  • Jackjude, your comments have been removed. don't know why. I agree it is a more mainstream sounding song musically, but the lyrics are much darker than people understand. but if you are interested, the other work he has done is, I think, more interesting, varied and challenging. But again even his more "pop" tunes have undercurrents if you listen and (in some instances) take them in context to what was happening at the time.

  • Thru the Blams, Front Lawn, Mutton Birds, Seven Sisters, solo etc., I think Don has proven himself to be a great word/tune-smith. Equal of NZ's best ever (including the Finn's, Dave Dobbyn, Chris Knox, Martin Phillips - it's a matter of taste, and based on overall longevity and success). For my taste Don has secreted more brillaintly constructed and worded songs than most of those mentioned. Sad to hear of the bicycle accident. Hope he's well now. And best regards to Chris and his family.

  • Don was and is a genius. Why he never made it big internationally amazes me and pisses me off. I put him in the same league as Peter Gabriel and Michael Stipe.

  • Fane Flaws directed this clip. Bloody genius clip maker!
