt cobains ass on guitar" or "albert king plays way better than joe satriani".

gimme a thumbs down if it satisfies you, but thats my opinion.

  • crap - I accidentally hit the damn thumbs down instead of thumbs up - I totally agree with you

  • that is sweet,

    its too sweet,

    hes too good

  • me too!

  • AMAZING !! tommy we love you :>

  • Im going to see him in November!:D cant wait!

  • I think Leo Kottke gots him beat.

  • dream on lad lol leo kottke does nothing but sliding on average and he plays a 12 string.go back 2 playing halo little boy lol, try comenting on something you know. tommy emmanuel is only one of two people to hold a cpg. if u dont know what that is go look it up. or stick 2 your x-box :))

  • not that I don't agree with your comment, however it's "CGP", not cpg. When you dis, you must spell check.

  • Check out some Scotty Anderson...another great player who can play bass line, chords, and melody lines at the same time

  • Somkin' Version

  • this is just amazing, i can't say anything different

  • classical gas

    love it

    seeing him in november!

  • It looks like hes trying to compete with Yngwie Malmsteen. He took all the beauty out of this song by playing it at hyper speed.

  • why would he be trying to compete with a heavy metal shred guitarist when he is an acoustic guitar player and he made it upbeat because he adds his own type of music to the songs he plays he does a couple different variations of this song.

  • hes not ACTUALLY competing it just sounds like he did. I heard a version of him playing this slower, and it sounds much nicer, this is very good, but it just doesnt sound right for this particular song.

  • i agree with you though i think it sounds better more relaxed

  • gotta agree there.

  • at the begining he says "minute and a half" i think the who song was just a bit of fun to see how quick he could play it...

  • Holly shit he's awsome!!!

  • Nope, not nylon strings, steel strings. But yeah, there's six of 'em. Though he could probably play better with 2 strings missing than I ever could on a full six. Just saw him in concert a couple of nights ago, and he is flat-out amazing.

  • damn! he's so good!

  • ive seen him live last november

going to see him in november again!

  • 4 strings?

  • 6 strings..u can see all six when he tilts the guitar and the light shines on the nylon strings as well

  • now thats got soul.

  • very short version this one, still gr8 though!

  • 1 minute 23 seconds of awesomeness

  • ive heard this cool one , trambone, but a real cool version... i want the video clip

  • damn crazy guy

  • god is there a possibility to be tabs of that??

  • absolutley not

  • stop it with the spam!

  • Tommy Emmanuel has blown my lid!

He is NOW on my all time fav. list!

  • Technically good, but I don't really care for the more upbeat tune he gives it, though I am not trying to start a flame war, I am in no way insulting his talent.

  • Soo nicee!!!!

  • haha nice

  • I have to say, Tommy demonstrates something some of you here don't seem to recognise. A sense of humour!!!! It just shines through and some of the audience even laugh. See there are some clues. This guy has a prodigious talent and warmer human being I am yet to see.

  • hes good. damn farkin good

  • Critics who are saying he just plays faster and faster are tru to an extent, some songs like this and Tall Fiddler he just plays very fast, but infact he has a great passion for the music and if u actually listened to his other songs like Angelina or Lewis and Clark you would see...

  • agreed, angelina is the most beautiful piece of music i have ever heard.

  • To all the cretins who are saying he is playing this too fast, F**k you, you could NOT play better than tommy emmanuel, even if you can play his songs, you are not tommy emmanuel, and not better than or equal to him. I don't understand how you can't appreciate his music, and how you would take time out of your life to criticize others when clearly you are no better. cunts.

  • Well, I'm 13 and I've been playing since I was 12 and a half, and I can can play most of this... -and there is no need to play it faster, I could do that easy, but it sounds nice just as it is.

  • why so much comment? it's not hard to admid that he's great. HE IS!!!! :-)

  • who cares about speed...John Fahey had more soul in his music than all these kinda guys.

  • most people who leave those kind of comments have no idea what they're talking about.

  • It was a good performance and he was obviously just playing around.

For all the critics, you might be more technically competent as a guitarist, but the fact that you can't just appreciate a musician doing his thing is rather pathetic and petty in the extreme.

  • well im 15 and ive been playing since i was 4, and i can play this a bit over 50% faster, its not really that difficult.

  • post it, so we can see

  • speed is to impress non musicians

  • yes...but then again; this was actually very musos for being at high speed :D

  • what does musos mean?

  • Although I don't fully agree with you, I think it's beautifully said.

  • immense

  • One of the best!!! Lightning Fast!! Awesome.... arriangment Tommy!! Ciao

  • whose the guy laughin in the backround rofl, ruins it.

Thats was friggin awsum though. Propz, i cried for a second there :]

  • OMG

  • saw him in Belfast last night... FANTASTIC!!! young guy touring with him was amazing too, cant remember his name tho.

  • WOW!

  • Saw him live in glasgow. Unbelievable playing. He is the f'kn man!!!

  • aboslutely, without a doubt the best acoustic guitarist in the world

  • Saw him live last night, he's brilliant.

  • first time i saw video of mason williams playing classical gas amazed me, tommy has just done the same, fingerpickin by far the best way to understand talent!!!

  • I've been fortunate enough to see tommy live on several occasions and actually met him once, he is without a doubt one of the worlds best guitarists!!!

  • I'm in awe. My jaw is on the ground. My hairs are standing on end. What did I just see? I'm gonna watch this 10 time in a row, get a drink, and then watch it another ten. What a happy litle cloud he's put me on!

  • WoW! If you have a minute, Check Mathew Smith(Rodrigeus). The only type of lessons he had was 'Tommy Emmanuel's video on tecniques'. On Mathew's post, there is another post (Padre) Hope ypu like it.

  • Hey if you are into TE, then check out all the videos on my profile.

  • wow

  • so good so so so good

  • I saw him live.... best 3 hrs of my life ever... almost ... greastest finger picker

  • growing up as a young tacker in the great live music scene in sydney australia during the 70's and 80's, thjis guy was and still is god. with brother phil (no slouch, heavier strat marshall sort of guy) there pub concerts were better than any drug then or now! and the guys a wit to boot. come on god, share the talent around

  • Fast isn't surely a good thing.

I can probably play that fast but it won't sound good at all.

  • yeah but he makes it a good thing

  • Tommy is a god.

  • if you get this guys video, speed it up by SIXTEEN times...that's ME in slow motion, mate. I am the greatest guitar player under the Sun.

  • GREAT!! I'm so excited to see your video on YouTube! What do I search to find it??

  • dude you play 1 note or something xD try to grap as many chords he does, he is just a great guitar player!! and if your so good, why i dont see video's of your great concerts?

  • I have tried to show every-one how fast I am. I have mastered every chord physically possible, and can improvise solos that are so emotional they will make you laugh or cry. Problem is I live in a small village and have no camera. I will never be able to prove it.

  • your the man hahaha

  • Considering it would be physically impossible to even play this arrangment 50% faster, I will go out on a limb here and say you're full of crap big time.

  • Man I dont know, while this was brillent on every level, I'm sure they have people who can play this song 50% faster.

  • who cares about speed

  • i have a hard time believing u have a computer to put this dumbass comment on youtube.... but no camera.

  • CLASSICAL GAS!!!!!!!!! WOOHOOOOOOO

  • I saw him too in Holland in IJmuiden in a very small theater like with 20 30 people.. And it was next to my rehearsel space.. anywayzz He´s great :) Also very fun al things he tells and blabla heheh The poster of this vid most feel horrible Cuz all people all commenting like I've seen him heheh :P :P

  • seen tommy in southport an u cant help but laugh when you watch him hes that good

  • amazing, just stunning

  • I seen him in Edinburgh, Scotland, and i've seen many of his live performances on tape etc. but the one i went to was the best i've ever seen him play, He played Imagine, and was really into it, lasted around 7-8 minutes, and he played Initiation for 15 mins :D It was an amazing concert, got to meet him after too and talk for a bit, was excellent. nice video, amazing song :D

  • HE played image too at mines I loved it and michelle oww those harmonics

  • I saw hin in Denmark. He is great. I even played Mister Sandman togheter with him on his workshop, and afterwards interview him for my website http://www.guitaren.dk (in danish). A treassured experience. He did not play Classical Gas in the concert but played alot of other truly genious stuff. He is just as great as the rumor says.

  • Yeah,I saw him last week in Cambridge Ma,absolutely unbelievable! The best performer ive seen in my life.Ive been playing 40 years, bought his instructional DVD recently. If I can just scratch the surface and play 5% the way he does,i'll die a happy man...it may take another 40 yrs..lol
